Silver Snail Comic

As a fan of action figures I find it’s pretty tough to tell if comic book shops that have a worth while selection — but Silver Snail does! That’s what I go for, I love how it’s organized — comic book characters together, television and movie characters together, large statues together and pop vinyls away on their own.
I’m not as big of a comic collector, but new issues is a noticeably pretty small section and a tight squeeze even on the less busy days — but again, very well organized, and back issues have a good amount of browsing space.
The old location sure felt like it had more selection (and, less stairs) — but as much as the «mainstream» sort of rep the snail has that gets a bit of an eyeroll from many in Toronto, it is an easy top choice for me. Definitely the best looking, and the gloss and fresh reorganizing of this place is pretty great.

This is a fantastic comic book and nerd paraphernalia store! They have such an extensive selection, and the café is a nice addition. Love stopping by this store any time I am in the area.

This place is awesome! It has nice, helpful staff and a nerdtastic atmosphere! It’s well organized and stocked with plenty of statues, memorabilia and toys for all you collectors out there (Hands off anything Cyclops related! It’s mine!)
The place has a lot of great trinkets. Inside you’ll find a nice little R2-​D2 unit, batman and superman statues and even a cool pinball machine! Love that!
Lastly, every once in a while, I’ll order a cappuccino when I’m browsing comics. These guys go the extra mile by naming all their specials after comic/​movie characters! I recommend the Stay Puft one myself. Mmmmarshmallow!
If you love comics and are interested in holding a collection, this place is downtown Toronto Nirvana. It has great coffee, great atmosphere reasonable prices and did I mention the pinball machine already?

I just started getting into comics on a bi-​weekly basis, so where better than to go to the legendary Silver Snail? The staff are cool enough, and I only wish I had the ability to chat more about comics with them.
Latest issues are easy to find, and they have a great collection of Trade Paperbacks volumes.
One of the the only reasons why I go downtown.

They are, by far, one of the best comic book stores I’ve been in. Great & friendly service that are always up to date on new & rare comics & manga, sporting amazing collectors items that are a must have for anyone who is searching for things of the like, and the atmosphere is not like any other comics stores that are just quiet and always behind the desk, plus there coffee is a must try.

Absolutely love this place. I always find something to buy from there. The service is great and always friendly. They are all knowledgeable and know what they are talking about. They also have a café that is quite cute and welcoming. Would definitely recommend.

I love the new location since they also have a coffee/​muffin counter. The slide out comic drawers in the center make it easier to find the comics you need but still get around easily.

Best Comic shop in Ontario, possibly even Canada. Knowledgeable staff, great stock levels, good sales. Always a staple at FanExpo every year, probably the main reason I keep going to it is to see the Silver Snail Booth. These guys have great figures and toys as well as collectibles. The Café is a nice spot to sit down and read, or draw or whatever without judging eyes. Overall, I love this place, it would be my second home if I could make it there more often.

I bought a comic which had ripped inner pages. I was told that it couldn’t be exchanged.
I don’t like the idea of encouraging people to flip through an issue of a comic and possibly spoil the story because the store doesn’t guarantee non-​damaged products.

Such a good store, its has a unique selective comics and awesome action figures from marvels, DC, Star Wars, and gundam.

New location isn’t great, I really miss the old store. My 2 main problems with the place now is the lack of stock, due to their much smaller size if you aren’t there on the day of release you’re probably not going to get what you want.
The second complaint is that the service is very hit or miss. I’ve encountered a lot of the staff ignoring customers in the store and at the cash while they’re texting.
Every now and then I get a helpful employee but that seems to happen when the boss is around.
The thing I miss the most is the toy selection which isn’t very good now.

Had a lot of fun, they have nice sales and a surprisingly large selection. Acquired some new comics as well as some gundam. The café is a nice addition as well. Staff was really friendly and easy to talk to, this is a must visit if you’re in or around Toronto.

This visit was a waste of time, here are the three big problems with this store:
1) Cashiers really unfriendly. Major staff attitude in this place.
2) All books are shrink-​wrapped. Impossible to view any pages.
3) Prices are full retail or higher.

My go to place for comics and geek stuff. Good selection of merchandise from dc to marvel and everything in between.

Silver snail has been around for a long time and are the best.
Clean store, coffee bar, Mecca for geeks.

