H2O Float Spa

Fantastic spot.
If you haven’t floated, you must. If you’re checking out H2O on Unilocal,I will assume that you know enough about what floating is.
I’ve floated here 3 times now and everything is awesome.
Pros:
–atmosphere is super clean, calming and spacious
–float pods are very clean and comfortable
–open concept rooms are relaxing and a nice size if you want some space to stretch or tend to feel claustrophobic in a pod
–float rooms are nice, good showers and hygiene products
–the ginger tea before and espresso after are perfection
Cons:
–only one hour to float, would be nice to have a 90 minute option
–you will definitely hear the subway trains, or at least feel them vibrating, every few minutes… It is not as big of a distraction as you would think, but fact is it would just be better without those sounds and vibrations
Neutral:
–have had massages from two of their RMTs so far and I didn’t particularly like either of them… I don’t want to call out anyone specific but I think the RMTs should just talk less… I’m coming there to unwind and detach from the world, so ideally I would like almost NO conversation at all during the massage :) it’s my fault, really, because I should take responsibility to tell them this beforehand…

Purchased a block of three sessions here. The owner took her time showing me around and explaining the process and afterwards, brought me a nice hot cup of ginger tea and chatted with me. On subsequent visits, no one brought me ginger tea and no one chatted with me. On my third visit, there was quite a bit of unprofessional chatting going on at the front desk.
I would recommend floating to anyone who seeks a means to relax and completely unwind. They’ve put a lot of thought into this place and it shows in the cleanliness and attention to detail. I love the shower gel!
The first visit will be awkward. Any muscular tension will be magnified tenfold. I had to cradle my head. I felt lighter and more clear headed after I was done.
The second visit was better. Less cradling. More relaxation.
Third visit was so relaxing. No cradling necessary.
I tried both the pod and the open concept room. Both are very nice.
And yes, I could hear the subway occasionally, so chances are, your not going to get a complete sensory deprivation experience here.
I’d try this place out one more time.

Always stop in when Im in Toronto. Friendly staff it’s so relaxing to float and the tea and tangerine is a nice touch.

Upon entering H20, I found it beautifully decorated with friendly staff who evidently work hard to keep the place looking clean. They have everything you need in the change rooms – blow dryer, makeup remover, lockers with a removable key for you to bring in to your float room, etc. One thing that my boyfriend was a little uncomfortable about was the fact the change rooms are fully open and anyone could walk in and see you in your birthday suit. This didn’t bother me too much but I can understand how this would be a little nerve-​wracking for some people who like privacy.
After getting in and relaxing my body, I noticed a muffled, powerful noise that sounded somewhat like thunder. It stopped after about 20 – 25 seconds and so I just ignored it. But low and behold, 10 minutes later the rumble came again. I began to wonder where it was coming from a quickly realized it was the sound of the subway, right below!
Overall, everything was perfect aside from the location – they really dropped the ball on that one. Unfortunately I need silence to get the most out of floating so I do not think I will visit again.

Love the H2O float spa, so relaxing and resets my energy when I go.
Also affective when I get a cold or flu, helps me heal faster by removing toxins.
Definitely recommend trying it!

Absolutely pure bliss. Such a relaxing environment. Take a nice shower then relax in a dark pod and float away. Your whole body can just let go and fully relax without you having to hold it up. Its magical. Also very addictive. Really helps your muscles relax and helps with pain. A must for anyone.

Not a fan of the change rooms being so open. Would be much better if you could change in private stalls. The girl showing my partner and I around the pods admitted to never having floated before so she didn’t know if the pods were hard to open once inside. Found a used pair of ear plugs sitting on a shelf in the room which made me question the cleanliness. The shower in the pod room either sprayed freezing cold water or scalding hot. The floating experience itself was very relaxing but it was hard to really zone out with the subway running underneath. All in all, I had a decent experience but I was using a GroupOn. I would be upset if I paid full price for it.

Such an amazing experience!
My boyfriend and I indulged in a couples float. I highly recommend doing this in complete darkness. The feeling would be best described as floating in the womb; you’re warm, weightless and once you allow yourself to really loosen up and relax to the max, it’s like being in a meditative state.
Post float you feel like Jello; super chilled out, and less achy.
If you haven’t done this, do it. You don’t know what you’re missing.

Sensory deprivation is very difficult when a subway train goes underneath you ever 45 seconds. Unfortunate location choice for this business. I would go somewhere else if you are looking to relax. Other than this major concern the experience of floating is like nothing else.

