Spring Nails and Spa

I honestly can’t speak more highly about this place. It wouldn’t do it justice. First of all, it’s clean. It’s not fancy like the ten spot or cozy nails on yonge but it certainly does not pretend to be. They are simply outstanding at what they do and don’t need to put bells and whistles on it. They have a loyal clientele (myself and my friend included) and I recommend this place to literally everyone who compliments my nails (which is at least once every day). All of the women who work there are great at what they do but for me personally, I see Diane or Gina. Those two are CRAZY good. Before going there my nails would break and were super delicate. Now from their shellac expertise, people constantly ask me if my nails are real or fake.

I almost don’t want to write this review because I don’t want other folks to know my secret, but I love this spot so much, and I wanted to add my 2 cents to some of the negative reviews below. My take? If you want a fancy or luxurious salon, a la the Ten Spot, this is not the place for you. The décor is bare bones and some of the salon chairs, while they work, have leather seats that are wearing thin. However, if you want shellac that lasts for a month, come here. The workers here do the best shellac I’ve had in Toronto. They also have more colors than any other salon I’ve been to– three of those display rings while many spots I’ve checked out just have one, with glitters, new colors all the time, etc, plus a ton of nail gems, designs (which they keep updating) etc. They have a great selection of regular polish as well, including OPI and Essie. I’ve always seen workers here who are fast and skilled. My gel manicure is always on point and lasts well into a month with no chipping. If you just want a shellac polish change, I think it’s just $ 10. For myself, I’ve never experienced the bad treatment, cuts, etc that other folks speak of.
Also, in terms of reviewers saying, «the women gossip in Vietnamese!» you talk to your coworkers at your job, so why shouldn’t they talk to each other at theirs? Everyone who works there is obviously an immigrant who English is a second language for, of course they’re going to talk to each other in their first language. (I’m pretty sure when they learn more English they’re going to get a job that doesn’t involve scraping people’s foot callouses off with a razor.) I actually feel a lot more comfortable when the workers at a salon I go to seem to be having a good time and talking to each other, and this is true here. My experience has been that if you’re polite and direct, you are treated well here. Tuesdays there’s a $ 30 manipedi, $ 15 shellac deal that’s great. Also, for what it’s worth, I don’t see people breaking instruments straight out of the autoclave each time, but I’ve also never gotten an infection.

I have had two really bad experiences at this place and I honestly don’t know why I bothered to try it again after the first time.
The first issue was when they did not properly apply my acrylic nails. They started falling off 5 days after I got them done. When I went back they told me that it must be the way my nails react to the product and not the way they applied them. I’ve had acrylics done many times before and this has never happened, they were literally falling off without even touching anything. The lady also had my friend and I sitting at the same table and switched back and forth between us when doing our nails which really makes me question how sanitary they are.
The second bad experience was with a pedicure. I went in today to get one done and when I came home I noticed that the bottoms of my feet were still peeling and there was a lot of dead skin left behind. When I went back and asked them to fix it the women claimed that I asked her not to use the razor on my feet (I did not say this nor was I asked about the razor) and that I would have to come back several times to have the skin removed. I have had many pedicures in my lifetime and I have never had to come back multiple times to have the same skin removed. I understand maintaining and coming back to keep it up but not to keep working on the same areas that you can easily fix in 10 minutes. It’s not like I have insanely untaken care of feet or anything that would require coming back for the same unkept issue. She barely tried to remove more and then another women started shouting at me that «it was my problem that I didn’t like my pedicure».
Awful customer service, god awful experience and what seems like a bunch of employees not doing their job and trying to get more money out of people.
Seriously save your money and time and go anywhere else.

I’ve been here countless times and its not like I’ve not tried other places for manicure and pedicure. But what is it that keeps me coming back?
— the Vietnamese girls does a good job.
— they’re efficient (having usually two working if you’re having a mani and pedi)
— short wait time (at least out of all the times I’ve been there)
— awesome and plenty of colours to choose from (nail polish, shellac, gel)
— comfy massage chairs while they do your mani and pedi.
— reasonable pricing
— convenient location (in between Christie or Bathurst station)
The only thing I would question is, if there is a lack of disinfecting on the tools… As I go there regularly I have a set allocated in my name.

