Best ice cream in the city, probably Canada, maybe the World. Always want to try a new flavour but can’t get past the burnt marshmallow.

I wish we could have erased our first experience there but dome people have no customer service skills. We went back the next weekend, I like a challenge :) but it was different staff and different time of day. They were VERY nice and attentive. My husband gave a tip this time because the servers deserved it. We were in a pinch and needed a light dessert. We got a pint each of mango and lemon sorbet, burnt marshmallow ice cream, and Tanzanian dark chocolate gelato. ALL fabulous. My guests were impressed. Here’s to redemption. I thought it weird for that part of town. I mean it’s been gentrified like everywhere else in Toronto but seriously? It’s the outskirts of Parkdale. Do the best to get over yourself.

Came by here on a Friday afternoon after work, I was really glad that I stopped by. Service: Slow, but friendly and attentive. A young lady was the only one working, so there was waiting period of a couple of minutes. Dessert: Could not choose one flavour, so I ended up getting Tanzanian dark chocolate & spicy chili chocolate gelato(flavours). Both were really great– each flavour was rich, creamy, and thick, just the way gelato should be! The portion was generous too, the flavours were piled up high like a mountain in a cup(I got a regular size cup to scoop my gelato!) I highly recommend you to give this place a try! You won’t regret it!

Ice cream isn’t all the same. Enough said. But, need to add, plenty of sections. Great texture, just the right combination to not make it heavy(so that you can continue eating scoops after scoops). Beyond premium.

Come here if you’d like to be bombarded by hipster doofuses, served over priced ice cream, and just generally have in all around poor experience. Overly crowded due to misguided word of mouth and the overwhelming lack of anything the least bit interesting on Roncesvalles. Would avoid.

Best ice cream. Enough said.

Decent ice cream but nothing to rave about. The crème brûlée just taste burnt and there’s more to the taste of crème brûlée than that. It’s nowhere near the taste quality of marble slab. The system they use to ring people through is ridiculous though. I stood there for about 10 mins, money in hand, while two cashier rang through a myriad of customers because apparently only the person who scooped the ice cream for you can ring you through.

My review before was not good but I was desperate for ice cream so I gave them one more try and they finally seem to be on par with the one on Queen. Ice Cream tastes better and they are a lot more generous than my previous visits.

You can’t beat Ed’s for excellent ice cream, gelato, and service in this city. I’ve been to the Roncy & Leslieville locations, but Roncy is my fave due to the larger space and nicer street to stroll up and down. They are generous and patient with their samples and always quite willing to cram two flavours in one cup. There are always new flavours to try, regardless of the time of year. This place is just great.

I agree with some of the others, by far not the best, and very misleading with the«handmade». Flavorless, too much sugar and expensive for what it is. I think it is the MacDonald s generation that is giving all the high stars ratings here. We are in for trouble as the MacDonald generation grows up when it comes to food and quality. If it doesnt come in a box on a plastic tray, it cant be good :) Bang Bang on Ossington is Definitely more fun. Bang Bang is no more healthy etc… but they don’t try to imply they are handmade or healthy and I think truth(good or bad) is very important.

Service was good but the ice cream was TASTELESS. my husband got the apple pie ice cream and all he could taste was bland vanilla ice cream which had only 1 small piece of apple. I ordered chocolate peanut butter fudge. there was no fudge. no peanut butter .only bland generic chocolate ice cream we paid $ 17 for 2 large(which were VERYSMALL) ice cream sundaes that had less than a table spoon of caramel topping and a few m&ms Honestly. Id rather go get an ice cream sundae at Burger King for 1⁄3 of the price Won’t be returning! if you want good ice cream. go to Dutch Dreams at Vaughan Rd and St Clair W. or toms on the queens quay The people who are giving this place 5 stars obviously have no taste buds

We came to ed’s scoop after hearing rave reviews and I agree with them all. Hand made ice cream creamy and delicious. The burnt marshmallow is just outstanding. I would even dare to say this is the best ice cream in town.

This place was hopping on one of the first Saturdays of the summer. The line moved quickly, though, and my crew left satisfied. Even considered getting back in line for Round 2… I recommend the gelato. And get a waffle cone; you won’t regret it.

I had the caramel nut bark crunch, and it was delicious! Would def recommend it for those who like nuts in their ice cream. The line was long, and only 2 people were working, so it was a bit of a wait. They could definitely use a third person to help out on the weekends! Everyone was very friendly though, and knew their flavors. I would definitely go again!

I love the selections of ice cream they have here. I got the apple pie ice cream with cinnamon ice cream which really complements each other. The service I got here was excellent and I would definitely visit their other ice cream stores!

Missed being first review by that much. LOL. Boy was I glad to see this place open for business when I arrived at work this morning. I’ve been watching the renovations for the past two months with anticipated drool. As soon as lunch rolled around I crossed the street(did I mention this place is directly across the street from where I work?) and walked inside. Nice and bright to show off all the delicious colours and flavors. I decided to try the Crème Brule and the Burnt Marshmellow today. Loved them! Can’t wait to try the other 25 or more flavors. Did I mention this place is directly across from work? Let the sugar high begin.

tl: dr — FIRST UnilocalERHERE! Anyhoo, the same team from Ed’s in the Beach and Leslieville, is back at it in Roncy. Definitely a welcome addition to this west end neighbourhood! Oh I got to meet THEED of Ed’s Real Scoop :) This was a stopover while waiting for my table over at Barque Smokehouse. Much to my surprise, it was their first day opening and they still had the fresh paint smell that will probably go away in about a week or so. It was a nice distraction to hold us over for the half an hour wait over at Barque. Much to my surprise we were greeted by THE Ed of Ed’s Real Scoop and his wife Jennifer. They told us about the history of Ed’s(they’ve been going strong for 13 years now!), how they don’t care for selling in volume to big grocery chains, and deliberately want to keep it small to be as close to the customer as possible and deliver the most unique, delicious and innovative ice creams and gelato Toronto and dare I say Canada has to offer. To be honest, I was genuinely delighted to talk to the owners and get to know their story. Everything trickles down from the top and it really shows that their business will last for many many years to come if the values and philosophy of Ed is passed down through the years of Ed’s successors. They might stop at 3 locations or they might not but it’s a family run business and I am in love with how warm and receptive they are to their customers/fans whom they’ve never met before. They have such a strong brand, that I was surprised it was that busy on the first day — and it was about 3 – 4 degrees celsius… I guess people really do love Ed’s and their ice creams. They’ll be the perfect stopover if you’re ever in Roncy or looking for a place to go before or after going to any of the fantastic restaurants in the ‘hood!
