We have a passion about food. Some people say that Bar Mercurio is a New York style wine bar. We are continually dedicated to delivering you authentic fresh ingredients, pasta, and pizza. We believe we have the best pizza around! We serve a pizza pie that is crispy, fresh, and savory founded from a family recipe originating in a small town of Calabria, Italy.

Historique

Fondé en 1997.

In 1997, two brothers and a sister decided to commit all their energy and run an Italian ristorante/​pizzeria in downtown Toronto. The semi retired parents decided to join the team and be of «guidance’ and together an idea commenced that would forever enthuse, complicate, propel, inspire, and challenge the definition of «great food», service and atmosphere. Many years later, what bar Mercurio has become is a restaurant fully committed to excellence, with the complete understanding that such place is a direction and not a destination — just ask Mrs. Mercurio!

Ciao,

My name is Giuseppe, however, everyone calls me Joe. And herein lies the essence of who i am, how i act and the duality in my modus operandi. My parents are both Italian and I was made in Italy but born in Toronto. Growing up, food was the dominant medium by which the complete spectrum of human emotion was expressed including, sharing, kindness, discipline, artistry, love, religion, etc. etc.

As a restauranteur, i have limited my commitment to the culinary matrix with an equal emotional energy and intensity i faced as a child.

As an Italian/​Canadian, i am dedicated to share and bridge my Italian experiences in the Kitchen with my Canadian friends at a dining table at bar Mercurio.
