I work in the Financial District. No, I’m not a «suit». No, I am not stiff. Yes, I wear heels. Yes, I am cool. That being said, I dont«lunch» the way financial districters do. I lunch at my desk usually, almost always in front of a Unilocal review. But places like Chic Chinoise make me want to hang out with the lunchers at the corner of Bay and King complete with the«what should we eat today» look on my face. I went in with reservations and dim sum on my mind. And Chic Chinoise delivered. There are no dim sum carts pushed around this place. The dim sum menu for the most part is pescetarian and vegetarian friendly(if you eat shrimp that is). There is also a regular lunch menu and lunch ‘sets’ which I have made a point to try on my next visit. The food was surprisingly good! The dumplings were fresh & shrimp rolls were very recently fried. I also ended up with a bowl of vegetarian congee and it was definetely some of best I’ve had in the financial district. or… the only one. They also have some interesting cocktails & wine on their menu if you feel like taking the rest of the afternoon off. I’m making this restaurant my dim sum haven away from the food court choas of the Financial district.
