Historique

Fondé en 1998.

Sinfonia Toronto performs its Masterpiece Series of concerts in the acoustical splendor of the CBC’s Glenn Gould Studio and in Toronto Centre for the Arts. The orchestra travels to other Ontario centres for performances on regional concert series, and has toured Europe twice. In addition to its Masterpiece Series Sinfonia Toronto performs a number of community outreach concerts. It has recorded four CDs to date including a JUNO winner.

Sinfonia Toronto’s Music Director and Conductor Nurhan Arman has brought capacity crowds to their feet on three continents. He has appeared in France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Hungary, Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Turkey, Armenia, South Korea, Mexico and throughout the United States and Canada. Nurhan Arman is currently the Music Director of Canada’s Sinfonia Toronto.

Critics on both sides of the Atlantic have been unanimous in their praise. Pravda hailed Maestro Arman as a «fascinating and striking musical personality,» while the Broadcast Review in Prague reported «a spirited and nobly rounded performance.»
