The Sherbourne Animal Hospital is a health and wellness hospital for small companion animals in the heart of the St Lawrence Market/​Historic Corktown neighbourhood. We offer a wide range of on-​site services including wellness exams and vaccinations, dentistry, ultrasounds, spays/​neuters, surgery and nutritional consultations, plus we keep expanding our services.

We understand how important it is to develop a personal relationship with both you and your furry ones and we want you to feel confident that its important to us too.

We take pride in our medical and surgical care for your pets and and on our customer service because your pets are our pets.

Welcome to our hospital and thank you for your interest in learning more about us. I am a Canadian by adoption and a Colombian by birth. I developed my love toward animals early. As a child, I spent a lot of time with my father (who is also a vet) traveling around farms and helping with a variety of animals. There were late nights during calving season and early mornings with birthing puppies, there was never a dull moment.

While in Colombia, I grounded my roots in veterinary medicine at LaSalle University and I received my degree as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. I decided to leave Colombia and further my education in North America. I got into a year-​long fellowship program at the University of Florida, followed by a small animal rotating internship at Angell Animal Medical Center, WNE.

With two dogs of our own, and one that we are fostering, we have been to see Dr. Oscar a few times. I am slightly neurotic, so I like to make a list of my questions– Dr. Oscar does not act like this is crazy in the least, and takes the time to answer each and every one. I never feel rushed in the appointment, which is something I have experienced with other vets. I can tell that Dr. Oscar truly loves animals — he even got down on the ground to cuddle with my pup today :) The vet techs are also completely lovely, and have been incredibly accommodating with my schedule. We are so happy to be patients of Sherbourne Animal Hospital!

We took my little Ziggy to this clinic yesterday and had a very good experience Dr. Lucia was great and handled my new 9 week old kitten with care. She was also able to answer all the questions I had, I am a first time kitten owner so I really appreciated the help! Thanks!

visited the hospital today for my cat Tina’s last set of vaccine and blood work for neutering. The experience was absolutely awesome! The receptionist and nurses were very friendly, I did not wait at all (I was late too, sorry about that). I was greated by the energetic Dr. Oscar. He asked me if I had any concerns or questions and patiently answered all my questions without sounding rushed. As a first time cat owner this was really great. He also mentioned about various different things that I should pay attention to. And in the end when I forgot about my last question he even went through all we talked about to help me remember what the question was! Absolutely great experience. I went to a different vet before I moved downtown, and compared to that vet Dr. Oscar deserves 10 stars. The price is very reasonable and invoice is clear. Strongly recommend!

This place is really wonderful. They treat your pet so lovingly and explain everything (including price) before they do it.
We’ve seen Dr. Oscar and Dr. Lucia and both are amazing! Most of the reviews talk about Dr. Oscar (who is wonderful), so the first time we visited we definitely wanted to see him. He took the time after hours to email and find out how Hurley was doing, which was above and beyond what I expected! Our experience was great and has kept us coming back and recommending this place to all of our furry friends.
This most recent visit we decided to see Dr. Lucia because the appt time she had available worked better with our schedule. She too was amazing! Got down on the floor to greet our dog, was so kind and gentle when Hurley was nervous during the exam. She took the time to walk me through what she was doing, how much it would cost and next steps for post appointment, while also being very efficient and getting me and Hurley finished quickly.
Overall we love this place! Both Dr. Oscar and Dr. Lucia make any visit to the vet a good one. Highly recommend!

Hello all,
My dog suffered a seizure for the first time a few days ago and I needed to find a new veterinarian. I searched on Unilocal for a number of different places and came across the reviews for sherbourne animal hospital. Everything I read was positive from the Doctor down to the people at the reception area. Well I just want to confirm that these reviews are quite accurate!
Doctor Oscar has a great demeanor and is quite gentle with both the animals and the people. He asks a lot of questions and wants to have as much information so that he can come to the right decision. He follows up personally on every patient which to a client full of anxiety is worth it’s weight in gold. He will only suggest the tests that he feels are needed and nothing more!
I am very happy I found this hospital and wanna give a shout out to Nicole and the rest of the staff for making you very much at ease when you walk through the door.

