Metro Toronto Convention Centre

I love going to the MTCC when there’s an auto show or something special going on.
Be prepared for a lot of walking, this building is huge. There should definitely be more signage directing people to certain parts of the building.
Usually I don’t drive, I’ll take public transit and it’s an easy walk over to the MTCC. Arriving in, it seems like there’s so much to do, you won’t have enough time to go and see everything (and you really won’t).
I love coming here for events though.

Been to a few events at this venue. It’s truly perfect for any tradeshow of any size. It’s very clean and shiny. When inside the tradeshow, signage is great, it’s signage outside of the halls that is lacking.
There should be more sign to show you which building you’re going into. I needed the North Building and ended up in the South Building. Once you follow the signs to the North Building, there is nothing telling you which direction to the bridge or that there IS a bridge. Floor maps would be helpful as well.
The signage at Union Station could use some help for the MTCC as well. I wondered around Union and I only found 1 sign.

I went there for The Yoga Conference and Show (April 9 – 12, 2015) and had a good time. The venue for the conference was clean and well kept. The washrooms were frequently cleaned and restocked.
It was difficult to find a water fountain or station to refill water bottles — I wish they had some in more visible areas or even near the washrooms. I found one tucked all the way at the back of the venue, and it is so key to stay hydrated as you attend the workshops at a yoga conference.
The conference itself was not bad — it was my first time attending. Lots of different workshops to attend (free in the Yoga Garden) and the entry fee was only $ 15 for all 4 days. There were a lot of vendors but many of the items were overpriced and could be purchased for a lot less outside of the conference. They really lacked in the food selection. You can get mainly vegetarian food, smoothies and tea. Nothing really stood out and it was overpriced as usual. You are better off finding a restaurant near by the area.

I come to the MTCC once a year for the Canadian International Auto Show. Although this show isn’t a patch on some of the larger auto shows, it’s the best we get in Canada, so for that reason alone it’s worth the trip.
The Convention Centre itself is MASSIVE and can be hard to get around. The on-​site food is always disappointing so I would recommend eating on your way to or from the convention centre.
Tip: If you’re coming here for the car show, get there early to avoid the lines. It can get crazy!

I really like the MTCC!
I usually go to 2 – 3 events a year at the convention centre and always enjoy myself.
I love the fact that there are washrooms everywhere and that they are always maintained.
The centre itself is huge! With two different sections to visit especially if you are at the auto show.
The fact that there is a walkway directly from Union station to the centre is very convenient.
My only gripe? The food and drinks are ridiculously overpriced! To be expected of course, which is why I usually sneak in some drinks ;)

The MTCC is a great place to attend conventions and shows, and is probably the largest convention center in the GTA area. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, and believe it or not, this place looks exactly the same! Yes, the décor has barely changed and the interior is identical to what it looked like years ago. I honestly think the carpet looks the same as it did back then as well. Although the place could use a refresh like the Art Gallery of Ontario or the Royal Ontario Museum, this place probably doesn’t get too many tax credits from the government to justify it.
I come here at least 2 – 3 times a year for the Fax Expo, Canadian International Auto Show, and Import Fest. Most of the shows use the entire MTCC, but that’s where the problems occur. As a convention center as a whole, it’s big, but when you have a huge show like the International Auto Show, the place just seems too small. There is barely much room to move within the aisles and the show is spread across so many rooms, it gets confusing. The could break a few walls and renovate it so it’s more central, but that probably won’t happen.
Transportation wise, it’s very easy to get to by TTC via Union station. There is a direct skywalk to the MTCC and it will be around a 8 minute walk from Union. You can also park directly at the MTCC parking lot, which I have done on several occasions, but it usually costs about $ 30 – 40 during big events. I suggest street or private parking lots, which can range from $ 10 – 20.
Overall a great place to go, when you’re hitting that local show or event, but they could use some renovation and planning to make this place easier to navigate through. It is a landmark in Toronto however, so it deserves at least 3 stars for being the main host to so many events throughout the year!

It’s a convention centre — there’s nothing special about this place — but it’s huge and it looks good compared to some other convention centre’s globally.

The MTCC gets a solid 3* in my book.
Over the years, I’ve had to spend many hours here as either an exhibitor or attendee. On the bright side, it has almost everything you would need to run a successful show. The halls are very spacious and there are many rooms that can be booked for seminars, product demos etc. The staff I have interacted with have mostly been very nice and professional.
There have been a few items that have really annoyed me over the years and it’s frustrating that not much has improved. For one, there is terrible cell reception in the large exhibit halls. I’ve been through every provider since I first started coming to the MTCC and this has never changed! Finding a decent place to have lunch is also an issue. Your choices basically simmer down to Subways or walking to Union Station! Finally, the walk to Union is not all that short, but I don’t suppose anything can be done about this.
Overall, you will end up here for something or another at some point if you live in this city and your experience will likely depend more on how the show is run than the building itself!

There is not much too review this place at the time that I went. It was for the Toronto Pro Supershow and it was the pre judge session.
The venue was huge, lots of room and amenities inside. The security and workers were good and informative on where we needed to go.
They have a beautiful orchestra stage and comfortable seating. Not much to complain about from me. It was a comfortable experience. Nothing bad to say about this venue.
PS this review may get altered as I go into more event held in this venue. So keep in mind that this may be altered again.

