Kinnear Lock and Key

Great help recently when a key broke in a lock for one of my clients. Turnaround time was great, and great Customer Service to let me know step by step when someone would be there and when the job would be completed. It’s refreshing to have such good service.

I recently purchased a rental property and needed two new exterior locks. Contacted Kinnear Lock and spoke to Johnny the owner. I was expecting to have to book an appointment for some time in the future but was pleasantly surprised that Johnny would be able to do the job later that day. Johnny was quick, professional and hilarious. Was very happy with the service and would recommend Kinnear lock to any of my family and/​or friends.

IMaybe there is a new owner but when I went there in Feb 2014 the boss was behind the counter. I told him I needed a duplicate key to an old 90s Nissan, no chip. but the key was worn and bent. I fully expected him to say no, the key was too damaged, but all he wanted to know was if the car was in the lot? I said yes, and I watched him make 5 different keys, each time with tiny adjustments to the offset, to compenate for the wear. The last try was perfect and he only charged me for 1 key and not for his time. Sure didn’t make any money on that sale. Other shops had given up. This guy took it as a personal challenge, I think. Highest recommendation

How can this business possibly endure with service like this?
I needed a new deadbolt and saw this little shop on the side of the road on my way home from work. I walked in to find 4 employees behind the counter talking amongst themselves. I stood, bewildered, at the counter as not one of them even made eye contact with me. I asked politely «Which one of you can best help me?»
That’s when the little wee man (who I’m guessing was boss based on his ownership of the conversation and the looks of false interest from the others) turned to me and said «Him!» as he pointed to one of his peons. «Get over here right now Mitchell. Now!!!», he said. Mitchell (or whatever his name was) reluctantly walked over and the wee weasel turned to me and said, while emphatically chewing his gum, «Just kidding, I know more than these guys».
I began explaining that my deadbolt had seiz… «Oil it», he interjected. I said «Well, if you’d just let me explain that…» «OIL IT!», he said again. I was beginning to get perturbed but I really needed a new lock, so I tried again. I finally was able to explain that I had tried WD-​40 and that the bugger was truly seized.
He said «Where’s the lock?» I said, «On the front door at home». He said «And where the hell is the front door?» He then turned to his coworkers and said «Jeez, it’s like I’m speaking a different language here». «Where the hell do you live???»
I asked him what the location of my home has anything to do with providing me a simple replacement deadbolt. He said «So we can come and fix it». I explained I didn’t want them to come and fix it, that I simply wanted a replacement deadbolt!
He said «Fine, how many keys do you need with your new lock?». I said «Four.» He asked again, «No…how-many-keyyyys… do you neeed… with your NEW lock?» in a very slow and condescending way.
I said «Fooouuuuurrrrrr, jeez, am I speaking a different language here»?
He didn’t take well to my retort and said something about how I’m being a very difficult customer to serve.
I then called him a dickhead and walked out the door to howls of «WOW, simply WOW! What a hothead!»
So if you want to be treated like a deadbolt, go see the wee weasel at Kinnear Lock and Key.