I’ve been taking my dog Molson here since he was a puppy and I love them! Everyone was so friendly and helpful I could even ask for more!
Molson was having some issues with his skin and after much help from Dr. Oscar himself, he refferred me to a great dermatologist who was able to help! He has always had the most patience with molson and I and Im so pleased to call him our vet! I worked at a pet store in the area and I always referred people to him when they were looking for a vet and even after moving north of the city I still refer my customers to him.
You guys are awesome!

I got a new kitten I think 4 months ago, she went to Sherbourne animal hospital around 2 times.
I can say Sherbourne animal hospital is the only place I trust for my dog before. and I always recommend this place to everyone around me, because I think here is the heaven for all kinds of pets, they are the best exam place and has the best/​nicest veterinarian.
But last time my BF toke our cat to here for the second shot or something, because I have class that day, so I didn’t go with him. He told me that day was not busy at all (everytime we went there, lots of people are at the line), veterinarian for that day was not Dr. Oscar, its someone else, a female veterinarian. (You will know why that day is so empty)
she is nice and love my kitten because my kitten is very cute, but she looks very not professional as a veterinarian. she checked the body everything is find, she tried to feed my kitten a deworm medicine, but my kitten didn’t like it, she tried so hard, finally she went out the room, ask front desk to feed it for her (She use 2min, front desk only take 5 second). But that is fine for me, my point is when she try to feed my kitten, the medicine was dropped on the ground, she didn’t change one, she just pick it up and try to put that medicine into my kitten’s mouth.
I wasn’t there, If I was there, I won’t let her feed it.
After that time, I know when I call-​in to book appointment, I need to ask for Dr. Oscar’s day, and every time I recommend to my friends, I need add a word, you need to ask for Dr. Oscar only!
I feel so sorry to write this, but I still love this place and love you Dr. Oscar, and always five star for you!!!

My boyfriend and I bought a toy poodle puppy and we met with Dr. Lucia. Our first contact with the receptionist was a pleasant one. She was very friendly and kind. Dr. Lucia was very nice too and gave us some brochures on puppies and we talked about vaccinations.
The place was clean and for a puppy examination was ~$ 50 which was cheaper than another place I researched. I will definitely be using this place as a permanent vet for my dog.

Being a first time dog-​owner, we worried a lot and had a lot of questions.
We decided to go with Sherbourne Animal Hospital given the existing Unilocal reviews and we are very happy our decision. Dr. Oscar spent a long time during our initial greet & meet explaining to us what to expect and things to watch out not just for our puppy’s physical well being but the entire package. He also followed up with a detailed email of what we discussed during the first session.
For regular shots, we felt that Dr. Oscar took the time to explain why our puppy may need the various shots and gave us his recommendation as to what certain shots might not be necessary.
We were extremely happy with the spaying of our puppy at the Hospital. Again, Dr. Oscar not only took the time to explain the procedure but also provided a detailed invoice and explanation of what the expenses would be. The procedure went splendidly and the doctors and staff provided timely updates on her recovery status after the surgery and next morning. They also followed up with phone calls after we brought her home. Our puppy recovered well and was once again full of energy within a couple of days after surgery. (The final bill matched the estimation) All the staff were very caring of our puppy and patient in answering our questions. We felt we left her in the best care.

Dr. Oscar is very friendly. I was trying to buy some hay for my bunny there but they don’t sell that in the store. When Oscar knew I needed it immediately, he gave me an opened bag of hay for free and told me it’s not for sale. I will definitely buy more stuff there.

This is a fantastic animal hospital, I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Oscar and his team. I brought my 11 year old Havanese, Alfie, in for a loose tooth and he ended up having to have dental surgery. Dr. Oscar went out of his way to explain the treatment and cost in detail ahead of time so there were no surprises and I knew what to expect. He sent me a detailed email after each visit as a follow up, as well as phone calls right before and after the surgery to let me know how Alfie was doing, and a phone call the next morning from one of his lovely staff to ask after Alfie’s recovery.
I felt that I was properly consulted for each aspect of his treatment, down to the blood tests, how many teeth were coming out, and the after care. Alfie was bouncing around the same night of the surgery, and was 100% the next day. Dr. Oscar did a fantastic job on something that could have easily had complications. He does not pressure you into unnecessary treatments, instead he will fully explain why he recommends certain treatments and what the options are, making me feel like I was able to make an informed decision. Dr. Oscar is knowledgeable and takes the time to answer any questions you may have. He even sent me a thank you card signed by him and his staff thanking me for visiting them! I have never been so impressed with any vet, ever. Dr. Oscar is now my new vet for Alfie and for my new puppy, coming soon! I definitely recommend Sherbourne Animal Hospital for anyone who has a pet. The level of care is second to none.