I had an excellent time attending the Auto Show at the Metro Convention Centre, if there is one thing that I would recommend, if attending the Auto Show, or any show here for that matter, is to go earlier in the morning as it becomes a mad house very quickly. For anyone who has never been to the Auto Show, definately check it out, whether you’re searching for a new car, interested in seeing the old muscle cars or just looking for something to do.
I quarantee, no matter who you are, you’ll find something that sparks your interest and you’ll have some fun at the same time.

I went to the convention center yesterday for first time to attent the auto show. It is a huge facility that can take a few hours to go through completely. It took me almost 4 hours to go through all the cars and the floors. Weekends are obviously more busy.

My father and I headed to the The National Franchise and Business Opportunities show on Sunday at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre — North Building. I attend events at this location all the time (corporate kids Christmas parties, car shows, electronics shows, etc). It is a fantastic location and I am always happy with the venue. Event was organized… when we first walked into the Convention Centre, there was greeters directing us to the Franchise show location. We moved quickly into the event, and made our way through the hallways, looking at and discussing the various opportunities, etc. Definitely got our «Creative Business Ideas» juices flowing.
Always a good location. The Franchise Show was well put on. I’ll be back every year for it.

As a attendee this building is great. Their parking lot is huge even though it fills up (about $ 20 a day, but you can find parking across front street for $ 15). Washrooms (and the whole place in general) are always clean. Amazingly easy to get to via TTC which is a huge plus.
The food that’s available has gotten A LOT better recently. Food Dudes (yes the food truck people) is now an official caterer here, and they’ve worked out the problems that were preventing them from bringing food trucks into the building in the past. So at your next event here be sure to check out the food section for the trucks!
If you’re looking for a place to stay the Intercontinental is directly attached to the MTCC for easy access, but since the IC ain’t cheap there’s also a bunch of hotels nearby.
Minus 1 star for not having public wifi. In this day it should be a standard in consumer facilities, especially in this place where the basement gets shoddy reception.

It’s tricky rating a convention center. I’ve been to quite a few in the USA, and although the Metro Toronto Convention Centre is quite a bit smaller than McCormick Place in Chicago or the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, it exceeds both in cleanliness, efficiency, and ease of use. Conveniently located in downtown Toronto, there are quite a few dining, shopping, and lodging options nearby. The MTCC is directly connected to the InterContinental, which is nice if the weather is not ideal for walking outdoors.

I’ve been there several times for various events. They do a pretty good job of making it easy to find what you are looking for whether it be a fan expo or a auto expo.
The building is very large and well maintained separated into a north and south section. They are split up by the rail-​road tracks. If they have an event here, and you would like to go, be prepared for a crowd as this place was made for huge amounts of people.
Parking is a bit of a problem but that is pretty much the case everywhere down town so I would suggest parking a little further away than normal. This way, when the place closes up, you can get away from the crowd and traffic quickly.
Hard to say anything else because most other items are determined by the event, not the location.

I’ve come here for a number of events now ranging in size from a small-​ish day of talks and presentations in the theatre to grandiose ones like the International Auto Show. Though your experience really relies on the event you’re attending some of the basics still need to be covered by the convention centre and they do things well. The washrooms are always attended to, the security people are generally nice and help you get around, and there’s always cleaning staff around to sweep up and keep things looking nice. In some of the hallways there’s some cool art on the walls.
If you’re holding an event you might be a little limited on choices but the MTCC seems to always be a good one.
February Food-​Free Unilocaling Challenge ²⁶⁄₂₉

While many reviews of the MTCC end up being influenced by the shows they host there — this one is purely of the venue as an event space.
MTCC is one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) event spaces in Toronto — especially impressive considering it’s location, attached to Union Station and the CN Tower through a 5 minute trek on the Skywalk, right downtown.
The venue has 64 (SIXTY FOUR!!) furnished meeting rooms, as well as three halls capable of hosting the largest trade shows in the city, and a theatre. There are washrooms, cafes, ATMs and convenience stores in the facility — and it is surrounded by hotels to make it a bit easier for exhibitors and guests.
The most impressive thing about the MTCC is one many people don’t know about — their amazing chef and menu. They can host large gala events (I’ve been to one that had thousands of people in attendance) and their menu is to die for. It really says a lot that they can make 5 star food for a crowd that large!
With all these great factors in such a large facility — another impressive factor is that they are a green facility. They’ve won many awards for their green policies, and even offer a package to meeting planners to make their event «zero waste».
The MTCC also supports student scholarships!
All in all, it is an impressive space capable of amazing events for any size events.

Attended the Interior Design Show here the end of January and this convention centre is really prepared for the masses.
The hall had plenty of staff to direct you and inform you.
I did find it kind of odd that ATM’s were few and far between, I actually had to leave the show and go out and downstairs to get some money to buy something at the show — not very convenient… so get money prior to going into the building !
Washrooms — which are always important at venues where there are a large amount of people — they were clean and really very nice !

I don’t go to Metro Toronto Convention Centre that often. Maybe once or twice a year.
I found most of the trade shows that held here were Meh… aside from the annual Yoga Conference which I enjoyed.
Clean washrooms and Tons of ATM machines… Seems like at every events I went to there’s always a line at the ATM?
The prices of most of the events that held here are usually more pricier than other locations, but I guess since it is the place to be for anything big or international?!
Car shows? Bridal Shows? Food and Wine Show? Yoga Show? Cultural Show?
You would find something here that you would enjoy!