Place is unassuming. Prices are good for what it is, but not sure if I will be returning. Manicure turned out okay but the ladies just ignore you while speaking to each other in Vietnamese. I am also concerned at the lack of disinfection tools I saw — maybe it was in the back somewhere but I only saw the ladies taking the tools out of a box with their names on it. While the manicure turned out relatively nicely, I’m not sure if I will be back or not.

I’ve been looking for a good nail salon in the Annex that is capable of good manicures, pedicures and bio gel nails. This isn’t the place. I won’t go back.
I went to Spring Nails to get a quick fill for a single broken bio gel and, maybe afterward, based on my experience, a pedicure.
I clearly explained what I needed, and was ordered to sit and wait. I waited for fifteen minutes. It was busy, so no big deal. Looking around, I began to become skeptical about the quality and cleanliness. After, I finally got to the table, five more minutes were spent explaining to the lady who is supposed to be able to do bio gels what I wanted. Then I was told that they didn’t do bio gels. Hmmm. But they have that service on their front window?!? I’m confused.
Waste of time. Not going back.

This was my second visit and although it is your average nail salon in Toronto, I expected more. They were pretty busy since they offer a $ 30 deal for a manicure and pedicure on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s. However, that should not decrease the level of service just because you want to get as many customers as you can. I called to book an appointment just to avoid having to wait if I had just walked in. Luckily I went early around 4pm, as she couldn’t book any more appointments around 6 due to all the walk-​ins. Although I didn’t mind the level of quality of the pedicure I got, the manicure was definitely rushed! The lady doing my nails did a below average paint job that is streaky; that is, if I know I could do a better job on them myself at home, you definitely suck. I’m glad I found the perfect nude colour I’ve been looking for but I definitely won’t be coming back especially to that lady (no idea what her name was)!

I had the worst experience at this nail salon.
Let me just say that previous to this bad experience, my mother also had a horrible one but I decided to try again.
I ended up getting the same woman that did a horrible manicure on my mother.
She is the worst.
She cut my cuticles for over 30mins. She just kept cutting and cutting until I had four fingers bleeding. WTF?
I have never had such a bad manicure in my life. My fingers hurt for a few days after from how much this woman cut off.
When I mentioned to her that I was bleeding on four different fingers she just got another woman to come over and start over. First off, it should never take over an hour for a shellac manicure. That is insane. So now after she cut off everything, another woman had to come try to clean up her mess. I dont know if these people just let her practice on clients because she clearly has no idea what she is doing and doesnt really seem to care. To top it off, the shellac was so bad it chipped a few days later.
So I was charged FULL PRICE for a manicure that made four fingers bleed, was sore for a few days after, chipped a few days later and looked horrible.
I called the owner to tell her about my experience and she didnt really seem to care. I will not be returning nor will any of my friends or family.

I went here because I had just moved to Toronto and needed a refill on my acrylic nails and this salon was pretty close to where I lived. I showed up at around 6:30pm and sat down for about 5 minutes until they were ready for me. It was a Monday and I didn’t have an appointment.
The lady who did my nails (I should’ve asked her name but forgot, she was the oldest one there, very kind and motherly — I definitely recommend her) did an amazing job! She spent over an hour on my nails and while that is longer than it usually takes me to get my nails done, it was well worth it. She made them super thin and the acrylic went all the way to my cuticle with no cracks or lifting. She shaped then exactly how I wanted and made them look super natural. She then expertly painted two coats of a beautiful OPI wine colour and finished with a top coat. All in all, the process left me with much more beautiful nails than I had when I walked in and it only cost me $ 20 with tax! At my old nail salon, the same thing would’ve cost me closer to $ 45, which is crazy!
Definitely will go back to this place. While the décor is not to die for, it is clean, the workers seem to be very polite, and the deals are undeniable. Will definitely be back in the near future for a pedicure, as they are very affordable there.
Would recommend 100% to someone who is looking for a good deal and doesn’t care much about the appearance.

