Came here with a friend today when randomly exploring Mirvish Village. The owner Darryl is super friendly and loves showing off his knickknacks. The place is a little cluttered but that’s what makes finding things so much more interesting. We spent a good hour in the shop looking at everything framed and hearing his life stories. There are really pretty glass pieces and the things on the walls are for sale too. Even the bathroom has framed posters! I didn’t get anything but I’m sure if you want to get simple framing done this is the place to go.

I’ve been using Green Iquana for 20 years or more. He frames all of my family photos. He’s honest, fun, sweet and gets the job done and I don’t know what I would do without him.

«What’s the difference between ignorance and ambivalence?» asked the owner of The Green Iguana, after he showed me around. I shrugged. «I don’t know and I don’t care,» he said. This joke fully encompasses the sort of jaded, nerdy whimsy that is The Green Iguana. The store sells beautiful glass works, including imported marbles, but most prominent of all are the hundreds of framed pictures ALLOVER the entire two story shop. Every photo is framed in the same style, a cool industrial wrought iron double hook at the top, and almost all the prints are taken from old books– vintage zoology textbooks, old art books– and framed and placed somewhere on the wall. Super cool… but NERDY cool. But, my favourite thing about this place are its framed vintage postage stamps(see my photos).
