Scotland Yard

Went here last night for a beer and a late dinner. The bartender was a lovely woman — personable, customer-​service oriented, cheerful, but not too chatty. Nice quiet establishment (of course I was there at like 9 pm on a Monday night). Plenty of beers on tap and full bar, Tandoori wrap with fries was an excellent little meal after a full day of travel and walking in downtown Toronto. Service is definitely two thumbs up!

There is something nice about an independent pub. Not part of a cookie cutter chain. The way pubs used to be. Are supoosed to be. Great draft selection. Layed back atmosphere. Perfect place to escape for a quiet afternoon pint whilst the Mrs is shopping! Will return again.

Someone deemed this place to have the best nachos in the area and it is hard to disagree with that decision. Otherwise a somewhat sad locale filled with punters trying to play darts and wait staff with an astonishing level of commitment phobia. Beer is overpriced given local competition, shots are on the level however.

I was here last week for an Oscar party that my friend hosts each year. This year was the first time at this place. Located on the Esplanade and next door to the Old Spaghetti Factory, there is ample parking at the Green P just up the street.
Walking in it’s pretty big — there is a section for playing darts, the bar area and then the dining area. It has a typical pub like feeling — dark wood tables, crappy chairs… you certainly won’t find Norm sitting here!
Service was ok, if not a bit slow — there only seemed to be 2 servers for the dining area and considering it was a pretty full section for a Sunday night I think there should have been more. They have several tv screens and they had a big screen up so people could watch the Oscars. They even had a special Oscar menu (so clearly this was planned, so then service should have been planned to handle the additional people on Sunday as well). I just chose the Revenant Poutine which basically was poutine… in a bread bowl. Not having seen the movie not sure how this ties into it… but I can take a guess.lol. It was $ 9. The poutine was fine — the typical poutine… the bread was ok… if not a little tough. Not particularly impressed. My friend had the burger and fries and really enjoyed it — she said it was nice and juicy. When we decided we wanted to get our bill… well that endeavor took about 20 minutes to flag our server down to get it. We were trying to be proactive to get the bill before the Oscars ended and a flood of people wanted to pay. Kinda didn’t work that way. But in fairness all the servers seemed really friendly and provided suggestions on the menu when we asked.
If I worked in the area I might go after work to grab a bite with friends and chill but I don’t think I would make any special trips down here for this place.

Always the friendly service. Food is pub style food and if that’s what you’re looking for, it’s great!

I’ve only ever been here for drinks, but have always had a great time (…from what I remember…).

It’s a place mostly for men to hang out to drink beer, eat wings and nachos and watch a game. There are dart games out there but it’s always busy. The wait staff is friendly and enjoy chatting with the guests. I found the nachos petty good. Chicken wings are good too. Veggie options are limited. The location is great.

I went with a group of 16 on Saturday evening and we had a fantastic time. Our waitress, Heather, was phenomenal. She handled our party like a champ. She always got the drink and food orders correct for each person and she kept all the bills straight without issue as everyone was either a couple or individual. She was friendly and took the time to joke around with everyone. Based on the service alone, we will be back.
We called last minute on a Saturday evening and they were able to get a large enough table together for us in under half hour. We had the back library all to ourselves which we really appreciated — allowed us to get up and mingle with each other without getting in the way of the wait staff and other customers.
Caesars are fantastic!
Food was decent. I had a cheeseburger which looked to be homemade and had a lot of flavour. Only complaint is that they really skimped on the cheese. I didn’t taste it at all! Side Caesar salad was also great. It had grated fresh parm as well as real bacon bits. The croûton weren’t the big massive ones, but perfect bite size pieces.
My friends had a variety of things: wings, sliders, poutine, Cajun wrap, nove sandwich, garlic cheese bread with bacon and gave it all rave reviews. One friend commented that the spicy wing sauce wasn’t spicy at all and had to ask for hot sauce on the side. All the food came out together and hot which we felt was huge for a party of our size.

This bar is joined with the old spaghetti factory, so it feels like it’s where the adults go after having dinner with kids. The food here was really good and satisfied the hunger for sure. The burgers were awesome and had great flavour and were super juicy. They have good variety of beers on tap for fair prices. Only comment is service was pretty slow when we went but it was slammed and they were understaffed in a day where there was just for laughs at sony center and both jays and leafs game. It was a bad combo, but knowing it’s a night like that id think you’d have all hands on deck.

Great setting, however the night food is pretty bad, compared to the other bars around here.

I love the patio here and the service is great. I had the California sliders and a house salad. The sliders were pretty good. I would have preferred fresh beef patties as the ones on these sliders were of the processed frozen variety, but the great toppings which include guacamole, made up for this. The salad was pretty standard. I wasn’t asked about a dressing choice but it came with balsamic which is what I would have ordered anyways.

