Service is 100% the reason you come here. After reading suggestions online, I wanted to get my skates baked. I left with a much better understanding of the dynamics of skating and the physics behind different types of skates. I met with John and he was extremely knowledgeable about hockey skates and explained the fundamentals in a very approachable manner. Clearly passionate about helping beginners and volunteers at local games. They know their prices are a bit more than crappy tire(and they are, though they sell used skates too). Unlike crappy tire, people actually help you determine the CORRECT fit for a skate and will patiently guide you through the process one-on-one. All Crappy tire had was a small, random foam carpet on the floor and a literal free-for-all of open boxes. Will recommend to friends, and probably buy a new pair of skates here next year.

The owner is knowledgeable and honest — he told me my kid’s current gloves were fine. I appreciated it and continue to return. Skate sharpening seems fine. The old lady who manages the till is the least customer oriented person ever so its always an entertaining way to leave the shop.

I went in with an odd request to get my roller(derby) skates heat moulded. The gentlemen techs were super kind and patient with me and in to the whole process. They were swamped but still took the time to check in with me and help me with a few minor adjustments. I know this is totally not their domain but they were totally wonderful. All of the staff including those not working to help me get my skates to fit properly checked on me constantly because it’s a lengthy process to dismount trucks, toe stops and re-lace boots for optimal fit. I highly recommend them for all your(roller) skating needs. Special shout out to Brian for being a total rock star! I’ve also been getting my skates sharpened there annually for a few years. This exceptional experience was what prompted the post.

Been getting my goalie skates sharpened here for the past 5 years. 9 out of 10 times they are perfect tho i’ve had a few very poor cuts. The service is usually very good and very friendly with the exemption of the crabby lady who usually runs the cash register. It’s a small, old school, family owned business which i prefer to the big box«pro hockey life» or «sport check» retailers. I’ll keep taking my skates to THR despite the crabby cashier, hah!