I’ve become a regular client of Diane’s and Spring Nail Salon and Spa. I always come here for my eyelash extensions gel and/​or acrylic nails and pedicures. I’ve also referred friends and relatives who have become regulars themselves. Diane and her team are very friendly helpful and creative. The pedicure experience is one of the best if not the best. Her prices are very affordable and competitive. She also offers waxing services that if I could stand that kind of pain I’d continue to utilize :)

Like in daily life, you can easily notice when someone is enjoying what they do, when they are tired, or when they simply don’t care.
I had two completely different experiences at this place.
I went there on a Friday afternoon without making an appointment. They took me without problem, asked me to pick my colors, and sat me on one of those awesome massage couches.
The girl who made me pedicure was excellent. She gave me a deep and delicious massage, and left my feet smooth, perfectly trimmed and with impeccable color (she used a brush to errase the uneven edges).
However, the girl who made me the manicure looked exasperated. She made a quick– I don’t care, kind of work. She left lots of skin, and nail polish around my nails…
I should’ve asked for the name of the girl who made my pedicure, so I can go back, and book her.
I’m going back because I liked the place, the chairs and the colors. I’m just going to pay attention to their work, so I can reward or punish with the tips.

I went in today for a mani/​pedi, with high hopes based on some of the great reviews on here. I had a loose toenail from an accident earlier and warned the esthetician that it was still attached to the nail bed, and she waved me off (to be perfectly honest I don’t think she totally understood what I was saying). As she goes to file, etc, she RIPS across my loose nail and seemed surprised that I reacted. This happened again before it seemed to sink in for her. The whole time she looked like she was having the most miserable day of her life — maybe she was, and I sympathize if that’s the case, but even though I expected to hear the estheticians talking amongst each other, I at least hoped for bare minimum customer service. Politeness and attentiveness, to start with.
The girl doing my manicure was very sweet, but clipped my cuticles down so much I bled. She also didn’t file my nails down evenly.
On top of all that, even though the spa was barely half full, I felt like I was being rushed out. The water in the foot bath and the hand soak were both cool.
I don’t normally write reviews on here, but since I was SO excited based on some of the other reviews, I wanted to share my experience. I will not be going back. I’d rather pay an extra $ 5 and go down the block.

I had my nails done 4 days ago at a salon that was close to my house– huge mistake! She did the acrylic all wrong and my nails were a mess… the Polish was peeling off and the acrylic was coming off in chunks… I need a nail miracle!
I went to spring and the lady who did my nails could see they were a mess! She had a hard time getting them off as they weren’t done correctly… she said to take them off and give me a new set and I agreed! She did her best not to hurt me while taking them off and apologized any time I squirmed of made an «ouch» face which was nice and she would stop and put pressure on my nail to stop any discomfort.
She finally got those suckers off my nails and proceeded to give me an awesome and properly done set finished off with matte black polish. I was amazed at the price and how well done they were!
For the price I don’t think you can get a better set! While I was there I saw lots of shellac mani’s and pedi’s and they looked great as well!
The only thing I disliked about my visit was the fact I’m terrible at understanding accents and dislike when the nail techs speak to each other in their language and you feel like they are speaking about you… but I go to Anna’s nails near my house all the time for shellac and they do amazing work as well… seems like some of the best hidden gems had that happening– but as long as my nails look great I can’t really complain…
I would recommend this salon to friends and will certainly be back. Once you find a good nail tech you want to keep seeing them– they know what you like, what you need and always take good care of you when you’re a repeat especially!
Anyone is west toronto avoid Glam nails near lakeshore west… they have some good reviews which is why I went and certainly regret it…

