Richard Bloch is a psychotherapist who specializes in evidence-based treatment of adult stress, anxiety disorders, depression, addictive behaviour, insomnia, and irritable bowel syndrome. His primary approach to treatment is cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) and his clinical work is based in scientifically supported methods of assessment and treatment. Richard understands the challenging circumstances that prevent his clients from living the kind of life they want, and works collaboratively with them toward achieving realistic goals within a structured framework. Richard’s aim is to help each individual achieve life-enhancing and enduring change. Services are interactive, short-term, and provide the skills necessary to achieve a balanced perspective in everyday life. Richard is a member of the Canadian Psychological Association, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the Anxiety Disorders Association of America, and the Society for Psychotherapy Research. He is certified by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.

I received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from McGill University and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. My clinical training was completed at the Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy Clinic at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (formerly the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry) and I am certified by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. My clinical interests include recurrent depression, anxiety disorders, and the management of chronic health problems. My primary approach to treatment is cognitive-behaviour therapy and my clinical work is grounded in scientifically supported methods of assessment and treatment. In addition to working in private practice, I have been involved in cutting-edge research in depression, cognitive therapy, and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy in some of Canada’s leading clinical research centres including McGill University, the Montréal Children’s Hospital, and CAMH.
