Quantum Coffee

Got a cold brew ($ 4), which was potent and had a unique, slightly bitter taste. It was ready in a jiffy.
Some Unilocalers have found it cool, but I found the space a bit strange. Maybe it’s an advantage when it’s very busy, but ordering on one side and picking up one’s drink on the other side of the room seems very strange and unnecessary.
The common workspace is beautiful: large, minimal, and communal. The ceilings are very high. I could imagine working here for a long time.

Ordered the latte on ice, $ 4. Pretty good, strong. We requested the lady to put less ice cubes because originally 60% of it was filled with it. She kindly took them out and filled it up with more latte :)
The coffee shop was modern and hip looking. It is attached to BrainStation, so there was a room attached with multiple tables where people gathered and some appeared to study together. This spot is right beside the streetcar on Spadina, convenient for commuters.

Quantum coffee is a very impressive coffee shop, ultra modern and very well organised.
The coffee is outstanding and the baked goods are excellent also the staff are friendly and helpful ‚
I would recommend giving it a try!

How the heck did they score so much space?! Located at the northwest corner of King and Spadina, Quantum has prime real estate. Open concept, natural light streaming in through nice, large windows. It’s a great space to study, chat, meet up with friends.
In terms of environment, the Saturday morning I went, there were tons of students parked everywhere to the point that it was difficult to find seating. Laptops and notes everywhere. It felt like a library. So beware, it looks like a popular haunt for the university crowd during the school year. However, it’s a nice place to get some work done, regardless of whether you’re a student or not.
In terms of the drinks and snacks, I ordered a latte and a croissant. Overall, they were fine, but I’m sure you could find better elsewhere. The croissant was nice and flaky but nothing out of the ordinary (also, despite all their technology, they don’t have a microwave to heat up their pastries if you request it). When I asked for my croissant to be heated up, the barista apologized and said they don’t have the ability to, but that they’re made freshly every morning. The latte was alright. The beans were lightly over roasted and the drink wasn’t as hot as I’d like. It was pretty average.
The space is such a winning point that I’d definitely come back here to do some work if I had a chance, provided I can find seating. It’s a popular spot, and once you see the space, you’ll understand why. A nice addition to the Toronto coffee shop scene, for sure, mostly because of the environment. For my latte and croissant, I paid around $ 7.00.

This is a relatively new place that is on the corner of Spadina & King. It’s a huge space for a coffeeshop, and beautiful to boot. Clean, minimalistic lines, with lots of white, metal, and brick, and a lot of natural sunlight. There are a few terrariums and succulents for that hipster look.
The ordering and making of coffee are done at separate counters, so it eases up the congestion of people, which is great, Go to one counter first to order your drink and grab baked goods (they have a delicious-​looking assortment of homemade pop tarts, croissants, scones, and other things), and a varied menu of coffee drinks. Lattes, cold brews, etc. and they have almond milk if you want to add it for $ 0.75.
The coffee tastes great and the latte was not skimpy in size. They have nice mugs and plates if you drink it there — perfect for those social media photo ops.
The space is also really pretty with exposed brick, high ceilings, and lots of sunlight. The WiFi only works in the brick space with tables and chairs (not if you hang out by the counter where you order against the walls), so plan accordingly. Most people look like they’re there for a while with laptops, etc., so you may have to share a table or wait for a while until someone moves. The whole middle of the space does not have any tables which may be a little bit of wasted space, but it also keeps the area looking nice, and doesn’t have everyone scrunched up on tables next to each other. If you want that kind of feel, just to go Starbucks or a library.
No password for the WiFi which is great (and it actually works, and is fast), good coffee, good-​looking pastries (didn’t try any), and a beautiful space that you’ll enjoy spending time in. I’d come back here again if I’m in the area.

Very hipster. coffee is a bit overpriced, but comparable with other chain coffee shops. There’s lots of room, but they don’t know how to use the space properly. Customer service was great. I’m giving this place only 3 stars, because I found this place to be quite plain and boring.

Good coffee and chill ambience, the perfect combination for a unique café experience. Loved the interior design of the place that was spacious and minimalist. Though the other section was closed off and I’m left with the window seats, they were pretty comfortable and I was able to get some work done.
Ordering comprises of paying at the cashier and collecting your drink at the other side of the café which is where the baristas make the coffee. The other section is owned by brain station and they usually occupy it from 5.30pm till closing. So if you’re looking to sit in the bigger section, go to the place before 5.30pm unless you’re okay with the window seats. There is free wifi and it doesn’t have a password. Also, if you would like to have water, simply ask ome of the baristas and they’ll be happy to pour you a cup.
Would definitely recommend anyone who wants a quick coffee fix or finding a place to be productive!