I came here to get a comic book. Surprise surprise.
Nice store, good selection. Has a flight of stairs to walk up to get in, so wont wear my heels next time.
I found the book easily. I liked their store-​bag. It was cool.
But only when I was long gone, miles away from the store, did I discover that the comic book I bought had a bite-​like chunk ripped off the front cover. How did I not notice that??? And how did the person at the cash not TELL me?
I don’t need their stupid cover protector for the comic anymore. It has essentially NO value (not that it ever would) with that freakin BITE chunk off the cover.

I must admit I have been coming to the Silver Snail since I was in middle school back in the day. I used to frequent the old Queen location and to be honest it felt a little weird when they moved to Yonge Street. I do miss the size of the old location and the selection of toys and comics seemed to be a lot larger in comparison. The location however is much better and being so close to other shops makes the trip downtown worth it.
I always appreciated the friendly staff at the old location and this one is no different. The staff are very knowledgeable in their respective departments and usually have a good idea about what is new in stock and what will be coming in. I mainly collect action figures and the staff are quick to let me know all the new stock via phone, online or in person in the store.
The prices are a bit higher than the old location, but that is mainly due to inflation and the fact that the new location probably costs them a lot more in rent. I don’t mind paying a bit more as long as the items that I want are in stock. That may be one of the rare issues that this location may have. When a new and hot toy comes out, they are usually sold out within the few hours it was released. To be expected so just make sure to try and get that item put on hold.
Staff is very friendly and accommodating with issues about the products as well. An example would be I purchased a Transformers the Loyal Subjects blind box, in which the figure was completely broken at the hip when I opened it. The manager was quick to address the issue and offer me a replacement immediately. That’s the kind of service I would expect from a comic shop, where I spend hundreds of dollars a month!
I will be coming back whenever I am in the area, to one of my favourite comic shops around town!

The new location is GREAT! You wouldn’t want to take a large group of people there, but for a small trip with one or two people, it’s great.
I normally walk away with an item, deals are fantastic when available, lots of neat and interesting collectibles (perfect for vinyl collectors!) and now they even have café!
They normally have really cool figmas, but again you have to keep an eye out, and they are pretty reasonably priced.
I think they even have a Munny trade night where you can trade in the ones you don’t like.

I’ve never been in here to actually look for a comic book, only to purchase gifts for some fanboy and fangirl friends I have. They had alot of memorabilia that was on clearance which was perfect for what I was looking for. I had searched around a bit in similar shops in the neighborhood, and they only had items for the regular retail price.
It has a great location, just north of the busy Yonge/​Dundas Intersection. There is a small staircase next to the HMV which leads you upstairs to the shop. The store was crowded and a bit hard to navigate with such small hallways to walk through and people stopping to look on shelves. Most independent bookstores are similarly formatted cramming in as much as they can with limited space, but at least this store is very clean cut. The inside of the shop has a lot of cool items on display including a large map of middle earth. There is a little café area at the end of the store to hang out and read.
Would definitely come back to check out their new stock when i’m in the neighborhood again.

Alright folks, I AM NOT A COMIC BOOK READER. I love all the X-​MEN movies, Batman is my favourite hero, and I finished the two short seasons of Young Justice. What? Her name is Gwen (and not Mary Jane) in The Amazing Spider-​Man?

I’m so glad you have decided to read my review! I give this a 5 star because:
1) This shop is very clean, modern décor, and ORGANIZED. Yes, you will find what you are looking for without asking! Of course, you can also ask!
2) The staff DOES NOT look at me with a snobby thought, «Girl, you don’t belong here.» I absolutely cannot stand shop owners that look at their customers that way. (I CHOSE to come in, so they shouldn’t judge me by looks!) A+ because I felt very welcomed at Silver Snail Comic.
3) The staff left me alone as I was browsing but were happy to jump in when I needed help. They didn’t make small talks, yet they were very approachable.
4) OK. THE GOODS THEY SELL:
As expected, I wouldn’t buy the expensive action figures (oh my gosh, they were A++ quality though!) even though they are beautifully displayed on the shelves. The large Hulk figure looked amazing with so much attention to detail. I found lots of hardcover, elegantly-​crafted comic books.
Don’t laugh when I say this. I LOVE blind boxes! They have tons!!! At the time of my visit, their Toki Doki collection actually was better than Magic Pony 680 Queen St. W. They also have Hello Kitty with moustache mint tins.
Kidrobot and Paul Frank can also be found here. I bought the Ghostbusters ice cube tray for my boyfriend for $ 18.07 (PRICEY for 12 cubes! The cubes don’t turn out well FYI…)
I’m taking my boyfriend here next. We aren’t comic book readers but we do enjoy browsing for geeky items and toys.
Maybe even order a Captain Americano or Yoda Soda from their very own coffee shop!
