Bitaraf Narges Nasrin

After using the same dentist for 30 years, we opted to choose one closer to home when we moved to the Beaches.
We were a little hesitant at first to use this dentist after reading the negative reviews even though the office is located in our building.
After speaking with neighbours who are very happy with Dr. Bitaraf, we decided to give it a try.
We’re thrilled, from the friendliness of Dr Bitaraf, her staff, the latest equipment and the excellent service we have received over the past year.
At no point have we felt any pressure to have extra work done which we had felt from time to time with our previous dentist.
Our dental plan has covered all the costs which is important as we are now both retired.

I live in Woodbine Park and when my old dentist retired, thought it would be great to just be able to walk down my street and go to the dentist, so I made an appointment. The décor of the office was really beautiful, and it seemed they had the latest equipment, totally computerized. But that’s the end of the good experience.
The ENTIRE time Dr. Bitaraf was working on me, perhaps ½ hr, she did not stop talking to her dental assistant !!! Some things were of a rather personal nature (involving their family members) and I felt really awkward «listening in» on their conversation. I was getting extremely anxious because I didn’t think she was really paying attention to what she was doing. You feel extremely vulnerable with your mouth open and a dentist holding a drill — and for this reason, I didn’t say anything because I did not want to anger her.
She also told me I had 3 more cavities and would have to come back for another visit. I was shocked, because I have not had a cavity in years (I’m doubting now even if the one she had just filled really was a cavity) and regularly visited my dentist every year. Now all of a sudden, I’ve got 4?
Needless to say I was extremely skeptical and told them I’d call when I got my schedule. I never went back. Thank God, because I went to another dentist in the beaches who was rated very highly in the Beach Mirror (yearly awards) and it turns out that I didn’t have ANY cavities.
Dr. Bitaraf is dishonest, unprofessional and drills for gold.

I went to Dr Bitaraf for a few years and didn’t feel right about her practice on several occassions. I had always been told my teeth were in the top 5% by several dentists. On my first visit to Dr Bitaraf (after I moved too far from my previous dentist), I had a regular check up. I wasn’t told I had any problems and came back a week later to pick up a night guard. At that time, she told me she forgot to tell me I was supposed to reschedule for 4 fillings. I was confused because she didn’t mention anything the first time. Additionally, I hadn’t had a filling since I was a child. The last visit to my previous dentist was only 6 months prior, and I was told my teeth were in great condition at that time. When I mentioned this to her, she told me they had new technology and she could see problems forming deep down and that these fillings would be «preventative.» This was my first warning flag. .. I probably should have got a second opinion at that time, but instead I think I now have four filllings that I probably didn’t need.
On another visit, there was a charge on my insurance bill (paid fully by my insurance) for a 30-​minute «dental instruction» which never actually occurred (I only saw this charge when I looked at my insurance records online). I didn’t know this was billed because her receptionist always has you sign a blank form without filling in the services. It’s very uncomfortable to sign, and it feels awkward to ask them to write the charges down.
She also gives excessive Xrays. My spouse at the time worked in radiation therapy and told me this was not an acceptable practice; exposure to xrays at a dentist should be limited to once a year at most. She was doing it every 6 months (probably to charge my insurance).
She also keeps the computer screen above the patient’s head on, and I could see the names and personal information of her clients that were scheduled for that day. So much for confidentiality!
When I showed my new dentist (who is great) my night guard (that Dr Bitaraf had made for me), he was quite surprised at the type (soft rubber), saying it was probably making my grinding worse.
She is a nice lady, but that’s about all I can say for her. ..

When I first came to the office I thought it was really nice. It has a very modern feel and I like how they have the technology to show a digital photo of your teeth x-​rays right away.
When I came back, my wisdom teeth was infected and the dentist just took a scapel and started cutting into my gums without warning and no anesthetic. I said it really hurt and she kept going. She later offered me a topical numbing gel but I refused because she was already done at that point.
