Historique

Fondé en 2005.

A labour of love founded by Canadian Film Composer Donald Quan as a response to having to perform in less than ideal gig conditions and a place to present his unbelievable collection of unique musical instruments from around the world

Gérant de commerce

Born in Toronto and schooled at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Quan was the recipient of the Joe Venuti scholarship for stringed instrument performance. After Quan left college, he ventured into pop/rock music with the Canadian rock band Lighthouse and played with them for three years.

Quan has been a long-time band member of Canadian singer Loreena McKennitt and has assisted in the production of several studio albums and recordings including the acclaimed The Book of Secrets.

Quan’s film music company Q Music Inc. has provided music services to hundreds of television, film, radio and multi-media productions including the popular television shows Relic Hunter (starring Tia Carrere for Fireworks Entertainment), Mutant X (Tribune Entertainment), Tracker (starring Adrian Paul for Lions Gate), Starhunter, and the notable Aboriginal TV drama Moccasin Flats as well as feature film Expecting.

Located inside 401 Richmond lies the Musideum. For those of you that remember the section of the Ontario Science Centre which was nothing more than a cacophony of musical chaos, you may have some concept of what to expect within the walls of the Musideum.
There are all number of instruments — but nothing you might expect to find. The most well known instrument here might just be the percussion frog. There are thumb pianos, and cigar box guitars. There are — well, I don’t know — long, flute like instruments… except their a meter long.
The Musideum offers concerts that you can check out — and on those days, the eclectic chaos seems to be somewhat removed. There is a sense of order…
But on the days off, instruments line the walls, cover the floor, and find themselves poking out of all sorts of nooks and crannies.
There’s a gas powered one man band, and pink bird slide whistles.
Feel free to use the theremin in an effort to replicate the Star Trek theme song. The owner has it down.
