Basil Pasta Bar

Craving some hearty Italian dinner but too lazy to go out and nothing suitable at home, we gave this place a shot for delivery. 25 minutes later the doorbell rang — wow, super fast, especially with a custom dish ordered!
Everything was well packaged, no leakage, and the portions were sizable. First we dug into the salads: the Caesar Salad was fresh, but disappointing. Either they make it very dry, or they forgot the dressing on it, just romaine and cheese, inedible without a dressing. The House Special Greens salad was fabulous and perfect. The garlic bread was very grainy, sort of a sprouted grains kinda bread.
Pastas! We both got spaghettis and YUM! The sauce had a hint of spice in it that one of us found really spicy, in a great way! Meatballs were juicy but not oily at all. I was in heaven with the spicy, creamy, noodley mix! Very fresh and delicious!
We’re definitely ordering from this place again, can’t wait to try out all the different pastas. Would have given 5 stars for the delivery time and amazing main dishes, but the caesar and garlic bread weren’t our thing. But seriously — this is how pasta should be done! :)

I went here a few times in the summer, it was excellent. You can get a seriously loaded plate of pasta, and they have beer on tap. For two of us with pastas, a beer each, and tip it was around 30 bucks, and delicious.

I recently move to Kitsilano and was wery pleased to know that this location is there. just like in the Davie location, only much more beautiful!
the prices are the same! and you just can’t beat that! i will definitely come more often!

Pasta doesn’t have to be fancy and you don’t have to pay premium for it. They have pasta for 7.95 big portions. You can make it a. Combo and a combo includes a soft drink, garlic bread or soup. The garlic bread is interesting and is not what I am used to. It’s like wheat garlic bread. The pasta portion is huge. Technically I could share it with someone.
When you come in, you got to find a seat first and then walk up to the counter to order. Love the friendly staff. As well u can put together your own pasta.
Definitely coming back.

Kits location again — went back on a Monday for early supper this time with friends…
Noticed heavily salted dish for some reason — friends and I ordered the same sauce, but mine came out heavily salted?! Could it be the smoked bacon? That was the only difference with my dish. Mmhhh not sure. Interestingly I noticed both instances I ordered the same sauce (pesto cream) and this time no garlic — but I was literally burping for hours after my meal — trans fats? too much oil? Burped last time for hours too! Maybe too heavy? Unfortunately for me I do love the sauce and it’s the kind of dish you just want to call comfort food and bury your face in! Not sure. Still very tasty and big portions. The toppings however seemed much less than the noodles.

Great service, delicious food and convenient location! I want to came back and try other dishes.

Ordered the penne arrabiata. Texture was a little on the soft side, would’ve preferred pasta to be a little chewier. For the price however, this is acceptable.

I was today at Basil Pasta Bar with couple of friends who heard about this place in Kitsilano. All I can say about this place is well done. They have such a good pastas selection to choose from. If you are a pasta lover, this place is definitely recommended by me. I tried the penne arrabbiata pasta which is a spicy and delicious tomato sauce, red peppers and chorizo with goat cheese on top. This dish was amazing and I’m sure this will not be the last time I try it :)
The prices in this place were ridiculously low for the amount and quality of pasta you getting which made us very happy.

Amazing pasta for the price. One of my go to take our joints for cheap and easy food.

Always ordered online. Absolutely love the value in these dishes. Lots of food, great price. Delivery is a bit slow but worth it.
I order through Lazymeal and I always choose the build-​your-​own-​dish and select everything.

If there were half-​stars, I’d really give this place 4.5. It’s pretty spectacular, if you like pasta (what kind of dark, lost, soul doesn’t?). 7/8.95 for every thing they have. You can build your own! Vegetarian/​gluten free options! SO FAST. My date got cheese on his garlic toast –for a dollar– and it came with as much cheese as I would use at 2am after too much Kracken and marijuana. The sauces were super tasty– i got «fusilly» primavera –with bowties, instead (yeah, you can just do that there). Veggies were fresh and perfectly cooked. Topped with flaky parm. Oh– i also had the best damn house greens ever. Friendly, too– even though we strolled in at 10:15 (they close at 11).
–0.5 star for styrofoam take out. Enviro-​responsibility is a big deal. Ill give em 5 stars is they ever switch to reusable, paper, or compostable take out containers. :)

Excellent value and volume for the money. For an $ 8 meal you get good quality and well prepared and tasty. The best is to get it take out and head down to kits beach for a lunch. One meal is enough to share … hard to beat.

Amazing Pasta with an even better price.
I just found this place through using Unilocal and it became my favorite restaurant first visit. The create your own pasta dish is a fun way to order. It confused me at first I didn’t realize I could add as many meats and veggies as I wanted for this low price and receive quality ingredients at that.
I really enjoyed the Linguine with chicken, chorizo sausage, bacon, asparagus, red onions, garlic, with a generous amount of goat cheese topped with basil. I liked the garlic bread with cheese also as a side.
After the great dinner I was craving the pasta so much the next day I ordered delivery and noticed a wide delivery area.

