I was contacted by one of Randstad’s recruiters, Aamna, in response to a position I had applied for. She made an appointment for me to come in and discuss my qualifications and employment goals.
We had what I originally thought was a productive conversation, she let me know about a few clients she was working with that she felt I would fit well with, and she told me she would get back to me with more details.
I left that meeting feeling confident and no more than a couple hours later, Aamna called me to let me know about position that had just opened up that she felt I was perfect for.
And that’s the last I ever heard from her. None of my emails were ever returned, there was no followup, and all communication stopped dead. Aamna essentially became a ghost.
I get the impression that the recruiters at this agency aren’t serious about their jobs or actually placing people with employers.
In general they seemed fairly lazy, immature, and altogether not actually interested in their jobs. Which is frustrating considering how many postings they have on every available job board.
My experience with Randstad in general and Aamna in particular was incredibly disappointing and I would advise anyone considering working with this agency to save themselves the time and just apply to positions directly through company sites.

I was working for the randstad agency in Brantford. To be honest, I have never seen more incompetent people in my life. I asked for more information regarding a position and they placed me before I even knew what the position was.
When it came to receiving payment, the branch manager said it would be put in my account TODAY (which it was not), then she said it was in the mail. well which one is it? I have no idea. Honestly, if you want to find a good agency randstand is not the one to go to. I sure will never make that mistake again

I couldn’t agree more. This was one of the least professional agencies I have ever encountered. As the previous poster mentioned, the agents were completely disinterested. i came in with years of professional experience and excellent references. I felt that I was dealing with children who lacked depth and knowledge. The documents they had me sign were full of spelling and grammar errors. I pointed this out and was a bit surprised that they were disinterested, which says a great deal about the place. It is a job factory which specializes in «Mc Jobs». if you are serious about finding a decent opportunity Randstad is not the place to go. They will waste your time.

I was looking for a job late last year/​early this year, and I applied to one or two postings on Workopolis that were linked back to Randstad. They set up an appointment with you and you go in to meet with one of their… agents? Head hunters?
The woman I had a meeting with a woman (used to say her name here but Unilocal made me take it down). She was totally disinterested in actually talking to me, just randomly read off a list of set questions that had no flexibility in their answers. She was clearly much more interested in socializing with the other people who worked there. She then told me I had to take some computer tests, like typing and Excel.
Here’s the issue I have: Id already used Randstad twice before, and I’ve done the tests (which take FOREVER and are POINTLESS). So I said, «I’ve done them before, can I please just apply for the job?» and she said, «I can’t let you apply for any job until you’ve taken them.» They take over an hour and I just didn’t have the time, so everything was just a waste. I don’t know why they don’t save the test results.
And yes, they take up to 20% of the salary you end up with, so you will get paid way less than if you found the job independently.
