I wanted to try this new dry cleaner as an alternative to my regular one. I took in some items including a ball cap. She immediately dismissed me leaving my cap as it was something that could not be cleaned. I responded that ball caps can be cleaned but she claimed it would break. When challenged with the fact I always get my ball caps cleaned every season at the dry cleaners(her direct competitor in the area) and they don’t get broken she suggested I clean it with a toothbrush. When I explained to her I’m not looking for alternatives but for the same service I get at the other dry cleaners she responded that she doesn’t know of any dry cleaners in the area. When I suggested that having an awareness of the services her competitor has(especially that items are cleaned offsite), she agreed to take it and look into whether it can be cleaned or not. I then passed her my hoodie I wanted washed and she said I’d need it dry cleaned. I said I wanted it washed and how the label said wash – not dry clean. She said okay she would wash it. She printed the bill and it said, «Jacket, blazer, dry clean, $ 15.95.» I began to question her on her attempt to charge me $ 16.00 to wash a hoodie but realized it wasn’t worth the effort so I took all my items back and left.