Great experience — but don’t think I’d do it again.
I went on a Saturday night with my fiancé in the joint tub — we are both pretty tall people, so I was worried the tub wouldn’t be big enough, but we fit JUST right.
First of all — the spa itself seemed pretty clean & spa-​like — soothing music, warm air, and nice smells. I was a little confused as to the change rooms — I thought they would be connected to the room with more privacy, and not just a change room for all the women and all the men at the facility. Maybe they should time the floats so people don’t run into each other? It’s literally just one open room so if another person happens to be in there and you are shy about changing then there is no where to hide. Their robes were comfy — mine definitely had a small hole in it, but looked clean otherwise.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but the whole float experience wasn’t as relaxing as I had imagined — first of all, there were clearly still used cups in our room from the people before. They don’t clean?
Secondly, the shower we had to use before going into the tub was lukewarm at best. Not even remotely warm I should say — the air was warm in the room which probably made it seem extra cold, but honestly we stood there for like 5 minutes turning it both ways trying to make the shower warmer but just ended up braving it.
Personally, it took me a bit of time to relax, I keep getting salt in my eyes and up my nose — I probably spent the first 20 – 25 minutes just getting comfortable. It may have been a different story if I was in the pod though. The tub had lights you could change colours, I found them a bit distracting after a while and just turned them off.
It would have been nice if we could have changed the soundtrack — it was the same «nature» sounds on a loop for the whole time.
Near the end, the bath started feeling a lot more lukewarm and I kinda just wanted to get out. Our shower was a tiny bit warmer than before, but still uncomfortable after a nice warm bath.
They gave us a clementine? And some ginger tea afterwards — the ginger tea was amazing! Clementine, I was just confused and it was not clear exactly why a clementine was chosen as the after bath salt snack? But anyways — it was an interesting experience to try once, but I definitely don’t think I’d do it again.

Great float experience. They use the new sleek and futuristic pods. Although there was slight ambient noise from the subway, the overall experience was good. They have a great process that keeps everything relaxing and minimizes waiting. The tanks and the rest of the spa was spotless and well appointed. The shower was good and the soaps were high quality. Overall, a great experience.

I went for my first float today with my wife and it was a great experience. We chose the fully enclosed float pods (best for full float experience).
–Very clean and new looking spa. I would definitely go again.

I just came back from a float session and would totally recommend it! The place is clean and has great extra touches — like tea when you finish and a clementine. The people are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure that you have a good experience.
The float itself was really cool. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed it. Overall, it was very relaxing and a positive experience. Oh, and also a note that if you’re curious about the place like I was, it might be worth going in and asking more about the services. I did that a while back and they were really friendly and gave me a tour of the place so I could see the pods.

I can’t even seem to be able to get my foot into the door. I really wanted to try this out but the communication is just horrible.
I tried calling many times morning, afternoon and evening and the phone barely gets picked up (once every 3 times it does). And when it does my questions never get answered. I’ve been told many times «the person who can answer it isnt here right now i’ll let them call you back» which never happened. and my emails went unreplied.
I then made a booking 2 weeks in advance. A week later I got a call saying that I needed to change the date. I refused and they worked something out where I can still keep my appointment. I called them 3 days in advance and they said it was still ok. But the day before the appointment I got a call saying that I can no longer come!
I really wanted to try this but I don’t think I will be trying to book an appointment here again! It was very frustrating

I’m totally mixed on how I feel about this situation.
The spa is beautiful, clean, and friendly. At first glance, everything seems like it’ll be just perfect. The tank itself is probably more than you might expect. Sleek, comfortable, and futuristic.
The one problem here is one that I don’t think they can fix– the subway. They seem to have almost everything else figured out in terms of how to enhance the experience, but every 3 – 4 minutes you can hear the rumble of the subway beneath you. This completely shifts the experience of the sensory deprivation tank. I have to say that every time the subway rolled by I completely snapped out of the state that I was blissfully entering (and at times it seemed like the world outside was ending). Unfortunately with the rumbling the experience will never been as good as it should.
If they relocated away from the subway I’d definitely be back for the prices they are requesting. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be able to get the subway out of my head next time.
Still highly recommended for the experience, but if you are looking for a 100% sensory deprivation experience, I’d say this comes in at 80%.

