The best hand-​made ice cream in town. Must try the roasted marshmallow… sadly seems like they closed on winter

I came here because of the many positive Unilocal reviews but I was disappointed when I tried it. There are limited amount of flavours and the flavours are very weak and taste very light. I got the strawberry yoghurt and mango but I have to say that even food basics sells better I’ve cream.
The shop itself is very small with two small tables that fit two people each but at least the server was friendly.
As for the price, I would say it’s not worth it comparing to its flavour.

Im STILL going to give it 5 outa 5 because the roasted marshmallow flavour is soooooo addictive. BUT the last time I was here I was so disappointed. 16 yrs ago I lived on King Street and ate here often and at their other location. When I moved all the way up to Unionville I only visit Gregs a few times a year and I make a point of bringing a cooler and ice packs to bring back as much ice cream with me for my family as possible. But the last time I was here I wasn’t watching carefully when the staff put my handpacked roasted marshmallow together and when I got home I realized it was only ²⁄₃ full– the bottom third was air and not well packed !!! So sad !!! its not just the wasted money, it was the anticipation and the let down and of course Im too far away by then to drive back and complain. Ive been calling Gregs but they don’t have an answering machine. Ill drive by them today while doing errands and see how it goes when I complain in person
Update– later on Oct 17 2015– Sure enough I showed up and Gregs were nice enough to give me two free scoops. Delicious ! We tried Choco Marshmallow and Cookies and Crème which had FULL SIZED Oreos in it, they were amazing new flavours. And of course yet another hand pack of Roasted Marshmallow. xoxoxoxox Love you Greg !!!

Wow. That roasted marshmallow ice cream is addictive. It’s amazingly like a real toasted marshmallow, but without the augh-​my-​teeth-​hurt sweetness. I always tell myself I should try another flavour, but never do.

Love going here! I’ve only had about four flavors, but they already have me hooked. I haven’t tried any ice cream as good as Greg’s, and they’ve truly made the roasted marshmallow their signature scoop. If it wasn’t $ 6 to get your fill of dessert, I’d be bringing all the college kids with me after lecture, but it isn’t exactly student-​budget-​friendly.
I’d suggest the mocha, cookies n cream, and banana chocolate (one of my personal favorites), but really, I’d feel free to go out of your comfort zone with this one. It’s hard to pick a flavour you won’t miss, and with the added plus of fast and friendly service, I’ll definitely be coming here again.

This is probably my favourite icecream store in Toronto! Many unique, delicious flavours. Coffee toffee has to be my top choice.

Delicious ice cream! I am in love with the toasted marshmallow flavor and would come back over and over again for just this flavor of ice cream alone. I’m not sure how they capture the flavor of marshmallows roasted over a fire so well, but it tastes exactly like it! Love it. Otherwise, Greg’s ice cream is on par with a lot of other ice cream stores — quite a few flavor selections, some seating area, nice and quick service. But the toasted marshmallow is why Greg’s ice cream is memorable.

Toasted marshmallow. Enough said. The place is not much to look at and sometimes neither are the staff, but as soon as you have some of that toasted marshmallow all your troubles drift away. Toasted. Marshmallow.

I can only write a review for the toasted marshmallow flavor — simply delicious! The texture is creamy and the flavor is just perfect! Would highly suggest. I had the smallest size (½ scoop) and was more than satisfied.
For anyone coming from across the border — definitely have some Canadian $$$ on-​hand, they only do 1 – 1 exchange for US dollars.

Had the lemon meringue flavour and yum it was delicious. I love the homemade taste to it.
Would definitely recommend this place if you wanna support non-​franchised ice cream shop.

Small ice cream shop with unique flavours. Split a triple with a friend and got the lemon meringue, chocolate peanut butter and coconut chip. The lemon meringue was tart, the chocolate peanut butter was amazing — more like dark chocolate peanut butter, and the coconut chip was more like a cream ice cream with bits of shredded coconut and chocolate chips. $ 6 for 3 scoops is definitely the best deal — also it’s cash only!

I’ve been to Greg’s twice in recent weeks and both times I was disappointed in the ice cream.
There is something about the texture that I don’t enjoy. In my opinion, it’s not worth the calories.
I know it is highly rated, but I am not a fan. There are better options around.

It’s a sad day when I order a cup of ice cream and only take a few spoonfuls and leave the rest.
The strawberry ice cream was so lacking in strawberry flavour that I tried to order strawberry topping after the fact but they didn’t have any today so I threw out the rest of the cup, all I tasted was cream.
My friend got the roasted marshmallow and it just tasted like char, it should be called burned to charcoal marshmallow, the dark colour should have been a tip off that they messed up that batch.
The flavour choices were minimal and made me wish I was at Ed’s!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream other than Greg’s.

