Joe Singer Shoes is by no means a great shoe store. In the display you may find a few fashionable pairs, or a fuzzy pair of boots good for winter, or even some fancy dress shoes that may reel you in, but it’s really just a regular shoe store; nothing that special about it. However, that being said, there is a reason why Joe Singer Shoes is a decent place and that is Mr. Joe himself. Upon walking into Joe Singer Shoes a few summers ago looking for a good pair of sandals, an elderly, stout man yells at me from across the room: ” Oh my goodness! Well, hello! Aren’t you the most beautiful girl I have ever seen… Look at that smile!“ Well, hello indeed! Now, whether it was the smooth talking salesman that took me hook, line, and sinker, or his friendly demeanor, but Joe is a wonderfully talkative man who almost got me! While I browsed the ladies footwear I couldn’t help but fall into conversation with Joe. I learned all about his past, his travels, his many business ventures and I am convinced that this is why ladies shop at this shoe store.(By the way; it’s more of a shoe store that a little old lady would enjoy, as opposed to the hipster 22 – 35 crowd, though I have found some shoes there that were half-decent…not that I’m a hipster in any way, shape or form, but, you know what I mean). You won’t save any money(unless there;s a sale, which will help you score a decent pair of heels for $ 20) at Joe’s. It isn’t Payless, and sometimes what you’re looking for is not available in the colour displayed outside or in your size, but its a pleasant shopping experience nonetheless. I believe the reason for Joe Singer’s success is due to the store’s namesake; a very friendly and nice man who thanks you for your time even if you leave empty handed. It makes your time their memorable and I’m sure that I will venture back one of these days because the store keep will be at the back of my mind.
