I’ve never heard of National Thrift/National Thrift Store. They have two locations in Scarborough; one on Kingston Road and another on Lawrence Road E. It won’t be that easy for you to find out about it; there is almost zero web presence. When I asked the guy about this he said people have been finding them without it. It’s possible that National Thrift is well known in Scarborough and they are happy enough with that. This store deserves 4.5 stars. The only way it could be better is if there was Chanel lurking in the racks. What they have is a nice selection of gently used clothing, a substantial portion of which has original price-tags and store labels attached. The store is clean, quiet, well-organized, well-stocked. Nice change rooms and pleasant staff. They are strong on clothes and not so good on housewares or jewellery. The man at the counter says they get 500 new items a day. A few more reasons why I am likely to repeat the ridiculously long TTC trip it took me to get to this place. They will text you to alert you to 50% off days. You get stamp cards and when you accumulate enough stamps, you get 50% off. You can make a day of it — visit the Kingston Road location, visit the Value Village further West, then visit the Lawrence location. All of those stores have parking lots! I say this is worth the trip to Scarborough and maybe you’re lucky enough to be in the neighbourhood already.