Omg the lemon meringue flavour… it actually tasted like I was eating a lemon meringue pie! Delicious.
Half scoop was $ 3.10 and single scoop $ 4. I got half scoop on sugar cone and I found it was just the right amount for me (given that this was a pre-​dinner snack).
Before deciding on the lemon meringue flavour, I also taste-​tested the grapenuts and malt ball crunch flavours. Grapenuts was interesting. It’s apparently a cereal, and it tasted like ice cream with those crunchy rice balls mixed in (imagine the Crunch chocolate bar). The flavour grew on me, and I’d actually consider ordering a scoop of it. The malt ball crunch wasn’t too special — it tasted like chocolate ice cream.

I’ll keep this nice and short.
Had the roasted marshmallow ice cream, single scoop, I have to say at first taste, it was REALLY good. Could taste the smokiness and roasted aroma of the marshmallow and it was really smooth and creamy.
However, why I’m rating it at 3 is that, the further I ate my ice cream, the less I started to enjoy it. It was getting more into the sweet side (and I LOVE sweets) and not to mention there was this rather unappealing aftertaste of egg yolks? Like all I tasted was egg/​egg yolks with a touch of marshmallow. I know some ice cream call for egg yolks but this was almost too much, too rich for me.
I’ll probably come back and try a different flavour but I’m not all the way convinced that this is the best ice cream in Toronto.

Went here off a suggestion from a family member. Definitely some of the best ice cream I’ve had. When I arrived there was only one worker behind the counter, a little frazzled but kept her cool despite the line forming. I ordered a scoop of Roasted Marshmallow and a scoop of Bailey’s. The roasted marshmallow was delicious; it tasted like a campfire in the best way possible. I was a little disappointed in the Bailey’s because I couldn’t taste it, but the ice cream was still delicious. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

Ice cream on a winter night? Yes! I am typically afraid of the stormy winter nights, but who can say no to something that warms your heart on a cold winter night at below zero degree.
I have a lot of love for Greg’s Ice Cream! Greg’s delicious spicy mango ice cream has the ability to wear off cold. Your joy molecules starts to hop-​up and down as soon as you take the first bite. If you are not a fan of spicy mango, definitely give roasted marshmallow or their Christmas flavours a try. The charred flavour of roasted marshmallow adds an additional dimension the overall profile of the ice cream.
Amazingly friendly staff, good portion size, reasonable prices ($ 3.00 for half scoop); you will not regret this decision. If you have not yet drop by this Bloor West institution, you are missing out on a little piece of heaven.
Tip: (1) Cash only! (2) You can get up to two flavours per scoop. :) (3) Eat and be merry!

You could say that I’m a connoisseur of ice cream. Look through my Unilocal reviews and you’ll see that I loves me a good scoop or two (or three!)
This place is worth it just for the roasted marshmallow ice cream. If I recall (was there at the beginning of September) I also had the blood orange chocolate, and both flavors knocked it out of the park. I’m salivating just thinking about that slightly charred taste … takes me back to one of my other favorite activities — backpacking.
Bottom line is, if you’re near this place and hankering for something delicious, go here. :D

Rich creamy flavours and superb service. Tried their Roasted Marshmallow and Coffee Toffee — both super tasty! Don’t be fooled by their half-​scoops though, they’re actually quite filling.

STRAIGHT UP the best ice cream I’ve had… just mind-​blowing!
My friend recommended we go here for ice cream, and I had to convince him to go AFTER having lunch, although after tasting the ice cream here, I’d highly recommend going any and all the time. Seriously.
It’s a small little shop right near Bloor and Spadina, and the one staff member there was super nice and friendly. He was joking around with us and giving us a bunch of samples.
Ultimately, I settled on getting the coffee toffee, which was out of this freaking world! It wasn’t too overpowering on the coffee flavour, and it had some nice crunchy pieces of toffee throughout, which made the texture very unique and delightful. I also sampled the cinnamon, and it’s the best cinnamon flavoured anything I’ve ever tried.
To be honest (don’t judge me too much), I was going to get a double scoop, one coffee toffee and one cinnamon, but the serving size of just one single scoop was so big that I knew I couldn’t finish two, although I wish I had gotten the cinnamon and passed out with it all over my face mmmmmmmm…
I also happened to try my friend’s coconut ice cream, and I normally don’t like anything coconut flavoured, but this was smooth and tasted pretty good.
One last thing I’ll add is that they will take your ideas for flavours and if it’s one they think is a good idea, they’ll actually make it! I’m developing a formula for this, so stay tuned ;)
I’d definitely recommend this place for some of the best and smoothest tasting ice cream!