They are suppose to serve Sunday brunch. Blah!!! Order a frittata that was tasteless and dry. :(. Service was soooo slow, even when there were only a few tables active. If you can’t do it right — don’t do it.

Went back here after having already dined here a few years ago (which was for a late snack and pint). I figured this was a safe bet for my nephew and his gf, who aren’t super adventurous when it comes to food. Considering the concert we were waiting to attend, my nephew’s gf and I ate light. I say ‘light’ but lie… as I couldn’t resist ordering the Poutine again (fries, gravy and cheese curds). The small order was good for 2 people. She also ordered chicken nugget sliders and I ordered BBQ pork sliders too. We shared so we could try both. I was convinced that because they were nuggets they would be awful and although they weren’t great, they weren’t awful. The addition of a good spicy sauce and banana pepper slice helped. We both agreed that if my BBQ pork sliders had more sauce, they would have been great but they were to dry. My nephews steak and frites (French for steak fries) was OK. He has Celiac so asked for them as plain as can be but the steak seemed to have a glaze (and some crushed red pepper). Quite a bit of tough fat prevented him from eating all of it. All in all we were mostly satisfied and we were quickly on our way to catch Faith No More at the Sony Centre for Performing Arts! The items mentioned and 3 drinks brought our bill to $ 61 before tip.

Great little Irish place over by the saint Lawrence market. First off they have all your staple local beers along with some irish obvious ones of course! Good stuff as usual!
The food was very good! The Shepards pie was tasty as can be! Whipped potatoes, savory gravy and beer as well as your staple peas and carrots! Very well done irish dish! As for desert, the peanut butter and jam soliders where deep fried something you’d expect from a summer amusement park! Yum! It tasted like deep fried dough mixed with peanut butter and jelly and a hint of banana. I loved it, it brought back that kid in you feeling!
Great stuff here at the Scotland yard, I’ll be back again!

Terrific vibe, great place to get filled before a Leaf’s or Raptors game, a concert, or just plain olé’ good service and pretty good food.
Their sweet potato fries are a step above, fish n’ chips only slightly lesser. SUPER service, the waitress had a great sense of humor, a solid sense of timing, and totally on the ball.
It’s a tad noisy (it’s a pub, yeah?) and the dart boards were constantly busy with competitors and spectators. There is a more intimate area to the back; it was packed so I had to sit by the non-​functional fireplace. It’s cozy and warm in there, and when the temp is -1 °F, it was a welcome respite.
Any time the help is that happy, you know it’s a good place with solid management.
It was my first visit, but def not my last.

Visited on Fri Jan 16 at 7pm. Called to make reservations in advance, and they actually saved us a table. The place was busy but not ram packed. There was no hostess station so we stood around for 5 min at the front. I had to walk up to a server at a computer to get their attention. Ordered a Somersby in a can and a Ceasar which was good. We had the poutine, salad and Sheppard’s pie which were all good. The food came really quickly which was great. We even threw around the darts for a bit. The décor is a bit run down. I came here on a Friday night and was acknowledged and seated quickly. My server kept my water glass full as we weren’t consuming the reasonably priced beer on this occasion.
There is a good amount of tvs to watch the game on. We ordered the fully loaded nachos and pulled pork sandwich with salad. The nachos were fantastic as well as a the sandwich. There was a large portion of salad which you can’t always get at a pub. The price was reasonable for downtown Toronto. The atmosphere was a little dark and crowded but still a decent place to grab drinks or a private heart attack meal.

Some decent priced food as far as downtown Toronto goes. You can get a highly loaded heart attack on a plate burger for about $ 15. This place sorely needs more beers on tap. When there’s a game on, it’s not anyone’s first destination, so if you’re looking for a pub that might have some space for a sit down with friends over a beer, try here.

Food is hit and miss. I had a very nice steak pie, but my wife’s fish was dry and not pleasant at all. There is a decent selection of draught beers, which make this not a bad place to stop by for a pint and bite to eat.
However, I find it very dark and dingy inside. They try to decorate like a traditional British pub, and to some degree achieve this aim, but despite that, the atmosphere just seems a little dark and off to me.

Gord and I had supper last evening at Scotland Yard. We’d never been there before.
The washroom is shared with the Old Spaghetti Factory, which is right next store and owned by the same owner.
I ordered Fish ‘n Chips. I substituted mashed potatoes for French fries (I wasn’t in the mood for them). The potatoes were good. The fish was just so-​so and could have been hotter (it was just warm). I thought it was a bit pricy for a couple small pieces of fish. I wouldn’t order it again.
Gord ordered Chicken Schnitzel. He wasn’t crazy about it and said it tasted sweet (maybe the browned butter?) He wouldn’t get it again.
It was a cute pub (apparently it’s been around for 40 years) and I’d go back again for a beer and perhaps a burger.
