Dineen Coffee

Dineen’s my go-​to coffee house. Love the ambience here. Staff is even better, always welcoming. There temperance roast is slightly on the dark, but for someone who normally has one sugar with his latte, with there’s I never have to. it’s perfect.
Oh and did I mention they have some of the most skillful latte-​art barista’s?

Met up with a friend here on Sunday and it’s pretty packed during mornings. If you are lucky, you can get a table but expect a 20 – 30 min wait if you want a seat along the windows. Seats there are super comfy and they have a few power outlets behind them. Tables though are pretty small and I found wifi to be spotty.
Server was nice enough to try a few times to help me connect to Internet. However, the wifi is not very good due to how many people are using it? Or perhaps it’s because it hates my phone? Lol. That’s what they explained to me anyways. I kept trying to sign in and it took like 10 tries to connect. Even after connection, it was spotty and kept going in and out.
I ordered the mocha latte, standard size and its basically on par with the cost of a Starbucks latte. Tasted pretty good and I like the little latte art. Lol.
Anyways, I would come back. Décor is really nice and I like the vibe of the place. It’s ideal for sipping a cup of coffee while catching up with friends but not so much if you want to hunker down and do some work on a computer.

The drinks are delicious. But the pastries range from just average to moderately decent. I don’t work too far away, and drop in once and awhile. The décor and space itself is beautiful. You feel like you’re in Paris — better yet, you feel like you’re in a room in the Louvre. When you visit Dineen, you’re not just grabbing a coffee — it’s cultural experience (surprisingly, right smack in the middle of good old Yonge Street).
I’ve had the hot chocolate, a regular coffee, a vanilla latte, and various pastries on occasional visits. The hot chocolate is very light, soft, and doesn’t hit you in the face with its sweetness. The vanilla latte is delicious, full-​bodied, and smooth. The brewed coffee is just average — too bold for my liking, I think. The pastries vary from day to day — sometimes, they taste as dry as a hot summer day, and other times, they taste super fresh. Depends on whether they get a new batch in, I guess.
Overall, the atmosphere and décor make this place, and it’s the perfect spot to relax, gather as a small group, or meet up with a friend or a coffee date. Pricing is moderate, and street parking availability is minimal. Overall recommended.

The seating area has seen better days, but the rest of the shop, including the bathroom, look brand new.
I would definitely return, but only if I’m in the area and when it’s not so busy (if ever).

I got a vanilla latte from this place and it was the best one I’ve ever had. It was about $ 4something and I drank it at the café. Price is definitely not bad considering how the price is similar to Starbucks but you could taste the difference. The milk froth was fluffy and it stayed that way as I was slowly sipping it. I liked how it was not piping hot so I did not have to wait several minutes for it to cool down before drinking it. The latte itself was creamy and smooth. It was not too sweet; just perfect. The only downside was that because it was busy, the latte art looked messy but that’s understandable. It’s a clean and nice to sit down and have small talk with a friend if there’s seats available.

One of my favorite coffee shops in toronto. Great espresso based drinks and coffee. Prices are not bad either.
The place is like no other coffee shop in financial district. The vintage, hipster feel makes it a great place to grab a coffee and get away from your desk. You don’t feel like you’re downtown at all.
The staff that work here are hit and miss. The cashier was pretty rude, but the barista was really nice.

Came to Dineen on my last day of work at my past company with a few colleagues. This place is always packed so were lucky enough to grab a table right by the door entrance with the side that had a booth. Perfect for people watching. They both got chai latte’s while I opted for an Iced Tea. The Iced tea wasn’t anything too special that I haven’t had before. It was refreshing and was just what I needed.
While we were there we noticed there were some interviews going on, people catching up, business workers coming in to grab coffee and a few people on some dates. This place definitely has the ambiance for catching up with friends and bringing a date. Towards the afternoon they had a violinist come in and play while everyone sat, read and chatted.
I would come back if I was bringing a work friend or someone form out of town as it is better than going to the usual Starbucks and Timmies however I wouldn’t say their coffees or lattes steer any different.

Great coffee in a convenient location. The blueberry scone was delicious. A great way to start the morning. It can get busy but there is enough staff to handle the rush.

Pretty great place for a coffee– spacious, comfortable and stylish surroundings. Wifi available but spotty service kicked me off at an opportune time and lost my email. Coffee is solid, my Americano soy misto was good quality but pricey at almost $ 5, and a little too dark for my taste. The friendly service and comfortable environment would bring me back though.

Love Dineen. I’ve been here a couple times to grab coffee on the go or to sit and relax and read a book. Their interior is nice with their cute tiles and lots of lighting being situated in a corner with lots of windows. Their espresso is delicious. I always go for their Vanilla Latte which isn’t too sweet, just right. The latte art is also a plus! I’ve also had their Apple Brie and Walnut sandwich. It was pretty good but it’s not a must have when you go there. I prefer a latte with a salted chocolate chip cookie. So good!
Just a warning though: the place does get packed like crazy. Barely any seats sometimes, crowds of people waiting for their coffee at the bar but it wouldn’t stop me from picking up my coffee!

I really dislike this place. It’s a victim of its own popularity. Due to the location and swank atmosphere they have, this place is essentially crowded with financial district types Mon-​Fri from 7am-​7pm. I have had near physical confrontations with suited up financiers over a table that just became available. That just is not my style. I don’t enjoy loud cafes where I feel uncomfortable lingering. The drinks are decent — much like any other indie joint in the city but their food is seriously overpriced and not that delicious or filling for what you pay.
For my needs, which consist mainly of gossiping with girlfriends and studying on my Mac, this joint just doesn’t fit the bill. Maybe if I ever work south of King my opinion will change, till then, see ya never Dineen!