I love the space but for latte/​espresso-​based drinks, I rather go back to Manic, Darkhorse, Fuel, Rooster, Mercury.

Finding cafes that aren’t Starbucks or Tim Hortons that are open past 5 PM in Toronto can be a bit of a challenge, especially if you want to stay within the downtown core. I’m extremely picky with the type of cafes I like to sit and get my work done at. Lots of space, Wi-​Fi and outlets are a definite must. After a quick Unilocal search, I landed on Quantum Coffee. I recalled passing by it when the café was still under construction back in fall when I was working at King and Spadina for a short while
My friend and I awed and oohed when we arrived at the café. Absolutely spacious and appealing to the minimalist lover in me, Quantum Coffee is one of my ideal cafes to get work done. There are plenty of seating for customers and overall has that beautiful space for you to enjoy your time at.
Quantum Coffee is the first café in Toronto to have a Poursteady, an automated machine designed to make your drink perfect every time (and several others at once!). They also have a drink feature that changes every 89 days, called the Quantum Planck. When I was there, it was the Crème Brulee Cappuccino ($ 5) that was featured. The top of the drink was torched!
Highly recommend for café lovers to check this one out.

This coffee shop is absolutely amazing! There is nothing I can critique on, only compliments.
Let’s start with the environment. THIS is what a coffee shop should be. BRIGHT lights, TRENDY, AMPLE amount of Windows & most importantly, OPEN SPACE so you don’t feel cluster phobic. This is the perfect atmosphere to do work or readings. The playlist is also on point, not too loud and the songs are !!
Onto the coffee itself. I ordered a latte and it’s the best latte I’ve had in Toronto. The temperature is just perfect to drink. The milk is froth perfectly and compliments the expresso shot perfectly. The latte itself is on the stronger side comparing to Starbucks which I definitely prefer. I also had their Rocky Road cookie and it blew my mind. Super chewy and enjoyable. It’s so filling that you probably need 2 people to split it.
Service was excellent. Cashiers were super nice and helpful. The place was really packed but I talked to one of the cashiers and he managed to find a spot for 2.
I definitely recommend going earlier if you plan on staying for a longer period of time.

Quantum is a very sleek, bright and modern coffee shop. When we walked in, there were two sides but you order from the side with the menu posted on their wall. I ordered a mocha latte and my friend order the pour over coffee. We were then instructed to go to the other side to pick up our orders. Since my friend ordered a pour over coffee, I was expecting the barista do actually do it themselves. But instead they used a pour steady machine! Amazing! I never saw this kind of machine that does it for you. Apparently, they’re brand new and one of a kind.
My mocha latte was nice and sweet but not too overly sweet. And my friend loved the pour over, she said it was smooth and not too bitter. I’ll definitely come back and hopefully next time I’ll be able to sit in as the seats fill up fast!

Amazing décor, super minimalist with wooden floors and tables and white walls with black rods and window panels. Huge space mostly for people who like to work in coffee shops, spacious tables too. The staff are really friendly and the all over ambience goes well with King st west’s youth culture.
I had a medium latte (because the small looked too small) and it had double shots of espresso in it. The drink did not work for me because the double shot made the taste lean towards cappuccino and at the same time it had a lot of milk and foam too so my brain was just confused with its existing notion of what a latte should be. It will be good to mention that it might have been just my order and maybe I would have liked the single shot latte so it’s worth trying out the place again.
We also tried the hazelnut brownie which was super chewy and I didn’t like it at all. But their regular gluten free brownie is really good tho and I would recommend taking that with a cappuccino.

I like this place because of the cool factor. There’s neon lighting, they take your order on one side and serve you on the opposite side, and of course the crème brûlée cappuccino! However, there’s no prices listed for the wholesale drinks in the fridge, there’s no seating, and I found the people who worked there to be less than friendly (more of a too cool for school attitude prevalent here). You can walk through the café into the seating that’s actually part of Brain Station (of course in the evenings, when there’s classes in there, you won’t be sitting anywhere). There’s no washroom here either (again, it is part of Brain Station).
I like the concept of this place, but I think it would be much more sensible for there to be a washroom that is actually between the coffee shop and Brain Station’s rooms. It would also be nice if there was more than just 3 bar stools by the window. It would take away from that minimal feel this place has going, but frankly, the minimalism is not functional in this setting. I hope they make some much needed changes, because that crème brûlée cappuccino is not a drink you can take to go and I’d like to actually be able to sit down somewhere to enjoy it properly!

