Yup, rock bottom priced, what a friendly person there and I have found things that I like in particular there that I cant find in the swankiest or average health food store. I guess the best bet is to call ahead and be sure they are open and have what you want, because the savings could very well be well worth the call.

Sugar & Spice is the equivalent of a convenience store for health food. They have plenty of stock and you can wander around and find great prices on items horrendously marked up elsewhere. Good selection of soy milk and similar offerings. This kind of business is what makes Kensington market a special place.

The place is a little cramped and the selection isn’t TERRIFIC but most of what they do have – formulas, raw herbs, whole foods etc. are rock-bottom priced. There are a couple of exceptions – a bit of a high-low game is played here – but overall you’re getting the best value for your money hands down.

Great prices, great customer service would like to see more products in the dry food isles! but otherwise top notch what a friendly owner.

The price is great, selection is good, what else can you ask for? I like to call ahead to make sure they are open before I make my way down.

Yeah, but everything here is sometimes 2 to 3 dollars cheaper than any of those swankier health food stores. eg. Last time I checked, Nature Path Heritage O’s cereal econo-packs was $ 6.99 and their Bio-K is still way cheaper than anywhere else and I will ttc my cheap ass all the way to Kensington to get at it. I agree the whole place is a bit tired looking including the owners who probably haven’t gone on vacation in a decade but the prices can’t be beat.

Unlike the previous two reviewers, the smell doesn’t particularly bother me at Sugar and Spice. I do agree that they need to shape up though: Their competitive prices are good, which is what makes me go back, but it’s endlessly frustrating when I need to pick up conditioner or cat food and I arrive at the store only to find that they’re out of stock or randomly not open. It’s almost worth it to just go to a different store that I know will have a good selection, with what I want actually in stock, and will be open during normal business hours. I’ve gone out of my way to shop at Sugar and Spice and too many times found it barred up on a weekday afternoon when they’re normally supposed to be open, or discover that they haven’t restocked their shelves in months.