4.02: Most instagrammable café in Toronto. Gorgeous industrial meets baroque (?) design. Beautiful floor tiles (people apparently come in just to take photos of them). You may have a small orgasm from just the interior itself.
Other: Friendly staff. Space is a bit packed, so expect ~15 min wait before you can get seated. Had a soy latte: great milk foam consistency, but overall average coffee. My friend wasn’t too impressed with his iced tea either.

Dineen is a saving grace in the Financial District — a world full of Starbucks and underground food courts. I relish coming here on my lunch breaks and stepping away from Toronto for a moment.

The Could-​Be-​Better
— Limited seats. It’s definitely hard to find a spot, especially in the colder months when the patio is closed. If you have a conscience you might feel a little guilty bogarting a table with your laptop and long empty coffee cup.
— PATH accessible. As in, it’s not. Which makes for a chilly walk in winter. But when the Bay Adelaide Centre is finally finished I’d envision only a 5 foot walk outside being required.
— The price. i know it’s based on the location but a latte with almond milk exceeds $ 5.
In short, I love you Dineen. See you tomorrow ;)

I’d heard good things about Dineen so was excited to give it a go, and this is most certainly a café that seemed to be one that people come to catch up over vs. a café that would see a more quiet atmosphere of people reading in corners. Given it’s location in the heart of downtown, it’s not surprising, but they have enough table space to bring a tablet/​laptop to get some work done with good access to power points.
I do like the space, and the staff behind the counter were really friendly, however my order of a cappuccino ended up being a latte, and that’s the main reason for the 3 stars. It was a good late, doesn’t crack my top 10 (I don’t actually have a top 10 latte list up my sleeve) but still not what I wanted.
I also had a biscotti, which I have no complaints about.
I would definitely come back here, mainly due to their great location and the fact that I’m optimistic they have it in them to turn this 3 star review in to a 4 quite easily!

I freaking loved this place so much I came both mornings I was in town on the weekend. The one downside — they ran out of iced coffee. BUT — the hot coffee was one of the best I’ve had in a long, long time.
The ambience of this place is just as lovely as the food. There’s lots of natural light. There is a good bit of seating, but since the place is quite busy most of the time, especially in the morning, it may take a bit to actually get a seat. Service is great — I was treated nicely by the people behind the counter both times I went.
The coffee and espresso here is fresh, reasonably priced, and just tastes good. The roast is not too bold yet not too light. I wish they had fat-​free milk as an option though.
The pecan square I had was absolutely delicious. I’ve been looking for some good pecan pie anywhere in the northeast US, yet this pecan square is the closest thing to a real southern pecan pie that I have had in a while. I forgot how much it was, but it’s so worth it if you have a sweet tooth and can afford to eat probably the equivalent of a stick of butter in the square :)
The cheddar jalapeño scone was also delicious, though it didn’t have as much of a kick as I thought it would. The outside is crunchy and the inside is soft. Yum.
Dineen’s Coffee is definitely my go-​to spot when I’m in Toronto.

Dineen Coffee is a beautiful coffee shop on Yonge. The décor — especially vintage lighting and marble table top remind me of some of the coffee bars in Italy. The staff are friendly and welcoming! There are ample outlets by each table.
The ice mocha (around $ 4.25) and ice lattes (around $ 3.85) are both expertly prepared — smooth, sophisticated, strong and robust! Almond milk or soy milk can be used to replace traditional dairy products.
A vintage water fountain is also available for customers dispense water!

Wow! What a find! Just happened to come across this café while strolling through downtown Toronto on Sunday afternoon. It’s located in a historic building and the café has maintained that vintage feel throughout. Makes me wonder if the space used to be a bank back in the day. Really cool light fixtures, patterned tile and a cool menu board.
I opted for the iced vanilla latte. Excellent choice! Great flavor, perfect sweetness. Toronto is very lucky to have this café. I would be a regular if I lived there. (For my readers in Tampa, it’s a little reminiscent of the café at Oxford Exchange). Service wasn’t too smiley but it was adequate. I’ll assume the barista’s lack of enthusiasm is a result of having to work on a Sunday afternoon instead of enjoying the perfect weather. I can understand that.

I was so surprised my Vanilla Latte was served with ground vanilla though it was a bit two sweet for me. Next time, I will make sure I ask for less sweet and almond milk for my drink:)
I came here after 1pm on a weekday. Luckily, the café was not too packed and I could grab a nice corner to sit down and relax by the window with the warmth from the sun. There were patio tables and patio umbrellas set up on Temperance Street. That would be nice on a warm sunny day if the construction work is done.
So far, it was an impressive first experience here. The decoration here is so pretty and the ambiance is very relaxing. I will certainly come back whenever I wanna chill with a nice coffee or tea at a comfortable and cozy environment.
I was thinking to give it a 3.5 star since the vanilla latte was made too sweet and the bacon quiche was just really so so. However, the ground vanilla earns another half star. It is a 4 star to me!

I’ve been here a few times and right away a couple of things become obvious; the first is that this place is always crazy busy, and the second is when you realize the reason for the first observation is because of the amazing quality of the coffee and other drinks served here!
If you’re lucky to grab a spot at the well-​concealed bar area directly behind the barista bar, then you’re in for a treat! This spot lets you people watch and creep not only all of the patrons in the café, but also the many, many passers by at this busy intersection!
The coffee drinks here are amazing! They are smooth, delicious and the baristas are super knowledgable and will help you choose what you’re in the mood for without rushing you!
I’d definitely come here again :)
