George and Rob have been solving my problems for years. Built several bikes with knowledge from the guys there.

I don’t write many reviews but I feel I have to do one for Ace Cycles. They have been looking after my bike for a few years now, and I have to say they are the best I have ever come across. So helpful, diligent and caring. Thank you guys for all the time you have put into my wheels and for ensuring that I get the best out of them.

The guys seem nice, but my experience was not…
My shifter cable was broke, and I took the bike in to have that fixed on a Friday. They also convinced me to have a tune up… fair enough. A price was quoted.
I get a call Tuesday (when they started to work on my bike~ it had been there since Friday, and I use it for work)~ The tire rim had a crack and they suggested I buy a new one– extra $ 70. I said no thanks.
They said they could not do the tune up then, and would not charge me for that. Again, fine. We agreed to only the shifter cable to be fixed. No mention of brake pads at any point.
I go to pick up my bike and was charged/​had to pay an extra $ 10 for brake pads I did not agree to have changed. Felt put off they did extra work that I did not agree to and I had to pay for it.
I’m not going back~ probably go to Ride On next time. They have spare used parts and call to have extra work ok’d.

Bought a helmet. It broke. They ordered a new one and replaced it sans receipt. Happy staff knowledgeable.

Found this neighbourhood cycle shop quite by accident and was pleased to find it was closer to my home than the bike shop I had previously frequented. Needed a tune-​up and flat tire repairs on a sunny Saturday and it looked like I would have to wait a week for an appointment — except that I got a call back almost immediately and told they could do the work if I came by right away. I flew over and the needed work was done within a very short time.
Needless to say, I am thrilled with the speed of service, the friendly guys who work there and the quality of the work. My bike runs like new and the price was great (everything is currently on sale for 15% off, though the regular prices are definitely reasonable). I will go nowhere else now for bike repairs and, down the road, when I look to buy a new bike, I will be purchasing from the great people at Ace Cycles. Thanks, guys!

Ace is the place for bikes and repairs on the west side, and worth the drive from the rest of van.
I have been going here for years and years, not only is it a great bike shop its a bit of Vancouver history.

Very friendly staff and reasonable price! The team of staff who work there are hilarious and transformed my bad day into a joyful 10 minutes while I waited for my flat to be fixed. I would definitely go back there, even though there are other bike stores closer to my house. Thank you Ace Cycles!

I must have the absolute worst luck when it comes to brakes. A little over 2 months after I purchased my bike, my brakes went Kaput. Thanks to the warranty, Ace was able to give me snazzy new and upgraded ones. But then, disaster strikes again. At the beginning of this season, my shiny new brakes seize up and again I was left to toss my beloved haphazardly into my trunk for the journey.
Now I can truly say Im in love with these guys. They were busy-​ish but really went out of their way. Within half an hour, not only did they fix up the brakes with a good oiling but on top of that, they did a nice thorough cleaning of my tires, filled up the air, and did a mini check over to make sure everything was all ready for the sun. When asked if I should pay for a tune up, they asked a few questions and actually deterred me from having one. Money in the bank! Oh and I should add, I mentioned that I could be interested in something a little faster in the future and given my height was wondering if they had any stock. He gave the best response and in the most nonchalant manner of «let me know when you want to test one out and I’ll make you one the night before». Who just goes and makes a bike? I feel so diminished as a person. Amazeballs.

These guys are the balls! I was shopping around for a simple tune up and got quoted rates like $ 70 which is kind of ridiculous. I stumbled upon Ace and was pleasantly surprised to see that they did same for $ 29 I think? Sold. They are genuinely nice people who you can tell aren’t in it to take money off you and are great fun. My total came to $ 43 and they had put brand new brake pads in and I actually feel like I’m riding a new set of wheels. As an added bonus I got a free bike seat cover… oh yeah… and when I was picking up my bike they gave me a lollipop as a going home present! Well played guys, well played.

These guys are awesome. Super nice, really quick to talk to you when you get in the shop… really patient with trying out the bikes. And they have the free tune-​ups for one year. I actually brought mine in a month or so after the year was up, and they comped the tune up for me, saying «Well, you’d do the same for us, right?».

My friend was after a Nutcase helmet like mine, we saw a load in the window here, popped in, and emerged with a amazingly coloured new helmet! There were many designs to choose from (they had in fact just received a whole new shipment), and helped my friend to fit it perfectly to her head size.
They had a good range of bikes available as well as accessories, but as I said, we were here on helmet business. Thumbs up :)

This mom and pop bike shop is full of honest and hard working people. They will do what they can to help you and do it with a smile. This is definitely my bike fix it

Ace Cycles has always stood for top notch friendly customer service… Bought my beloved GT Zaskar there — they had to special order it in for me and I was like a kid waiting for Christmas to arrive! Best wishes to George and the gang!

I wandered into Ace Cycles looking for a birthday present for my brother-​in-​law, was greeted by friendly staff, and shown a handful of options that perfectly matched what I was looking for.
At the same time, I heard back from a connection on Craigslist, and decided to go with the used bike. I brought it in to Ace Cycles for their $ 40 basic tune-​up (
). The mechanic called me to say that one pedal-​arm was broken — to see if I’d like it fixed or not.
There are heaps of BIke shops in Kits, but I found the friendly staff, helpful service, and value of going here to be top notch. From what I read, it’s been a fixture in the community for ages, and when I’m ready to upgrade my bike I would gladly go there first thing.

This is a story of Goldilocks (Or Brunette-​locks) and the Three Bikes.
Some background — I had been motoring around Vancouver on a 1994 Kona mountain bike — not one that was built for me – for the past 3 years. Uncomfortable handles, terrible gear shifter, painful seat, fugly as sin!
So after a long bike ride a couple of weeks ago, I decided it was time to find myself a new set of wheels, ones that didn’t make me wince while riding up hill or downhill or anywhere in between.
So off into the bike wilderness I went equipped with a visa card, a bike helmet and the smallest idea of what I actually wanted: great for city, small hills, and packed trails of the non mountain variety.
At bike shop number one bikes a plenty abounded — of the ugliest and most expensive variety. Still, I tried out a couple. Perhaps this was what the world had to offer in terms of bikes under $ 1000. Tan brown and orange… white…black. And a sales person urging me I needed the $ 800 version with internal gears. Who decided that tan seats (in cars and bikes) were appropriate?
Discouraged by the price and look, I ventured into bike store number two and was greeted by a nicer, larger, slightly more reasonably priced selection of wheels. $ 600, no internal, and no fenders, carrier (what’s this called?) or kickstand. That all would cost an additional $ 100 or so. Oh, the hybrids they carried at this price point didn’t have adjustable handles bars. You just hoped it would fit you. Not bad, but hey, we’re closing in 10 minutes, so you’ll have to come back if you want to give anything a test run. I guess I’ll be back later?
Bike store number three, an Ace in the hole! I should’ve known better! I’d already bought my helmet from them a couple of years ago and had loved their down to earth service then! I saw my bike as soon as I walked in! I liked her! Pretty colours, reasonably priced $ 450 and what’s that you say? I get a $ 50 credit towards a carrier and fenders? Just for shopping here? And 10% off of other accessories like locks? And all the tuneups I want and need? I guess Ace Cycle fits me just right…
As for my new ride, I rode her home the long way – past Granville Island, past Science World, through Yaletown and back to the West End… and no wincing here!
And Brunette-​locks and Gwennie Junior lived happily ever after :-)
