McKinnon Heating Cooling

I was very disappointed with the service provided. A technician came out and diagnosed that the issue with my heating was due to a faulty circuit board and thermostat and that both needed to be replaced at a cost of over $ 2k. They recommended that instead I replace the entire furnace ($ 8k estimate) as otherwise I would be riddled with problems in the future. At this time the owner was even nice enough to get on the phone with me to explain it and even provide me with a personal cell number. I thought that was a very personal touch and great customer service.
Here is where it goes awry… Before spending $ 8k I decided to get a second opinion. The second technician (not from McKinnon) was able to find a loose connection on the board and sodder it within 10 minutes, fixing the problem completely. I understand that sometimes these issues are hard to diagnose so I figured I’d give McKinnon a call to let them know. I spoke to the owner once again who said that he could not do anything about the $ 275 charge for a WRONG diagnosis and hung up the phone.
NEVER DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF!!!

I was very disappointed by the visit that cost me over $ 150. The serviceman did not introduce himself by name or introduce his helper. I had to introduce myself first. I would have liked a better introduction and explanation of what would be done during the visit. I would have liked a better indication that he was from McKinnon. He wasn’t wearing a badge and didn’t offer any identification.
They kept their boots on as they walked through my home. Consequently I had to vacuum and wipe my floors after he and his assistant walked through to the basement and out the back door.
At the conclusion of the visit I would have liked an explanation before being asked to sign the work order. I had to ask for an explanation of the notes. The serviceman did give me some tips on what to watch for should there be a leak of refrigerant but indicate that the unit is over 10 years old and the refrigerant can no longer be replenished for this unit.