This is a really, really great coffee shop.
The open-​air concept for the café is wonderful and gives a good sense of flow. The wood floors are a terrific touch and serve to give the space a minimalist and organic feel.
I ordered an espresso and a mocha, both of which were excellent. The menu is simple and direct, which I appreciate over particularly convoluted or extended drink offerings at some other cafes. There is a good selection of pastries and other small things to nibble on. The separation of the cashier station and the drink pickup area, combined with all the space, means that you never feel pressed in while waiting to either pay or get your drink.
One of the nicer things about the open space is that this is a terrific place to have a conversation. Even when filled more or less to capacity it’s easy to hold a conversation without needing to speak up over the general noise of the café or music that is lightly playing in the back.
The only downside is that this place *does* fill up, and you can be waiting a while for a seat or table, especially if you’re coming as part of a group. It’s a great place to go, drink, socialize, or work but its very popularity is, in some respects, the sole problem associated with the café.
Ultimately, I highly recommend checking out Quantum Coffee. It’s well worth visit.

Beautiful space and design, very open and air-​y. Friendly service and a good selection not only of hot drinks, but also cold pressed juices from Greenhouse Juice, and baked goods. I like that the cashier area and the espresso/​tea area are separated, so there’s never a long line where you don’t know who is waiting to order and who is waiting to pick up their drink. I had a tea latte which was lovely, and a butter-​y delicious cheddar scone.
Only downside is that the use of space is very inefficient, especially given that this is the kind of place where people come with laptops and stay a while. Why are all the tables for 4 people, when many people come solo or with just 1 other person? Why is there all this wasted empty space in the middle of the room? I much prefer places that have tables or varying sizes and/​or a big communal table for those using the café as a work space. I came with 1 DC and we had to ask someone to share a table because there were no empty tables. It was also packed the last time I came (so I didn’t even end up ordered a drink, and went somewhere else instead). The upside of the big open space is that they can host pop-​up shops, like they did over the holidays.
This is a cool space and a lot more stylish than the old hostel that used to be there. I can see myself picking up a coffee here to go, but it seems too competitive to get a table so I will probably go elsewhere if I want to sit.

There is SO MUCH SPACE in this coffee shop.
If the directors of the next «Step Up» movie are looking for a place to film their next dance battle, look no further — Quantum Coffee is it.
This abundance of space makes Quantum Coffee a great place to catch up on your school readings or get some weekend work out of the way. The tables are nice and wide, and there’s an abundance of plugs for your laptop/​tablet. You won’t feel cramped staying at this place for long stretches of time, which will undoubtedly come clutch during exam season.
What I’m really curious about is how much rent the owners of this place are paying per month. This much square footage right on the corner of King and Spadina can’t come cheap. It’s insanity!

Quantum Coffee is very visually appealing. The black cup and little yellow lightening bolt definitely catches the eye. They have a different set up going on inside with the separate ordering counter and drink counter across the room. Also, they appear to have a flex space in the back, where I have come across a little market on my way to the restroom last time I was there. They have a small pastry selection, and I have also seen local apples for sale which appealed to me.
MORE and most importantly… their Americano is smooth, and really good. I enjoy stopping in here for a change when I am in the neighbourhood. The customer service is friendly on the cash side, and knowledgeable on the espresso side. I would recommend stopping in to check them out!

Saw this place on instagram, and it looked aesthetic af, so I had to pay a visit.
It was my first time coming here, and so it was a bit confusing at first with 2 different bars. I used my intuition to select the proper bar — the one with people lining up. It soon became apparent that you had to place your order at this bar (if you’re ordering a drink), and then head across the room to the other bar to pickup the drink.
While at the first bar, I saw a nice-​looking orange-​ish/​mango juice in a glass bottle. Low and behold it costed $ 11.00. I quickly dismissed that as an option. Instead, I ordered a coffee. It was ready almost immediately, and I moved to the counter to add milk and sugar (+1 point for the cool milk dispensers).
I migrated to the seating area, which is nice and open, with comfy, sturdy couches lining the outside. This place is busy, and so it’s quite common for you/​people to ask to sit at a table with a rando. One disappointing feature of the seating area is that in order to access an outlet to charge your laptop, you have to regress back into an infant and crawl underneath the couch. I hope that this place implements easy-​access-​outlets in the near future.
Another thing to note is that this place is network city. In the past hour, I’ve had many people come in here to network with each other. Other than that, there are mostly students. Thus, this café seems more like a working space, rather than a place to socialize.
Bonus: wifi is unprotected, thus no need to ask anyone for the wifi password. AND it’s fast af — 140+mb/s download and upload. How is that possible :/
