I love their flat white. They also have the machine to make special coffee. Their carrot cake is the best. I love this place.

I wanted to like this place, but I can never seem to leave without feeling like a chump because of the ridiculous prices. I was hungry and was prepared to buy lunch. I couldn’t bring myself to spend so much on a little pizza ($ 8), so I went elsewhere. On my most recent visit, I ordered a chai latte, which came to $ 5.37, then I sat down, figuring, at least it is a nice change from doing work at home. WRONG. The Internet is so spotty that I spent most of my time waiting for my page to load.
That said, here is what is good about this place: the low-​key atmosphere, the friendly service. Drinks taste fine.

This is my first time here, and I love their setup and they are very friendly and welcoming, but their espresso was too over extracted to even finish the drink. I’ll never order another espresso from here again.

De Mello Palheta is a nice café. There are nice comfortable seats and tables behind the counter. You can relax to have a cup of coffee and pastries. De Mello Palheta has a nice relaxed atmosphere and they are casual not fancy. Their coffee and pastries are excellent. I think it is expensive though. American is $ 3.00 even though it is good coffee. I will come back there again soon.

What a great place! Unassuming but charming. It looks deceptively small but it’s long and narrow with additional seating in the back. It has that Kensington vibe with the cool table in the front (table top has a bunch of business cards on it covered by a glass table top).
There is a small pastry and food section — I had the zucchini/​red pepper quiche which I believe was around $ 8 – 9 I believe. It was ok… not worth the price in my opinion — maybe for a slice around $ 6, but I understand they are an independent coffee house and need to bring in the… err…beans :). I prefer my quiche cooked a little more and this one, the egg was more runny. but that’s my personal preference. They serve it on a cutting board with a side of salad with some light balsamic dressing. A great presentation. I also had the peach blossom tea which was light and refreshing and a generous portion. It was like sipping your problems away.
The service is great and the place is really clean. They take pride in their place. There is free wifi and I noticed it closes at 8pm which is a bit later than some of the other coffee places in the area. I will definitely be back to get one of their lattes (they make lovely art on them!) and a sinfully delectable pastry.

Really great café, and I would come back again in the daytime when they probably have more selection. That being said, my friends and I tried three items here and they were all delicious. The raspberry green tea square and apricot date square were both tasty, but the standout item was the lemon japonaise (like a meringue cake thing) which had a nice, light, lemony, zesty flavour and was very soft and fluffy. Neither of the other two treats were too sweet, but they were also just a bit more generic. The two girls working here were super sweet and friendly as well, and there is free wi-​fi here, so it would be a nice place to chill or work or study for a while. The décor is very quirky and interesting (i.e. open umbrellas hanging on the ceiling, table covered with business cards, etc.) — overall a fun place!

Great place to grab a coffee and treat on Yonge St. Popped in yesterday evening around 7pm to grab an evening pick me up, and my espresso as per usual was delicious. I especially love this place because it is open till 8pm, there aren’t many other coffee shops around the city open that late.
I definitely recommend de Mello Palheta to anyone looking for a great coffee experience in Toronto.
And as a bonus it is absolutely gorgeous inside, totally instagram worthy!

Solid independent café and my go-​to when in the Yonge-​Eglinton area, as there are not that many good cafes in this neighbourhood. Service is always friendly and their espresso drinks are made with care. They also have a wide variety of tempting baked goods. I’m partial to their cheese croissants. They bake everything in house from the open kitchen in the back and it always smells amazing!
There is a good amount of seating with small tables at the back and a large communal table at the front. Free wifi is reliable and it’s a cozy environment to work, read or socialize. The murals on the wall and rotating art are nice to look at too.

It was a sunny Sunday. I was starving after a two hours hiking in the nature trail behind the neighborhood.
With luck, I found this place not only featured by best coffee in neighborhood-​quote a Unilocaler-​has two outdoor tables. Tiny, but enough for me, while I sunbathed beside my dog.
Food was good. Waiters were helpful. The ambience was pretty relaxed. I actually even find a large area back in the café.
I ordered quish and sour cream almond. Both of them were pretty good. I couldn’t expect more. Just a little, Americano was light for me. Maybe next time I should try espresso. Yes. I will come with friend next time. I will give 3.8 stars.

