Typical of new wave a small art galleries dotting the streets and alleyways in Kensington, Videofag is not obvious at first, but you will get the idea after walking up the little stairway and peering in the window for a better look. These eclectic places are the perfect venue for artists to showcase their work and possibly couch surf in the back room since the real estate in Kensington is so expensive. Every time I need to do a little shopping in the market, I always look and see what is on display. The evenings are a cool time with perhaps bubble TVs stacked up in the front window displaying some kind of performance art, and sometimes there looks to be a gathering of people maybe to watch a video since there is a projector set up which can show movies on the wall in the back of the room. What you might expect so see here could be Assemblage: ‘Assemblage is an artistic process. In the visual arts, it consists of making three-dimensional or two-dimensional artistic compositions by putting together found objects.‘ For example they had a wood pallet painted white with a huge price tag on it. Beside that a big pile of 20 dollar bills, stuff like that, pretty cool to look at and worth the trip up the stairs to see. Well worth the few steps to see what is on the minds of some very interesting people, Videofag is a seriously welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
