Brutal! CCD does a nice job selling. They should realize that consumers are not idiots and don’t live in silos. They presented a convincing story of purchasing a custom sectional from a CDN supplier(Stylus– no issue with them, and love the fact they’re CDN). They confidently provided a price The issue is they use a private label approach to the name /type of couch and fabrics. This means, that after you fall in love with a piece of furniture, it’s virtually impossible to track down a comparison for pricing. Unless, you go to the Stylus website … look up other locations/retailers …find your couch and fabric … which is called something else… and get a price. Private label is pro-retail and anti-consumer. When I did this, I saved over 25% or $ 600 ordering the product from a shop in BC… with the same charge for delivery!!!

I pass by this place all the time and marvel at its beautifully decorated windows, so the other day I decided to actually go in and check it out. The store features mostly high-end home décor items, like really cool lamps, mirrors, chairs and even some bigger pieces like couches. There was even this weird Christmas tree made out of a birch tree stump?(see my photo). I felt a little uncomfortable when I was there, because the clientele seemed in a somewhat higher tax bracket from me(I saw THREE older women in the store, all of them wearing incredibly large sunglasses, scarlet lip stick, fur coats and clutching small dogs). But it’s definately a cool place, and I might go back to buy a wedding present or something…(I didn’t see a bargain section).