It doesn’t get any cleaner than this! Sure, the place is new but still, it feels like they will keep it nice and clean. I’m not a big spa guy at all so I approach this from the angle of using a deprivation tank which Toronto was sorely in need of. There used to only be one located at Toronto Healing Center or something-​at Christie and Bloor… which was ok but far from ideal-​a little old. H20 gives you nice, clean smelling robes for hanging out in before you use whichever service you choose. The shampoo/​bodywash they supply is very nice. The enclosed pod is great: brand new, completely dark and run to the specs that deprivation tanks are supposed to be (temperature, amount of salt, etc.) They also give you the option of air pillow to support your neck, a sound system inside the tank as well as being able to leave the lights on inside the tank but it’s a deprivation tank! Aren’t you in there to get AWAY from the nonsense of sound and light? I don’t understand people who want to get away and then choose to bring their music and phone inside the tank. Anyway… The use of having the lights come on inside the tank when your time is coming to an end is much better than the previously mentioned place that instead has someone come and knock on the door to the room the pod is located in. It can be a little jarring if you’re deep into the sensation of nothingness. My only complaint is something that probably can’t be avoided in Toronto: Outside sounds have a way of creeping through. To have a business like this you pretty much need to be located on the subway line… but it’s that same subway that you took there that you can feel running, albeit, minor, every 3 or 4 minutes. And if you’re not hyper-​vigilant like me, this probably won’t even bother you. I think to have a pure deprivation tank experience you pretty much need to buy a tank and a system and run it in your house. H20 did initially offer late night floats which I wanted to do but being a procrastinator I took way too long to book an appointment and my guess is that the late night floats that went after the subway stopped running weren’t popular enough to continue doing-​so that’s my own damn fault. And for any guys that are looking to experience a deprivation tank and its benefits, book it on your own, don’t tell your wife or girlfriend because then they’ll want to do the couples float and keep the light on and it kind of defeats the purpose. Go on your own, enjoy it, tell her about it afterwards and then go with her when you’re more into the idea of spending time with the one you love… who can’t stop talking about ‘how nice it is to enjoy some peace and quiet together’.

I first heard about this new spa through my managers at work and decided to take my boyfriend here for our anniversary and give it a whirl. What better way to spend the day than to be in relaxing waters! I wasn’t very keen on the idea that they don’t clean out the water after every session. Although, it has said that the water is filtered and sanitized, and being in such large amounts of epsom salt, it would’ve killed all the bacteria. They have two choices, the single pod suite (that allows you to close the pod completely) and offers and the couples’ suite (that is like a miniature pool), which are completely sound-​proof to allow you to find your state of «zen». We obviously went for the couples’ suite, which had about 10 – 12 inches of water and 10,000 pounds of epsom salts. Once you get into the spa, we were asked to change into robes and slippers and walked into our treatment room as our hostess thoroughly explained everything we needed to know about the floating session. We started off showering off using their very nicely scented Soapstone products (shampoo, conditioner and body wash) and then slowly slid into the pool for our floating session. There was the option to leave the lights on or turn them off completely so you are in a pitch black room. At first, I found it was hard to relax and any movement in the water causes you to move around the pool but once you do relax it was euphoric! One thing to be cautious about is getting water in your ears and salt water in your eyes. Remember to use the earplugs they supply you and the water bottle to rinse your hands before touching your eyes. They also give you the option to use blow up pillows that help give your neck some more support when floating. After floating for an hour, we showered off afterwards and walked back into the change room to find water, a cup of ginger tea (which was delicious) and a piece of chocolate for the both of us, which was a nice gesture. All in all, it was a good one time experience, that left both our skin feel baby soft and relaxed.

It was a beautiful day outside and the gf wanted to go to H20 Float Spa. I had no idea what to expect, except floating. I entered the front door to be greeted by the owners. They were quite friendly and informative on how Float Spa worked. There are solo pods that close up and have interior lighting for individual floaters, and there is a tub for multiple floaters that have lighting in the tub for a more relaxing atmosphere. It is also optional to have it pitch black.
So we went in the tub and it was like it was impossible to sink into the water. There was about 10 kgs of Epsom Salt in the tub. So word of advice don’t get it in your eyes, ears (earplugs), mouth, or nose. If you have any open wounds use the Vaseline they provide you.
So I personally liked it pitch black because I could fall asleep in the water. Unfortunately since I was sharing the tub with the gf and she preferred the lighting of the tub, we kept it on and I didn’t get to fall asleep. After it was all done we (gf) noticed smoother and softer skin. Overall I would say this is a great place to experience at least once in your life. The only thing holding me back from continuing to revisit often is the price as it takes a bit of a toll on the wallet to snooze in water. Again that’s just my opinion. It was $ 90 for the both of us for an hour and a half. $ 45 per person, and this was the price for happy hour. All in all a good time. Namaste!
