Sweet Thrills is a family owned & operated business and a landmark for the past 18 years in the Roncy community, now with a new location in Dufferin Mall!

A truly kid-friendly store, offering everything from board games, to toys, novelty gifts, Pokemon and MTG, puzzles, unique collectibles, and of course candy, candy, candy… including confections, food items and snacks arriving bi-weekly from Britain and Ireland. We know board games, and our assortment is carefully selected and diverse with something for everyone… from toddler-fun, to family game-night, to adult-only fun, to offerings for tabletop enthusiasts of all ages.

A great place for Santa to shop for stocking stuffers and presents!

Historique

Fondé en 1998.

Sweet Thrills was established as a candy, toy, novelty items and fun collectibles store, offering balloon bouquets plus custom loot bags and baskets for birthday and special occasion celebrations of all descriptions. A wide array of British products have always taken a special place on the shelves and in our hearts. Within a few years a small selection of board games was added, and now includes titles to light up the eyes of even the most seasoned of tabletop gamers.

Specializing in hard to find retro, novelty, American and British candies, chocolates and snacks, along with our ever-popular balloon bouquets and loot bags, plus a carefully selected and diverse offering of board games, we’ve got fun all wrapped up!

I stood outside of Sweet Thrills on Saturday, August 15 and, to my disappointment, they were closed. As I was peeking through the window, a nice lady unlocked the store and let my buddy and I inside. She turned on all the lights and let us roam the store; needless to say I was in shock but extremely happy that she welcomed us in. It’s not very common for anybody to open up their store after hours, let alone provide the type of service we were about to receive.
I told the young lady that I wanted to put together a gift basket for my girlfriend. Without hesitation, she walked us around the store showing and explaining some of her confectionary goodies. After loading up on about $ 80 worth of candies from my childhood, the US and even some rare gems from the UK, she packaged everything up in a nice mini crate and cellophane. My buddy and I must have been in the store for half an hour and she was pleasant the entire time — the gift basket she made was beautiful.
My hat goes off to Sweet Thrills and to the young lady working that day (I wish I caught her name). This place is a must visit when ever you’re in Roncesvalles.

When I used to live in Roncesvalles, I would often walk by Sweet Thrills and assume it was a local candy store, based on the name and storefront displays, without checking it out to see what else they might offer.
As it turns out, Sweet Thrills also sells tons of board games, puzzles, and collectibles.
Once I set foot inside the store, I discovered an entire section devoted to strategy and party board games, offering a wide selection of well-known and lesser-known games (everything from Settlers of Catan to Pandemic to Dixit). My inner nerd was ecstatic at discovering such a store, right in my own backyard too!
Since I’ve moved away from Roncesvalles, I still make an effort to visit Sweet Thrills every once in a while and buy a new game. The owner of the store (Michael) is so friendly and helpful at explaining new games that I will go out of my way to purchase board games from him over other more convenient locations in the city that sell them. He is an avid board gamer and is passionate about great games, and will gladly take the time to explain a game if you are curious or interested in learning more.
Sweet Thrills will also order a game for you if they do not have it in stock, so if they don’t currently have a game on the shelves that you are looking for, don’t be afraid to ask them to order a copy!
In addition, Sweet Thrills does of course sell tons of candy, including rare European candy and Walkers Monster Munch chips from England that are hard to find in Canada.

Great games, outstanding service!
Michael, the owner, is willing to introduce you to the perfect game– just ask him. He walked us through each aspect of what we were looking for and made recommendations on what game would be fun for us. We go back all the time– thanks to Michael, we have a couple of new games to keep us and our friends busy each weekend.
If you want a great new game from a locally owned business, head over to Sweet Thrills. They even have games from local game designers.

Sweet & thrilling! Our 1^st choice for candy stores (per household experts, my 12 & 10 year olds). Totally community based, owners donate to every local school fund-raiser and raised their own kids right here too! They’ve got everything you’d need or want that’s sugary, even imported British treats and obscure things like lego candies, chocolates that look just like rocks, etc! There are alos toys & other novelties. Gift certificates make perfect
presents, and they will do loot bags for parties!

From the name it sounds like it’s just a candy shop (which I wouldn’t have interest in) but I noticed a wall of games through the window and went in. For such a small store they have a decent selection. In the front there is a wall of modern board games (like Settlers of Catan, Puerto Rico, Caylus, etc) and some card games. In the back they have old school games (scrabble, twister, taboo, scattergories, etc). In the way back there was a section of jigsaw puzzles. In the middle/opposite wall there is a lot of candy.
Since I love games, I’m glad to have found a game store in the neighborhood. The prices were also $ 5 – 10 cheaper than one I stopped in in downtown (harbourfront mall).

I’m a sucker for candy. Particularly jellybeans. Particularly Jelly Bellys. And there is a wall of them here. Among every other candy you could possibly imagine, and toys, and board games, and loot bags, and… oh, EVERYTHING?
This store is just great, but the one thing that won me over was the little England section in the corner. A decent selection of Cadbury chocolate straight from England (if you’ve ever had it, you know the crap we get over here just doesn’t compare). And it’s not even that expensive! I don’t know how the owner charges so little, but I’m not complaining. Not only that, but they had those Walker’s Crisps in all their crazy flavours (like Steak! And Curry! And Roast Chicken!). UK food imports means I will be coming back and getting fat.

If you have a child (even for a day) take them here, or don’t, depending on what kind of reaction you want or how much money you want to spend.
They have everything a kid could want, and while I was visiting I watched while this one little boy tried in AGONY to pick «only one thing» (his mom). How to choose from among the balloons, toys, candy, trading cards… and PEZ. Loads of PEZ?
It was funny actually, he tried to bargain («what about two small things?») which was smart… but ultimately he went for a PEZ. Both toy and candy together with that choice, smart little man.