I went here on Thursday for shellac because my usual place doesn’t do biogel and I needed a cracked nail repaired as part of my usual manicure (plus they had a colour I wanted that my usual salon doesn’t have). When doing my cuticles, the woman seriously cut a chunk out of one! And I’m not convinced the tools are properly sanitised. Then, the biogel wasn’t applied properly — only one coat and not sealed along the edge. 2 days later, the shellac and biogel on the repaired nail were lifting off! I’ve had biogel to repair cracked nails like this many times before so I know it works. Went back Saturday after work, got there around 7:15. They were closed even though on their window it says they’re open until 8.
Went back again on Sunday before work. Got there 5 minutes after the time they apparently open — they were packed. I told the man I need a repair and I need to leave in 20 minutes max for work. He wandered away… Came back 5 minutes later to ask if it was shellac or regular… Wandered away again… Didn’t bother to start the removal process… I pointed out I had to go to work and he basically said to bad the repair can’t be done in that time. Well it could’ve been if you’d started right away. To be honest I don’t care how busy you are because I shouldn’t have had to come back at all. Shellac normally lasts me 3 weeks without any chipping. Once they repair this I’m never going back.

GO HERE!!! I have been coming here since they’ve opened. It’s my go-​to place for pretty much everything they offer. Their pedis are great (excellent massage chairs — the good ones, not the crappy kind that you think are going to break any second — they’re solid with lots of options, cable tv to watch (YAY Food network w subtitles, so no screaming tv) while in the massage chair having a professional pedi. I also get my uv gel nails done there. I get nothing but compliments on my nails when I do! Everyone there is professional and kind. I always walk away happy. The prices are good, Diane is AMAZING — she won’t try to sell you something you don’t need — in fact, she’ll tell you to get the cheaper version (acrylic nails vs gel for example) when my nails were too short to make it worth it. She never steers me wrong. Everyone there who has waxed me is excellent as well (not like some ‘specialty’ wax places down the street who have made serious mistakes 3 times in a row prior to my discovering this place). Regardless of how busy they are, the staff always take their time with me and pay attention to every little detail. I like to call ahead to make an appointment when I know in advance, but if I drop in and they’re busy, they are always honest about wait times — if they tell me 15 minutes/​30 minutes when I drop in, that’s what it is. Also they always have tons of great magazines to read while I wait!

This place is now a tradition. Every year when I realize last minute that I’m in need of a pedicure because it’s a beautiful day & I want to wear some kind of open-​toe shoe, but can’t cuz I have yet to get a pedicure… this is the place I go!
Here is where I get my first pedicure of the year. But of course I get a manicure along with it because its only $ 35 for both (only $ 30 on Tuesday & Wednesday).
No matter how busy they are, I’ve never had to wait longer than 10 minutes. They have very strong massage chairs and I like it strong! ;) The staff is very polite. Massages with your mani-​pedi vary depending which esthetician you get (some are very good). And all the ladies are very detailed when cleaning your cuticles! $ 35 for all that?! YES PLEASE! One of the best bargains everrrrrrr!

The price is great. If you go on a Tuesday or Wednesday it’s just $ 30 for a mani/​pedi. Decent selection of polish colours including Essie. However I did notice that a lot of the colours were older, and my friend who was with me commented that her polish was a bit thick. I’m not sure how often they replace them.
I have gone here before and have never been super impressed, or super disapointed. The price is right, but I gave it three stars because my manicurist made me bleed more than once while trimming my cuticles. That’s just bad (and painful) form. We will see how long the manicure and pedicure last… if they hold on, I may update my review to another star.

I’m pretty picky about my manicures. I’ve come here a couple of times for a last minute manicure. Both times I was taken right away. I tell them my preferred nail shape and they give me that. Plus amazing cuticle work. Great colour application.
The girls are friendly enough. Quality of nail services is great. And totally affordable.
They also advertise $ 30 mani-​pedi on Tuesday and Wednesday. I’m definitely going to hit that up!

Went here for the second time last night– this time for a mani/​pedi. As compared to all the 30 dollar mani/​pedi combos in the area, I think this one is the best. The employees were very professional, wore uniforms (as opposed to leggings and hello kitty tshirts) and used good techniques without rushing. My (male) friend and I both had both the mani and pedi, and had a great time. The foot/​leg massage was particularly great, and because he didn’t get a polish, his pedurist rubbed his legs/​feet for an extended amount of time.
I felt really comfortable here, and noticed I wasn’t being cajoled into getting additional services (nail designs, acrylic, etc.)
Good colour selection, and pretty nice massage chairs. All in all, I will DEFINITELY be going back.