For budget dining, Basil Pasta ranks high on my list. I finally had a chance to try this spot after some games of volleyball at Kits Beach. Conveniently located, it also has a patio to enjoy the warm summer nights.
Their menu has some preset options, or you can choose your own pasta, sauce, veggies and a protein. Order at the counter, pay, and the food will be brought to your table. Staff is really friendly here. I made my own creation of pesto cream gnocchi with red peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, asparagus and shrimp. With a beer, this came out to be under $ 10. Yes!
We grabbed a table on the patio and the food arrived within 10 minutes. It was an impressive portion, perfect to satisfy our hunger. The gnocchi was perfectly cooked, and I really liked the pesto cream sauce. There was a good amount of the veggies and shrimp. I tried some of my friend’s carbornara dish and it was creamy and tasty.
This is now my go to place when I get those pasta cravings!

Team Tastic came here for an early dinner and I had a great taste of the following:
Spaghetti Carbonara with added Chicken, Pesto Cream, and Artichoke ($ 7.95)
Penne Arriabata with spicy tomato sauce, chorizo sausage, red peppers, garlic, parsley, and goat cheese ($ 7.95)
Tiramisu ($ 4.50)
Bellini ($ 4.95)
Almost all of their pastas are $ 7.95 and the portions here are nuts for the price. You even get to customize your pasta just like you want, and there are pre-​decided options if you need help. The Spaghetti Carbonara with Pesto Cream sauce was a dream. The ingredients here were pretty good; the chicken came cubed and wasn’t too dry and the artichoke absorbed lots of sauce. The pesto cream sauce tasted fresh and bacon is never a bad topping to have in my books.
The Penne Arriabata was just as amazing and great if you just want a standard plate of pasta. The chorizo sausages had a little bit of spice to them and the penne was very al dente. The goat cheese was the star of this dish, adding a creamy dip for the penne. I’m still trying to get over how these pasta dishes only cost $ 7.95 because they were so filling. Among the «quantity» focused pasta restaurants, imagine taking Anton’s portions, cutting them in half, and adding the fresh sauces here, and you have a delicious, value meal.
The Tiramisu was another good item. The ladyfingers were soaked but not dripping with liquid. There was a good amount of espresso on top and the end result was a smooth, creamy dessert well worth the money.
The Bellini was a simple creation; a slushie mixed in with some alcohol. It wasn’t the prettiest Bellini I’d ever seen nor was it really made with sparkling wine but it was a good value considering most restaurants would charge you much more than $ 5 for a hit of alcohol.

I really enjoyed my trip to Basil! This is a no nonsense spot to grab a humungous plate of tasty pasta, and a super reasonably priced drink.
My two friends and I stopped in for girls night because $ 4.50 wine is basically unbeatable anywhere, let alone in Kits! We were excited to try the pasta, having heard great things about it. For $ 8 you can load up on EXACTLY the pasta dish you want. Two of us split one plate and we were stuffed afterwards! We got gnocchi with meat sauce and ALL the veggies (almost) — I also asked if it was possible to get extra veggies and the lovely woman serving us said «how about double?» YES PLEASE!
We hopped out onto the patio with our glasses of wine and soaked up the last of the sun as we chatted. Food comes out insanely fast here, and always with a smile. We gorged ourselves on pasta, which had just the right amount of veggies for my liking, along with a flavourful sauce and perfectly cooked gnocchi. We also ordered a small salad which was heavenly — I don’t know what dressing they use but I want a bucket of it to put my face in!
There’s a great feeling here that’s split between the crowd who run in to grab their meal and go, and the folks who linger and savour. Somehow the balance of the two opposing sides really works.
This is definitely somewhere that will be a staple for me when I’m in Kits!

Top notch fresh pasta like Italian restaurant for the price of a subway sandwich.
I like the fact that I can build my own combination too because this make this restaurant great for vegetarians in Vancouver like my self.
So I took the fussily primavera with extra olives, no extra charge for as many toppings as you want as well
They have great beer too and you can drink it on the patio while watching the famous spider trick guys from the building across the street playing their trick with a fake plastic spider jumping in front on random group of people walking up the street (must watch by the way, hilarious !!!).
I sweetened up my evening with an excellent tiramisu.
My new favourite place in Vancouver !!

When I saw a few months back that Basil is opening another location in kits, I was really excited! I used to be a regular at the Davie location for a long time when I lived in downtown, but I’ve moved to kits recently so downtown was a little far for a quick bite.
The new locations is 2 blocks from me and it is AMAZING! The ambiance is so nice and different. They have a huge patio at this place and its almost always packed with people since I noticed they opened.
They kept the «open kitchen» concept like in Davie but made it so much nicer! I am hooked on basil pasta again! :) can’t be more happy! They offer the same exact menu and prices as the other location too! Amazing!
I will be a regular again! I know it!

The staff at this wonderful restaurant are some of the nicest people I have met in Vancouver. I am an addict and can’t get enough of the different delicious combinations of pastas, sauces, meats and veggies. Given the location and the look of the restaurant (perfect place for a casual evening date) you’d think it would cost a lot more. The prices are fantastic! I have yet to find another restaurant that can compete for the price to quality ratio. For people who are less into the pastas, don’t worry, they’ve got you covered with salads!

This is the greatest pasta bar ever! The portions are insane and the quality is unbeatable.