Just an avarage coffee. This goes specifically to their espresso which the taste cannot be covered by other topping, milk & …
Have been there couple of times, and found out sign of sourness in espresso shots, either the beans havent been degassed properly. or the esspresso is not pulled as longer as requires. Signs of under extraction, maybe. Anyway, its a kindo pitty when they have such an equiped roasting factory behind the store but the esspresso comes out the average. Try their Cortado, its very good. the milk microfoam covers the sourness and you can enjoy a tick taste of coffee and milk.

4.5 stars! These guys make the best coffee in the neighbourhood in my opinion. Bonus points for roasting their own beans.
I come here quite regularly as I work down the street. Even though it is farther than the other coffee shops in the area, I am willing to go the extra block as the coffee is delish. My preferred drinks of choice here are the lattes and cortados. Only drink I’ve had here that I wasn’t a huge fan of was the Iced Latte, but that might just be because I should have asked for skim milk (I find it’s too much milk flavour otherwise). Price wise it’s fairly reasonable for the area. Plus they offer double shots of espresso for drinks at no extra cost, so if you like it strong this is the spot!
Food wise I recommend any of their daily baked bars (rhubarb was amazing!), tarts or the almond chocolate chip biscotti. Not a fan of their croissants unfortunately — I prefer a more flaky texture, but they are huge! They also have mini pizzas and quiches for those looking for something savoury.
Lots of seating available (there is more in the back). Free WiFi. Never too noisy here too so I’d say it’s a great spot to have a meeting or work away.

Great coffee, the pastries are delightful, and also made there. The cappuccinos are huge, bigger than in Most places. We had an almond and dark chocolate biscuit and a chocolate Danish, both great.
The style of the place reminds me to kengsinton market, there are graffitis everywhere and lots of color. I will come back for sure.
The only thing is that this is not your usual coffee shop where you can seat and relax and work in your computer or read a book, the music it’s loud and just the place itself it’s not inviting to do so.

The wifi works, the atmosphere isn’t pretentious, and the cortado was excellent! Who wouldn’t like this place? Not to mention I’m always a little impressed when the barista creates a piece of art in my coffee. The place was very quiet on a weekday morning so it’s a great place to study, especially since they don’t have loud music playing unlike at some other coffee shops.

This is the kind of coffee shop that just does everything right. Friendly people, epic cappuccinos, pour over coffee, funky décor … The list goes on.
The pastry options are plentiful and include traditional staples along with some interesting throw ins. The option of savory snacks are nice (like mini pizzas and quiche).
I really have nothing bad to say about this place other than a patio would be nice. :P
Oh and the umbrellas hanging from the ceiling are a nice touch!

I like this café a lot: their Americano is great, they have a good selection of pastries they make, and an assortment of other fancy café drinks (lattes, etc). It has a nice, grungy kind of atmosphere that fits.
I’d deduct half a star (4.5 rounded to 5, #math) only because there is limited seating, it’s a very small space.
But overall, I highly recommend this café.

de Mello is one of the few true gems in Toronto.
I had the opportunity to talk to the chef, who makes batches of their yummy croissants each morning, and have a new found appreciation for the pasty! She explained that croissants are essentially fine layers of dough that are continuously rolled on to itself. At least, that’s what I took from the conversation… she spoke with such exuberance, that I wasn’t able to catch everything, haha!
Best believe that your de Mello croissant has a piece of that enthusiasm and passion. (100% sure that’s the reason why they taste so delicious!)

Wonderful coffee shop! Wish I found myself in this area more often. After much deliberation I ordered a mocha with the spicy hot chocolate mix; the latte art was beautiful and expertly done. My only complaint was that it wasn’t hot enough. (I’m not asking for scalding but it shouldn’t be cold within 5 minutes!) I would normally deduct a star but I loved this place and will give her the benefit of the doubt.
The atmosphere was lovely, wish I had stayed longer. From my picture you can see how freaking delicious the dessert case looked. I definitely recommend this café, they are doing it right. I will be back for a cortado to taste their beans!

I love coffee and tea (or maybe I just love caffeine in general). My ‘Bucks Buddy and I decided to explore other coffee shops and decided on de Mello. I used to work right around the corner so I would pass by this place often — the signage is graffitti style, but as you walk in, you’re pleasantly surprised at the décor here. It’s unique with an industrial look. I got my drink (tea) in a beaker, which was a new approach to serving hot drinks. The treats look delicious. My BB ordered a tart and she enjoyed it a lot. Service was really good with staff being very accommodating — I rode my bike to de Mello and forgot my bike lock at home. The staff were very understanding of my dilemma and allowed me to leave my bike at the front. If you’re looking for a good independent coffee shop, definitely check out de Mello in Midtown.