I came here a while back for a pretty severe ear infection and when I called I got squeezed in fairly quickly. The vet tech and the vet were both very good with my normally anxious dog and he was thrilled to be there. The vet took the time to show me how to flush his ears and apply the meds… During her demonstration I got a huge chunk of ear wax in my mouth lol. They followed up with a phone call to see how everything was and that the problem was resolved. Excellent level of care here, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

Dr oscar was very compassionate and caring, you can really sense that everything about this place it’s genuine.
Quote was upfront, and they won’t charge you anything before you approve. Prices were reasonable.
I am definitely only coming here from now on, And recommend to every pet owner.

We recently brought our rescued 1 year old beagle Churro to see Dr. Oscar for a check-​up. I e-​mailed the clinic on a Sunday night inquiring about availability during the week and I woke up to a response and booking the next day.
Dr. Oscar and his staff provide one the best services I’ve experienced. Dr. Oscar not only examined Churro, but as new dog owners, he explained to us many behavioral traits that we found helpful in training and raising our new pup. He communicated to us his examination of Churro and even e-​mailed us after hours some training advice on separation anxiety.
We are highly impressed with the services at Sherbourne Animal Hospital and look forward to our next visit!

This vet is a lifesaver! Our vet is pretty far from us and our poor dog developed an eye infection. After 5 days of treatment his infection came back and he would not let us put his eye drops in whatsoever. We tried everything! Our vet said they would do it for free but that would mean us having to cab there twice a day, which would be super costly and time consuming. We had become so stressed and so sad that we couldn’t help our little guy out that we decided to contact Sherbourne Animal Hospital up the street from us.
The lady who answered the phone was beyond nice. She said she had never had a request like this before and said she would talk to the vet. She called me back and said they would be glad to administer the eye drops twice a day for a incredibly low cost, even though they are not technically our vet. I went in for the first time today and I couldn’t be happier! They are super friendly and clearly know what they are doing. I feel like a ton of weight has been lifted off my shoulders. As much as we love our current vet, we would definitely consider switching to Sherbourne Animal Hospital because of location but also because they are amazing.

As a new owner of a mini poodle, I had visited a few vets in the area for various purposes (Cabbagetown Pet Clinic when few first got him, Toronto Central Animal Clinic to get him neutered, etc. I was disappointed with the prices at each, but particularly with the lack of communication: as a new dog owner, I knew almost nothing about my pup’s health.
Dr Oscar is the only vet who consistently communicates what he’s doing, including his different hypothesis about what the issue could be, and what he will do if Plan A doesn’t solve the problem. He talks about costs of different options upfront, unlike the first vets I visited who let their administrative staff handle the bill after the vet left the room.
I’ve temporarily relocated to the US for a year, and while we found a nice vet here, I’m finding the lack of communication so disappointing compared to Dr Oscar. I couldn’t recommend him and the Sherbourne Animal Hospital more glowingly.

5 stars all around. The service here is absolutely fantastic. They are very thorough and do a good job at explaining everything they are doing. Along with that they are very good at educating pet owners so they know exactly how to take care of their pets.
I am impressed with their communication outside of the clinic as well. From sending me an email on crate training techniques to wishing me a Happy Birthday, they do everything they can to make you feel like a part of the family.
I have had to call in for an emergency appointment and was able to get in same day at ease.
Great location too. Close to work and home for me.
Prices are very comparable, and somewhat cheaper than some of the other vets in the area.

Our new puppy had an emergency yesterday, she broke out in red spots for the first time… I almost broke into tears. Juggling my phone and my little girl, I immediately turned to Unilocal for help. Searching and searching but only to find that most animal hospitals and clinics are closed early on Saturdays, and it was a late, late Saturday afternoon. Desperately, I called to try my luck with the closest one in the area and I found Sherbourne Animal Hospital on the app. We were very lucky to have Oscar take us in while he was off duty at the animal hospital.
Oscar is a great guy! Very patient and personable. Has great bedside manner and takes the time to answer all of our questions and concerns with utmost care and professionalism. I would certainly recommend him. We will bring Nomnom to visit again when we are in the area next time :) Much appreciated!
