I love this place. Had a great burger here once but I’ve mostly just had drinks here a few times. I found the service to be awesome. The server/bartenders Olivia and Brodi were super fun and funny and showed my friends and me a great time. The music here is dope(groovy?). Lots of hip hop & trap. I highly recommend the Bismark for a drink on your way to a game or just because drinks. Good times. PS — Ask for Burt Reynolds shots. They’re yummy and they get you effing throttled. ;-)

Solid 3.5 stars for food but 4 stars for a rocking atmosphere on game nite. An endless stream of ppl here. Wall seating, tables or bar stools too. Probably the best secluded one as the other one on corner by former hotel just a bit too pub-ish, this one is nicer. Their southern chicken isn’t as deleesh as Chewies but neither are the prices. Easy repeat. Safe too despite the location. Lots of TVs around. Cool washrooms, communal sinks. ATM there too(by washrooms)

Bought a groupon for dinner for 4 and made reservations a week beforehand. Called the night of and told it was a $ 5 charge due to the UFC fight, no reservations were allowed, and no groupons were allowed. Most likely going to just try to get a cash refund back from groupon since the service is already terrible before I even walked in. Don’t know how it’s like once you’re there, but definitely do not recommend buying any group deals for this restaurant.

Okay if you’re in the neighbourhood and looking for a place to drink privately with a couple people. Noisy at times. I’ve only had the $ 19 Cobb Salad with Salmon and a side of Fries and it was okay and surprisingly filling. The rest of the choices on the menu weren’t very exciting. I spotted a Groupon deal for this place a couple days after which is a better value but I didn’t buy as I can’t see myself making plans to go back there. Waitress was typical Vancouver — unfriendly, not around when you need her and the young bartender wearing a black ball cap at the bar was busy getting his female friend drunk at the bar than paying attention to customers. The highlight of the night was meeting a cute girl in the unisex washroom when we were washing hands and using the mirror.

If you come here make sure you’re served by a waiter and NOT a waitress. The waitresses here are absolutely clueless, both were given large zones of the restaurant when neither was attentive enough to grab our tables some water or even give us menus! We took our seats and weren’t served for awhile since standing behind the bar and talking to co-workers is obviously a lot funner than serving your guests. We finally decided enough was enough and moved to the bar, totally different experience. The bartender(brad or brody) was charismatic and from the get go so welcoming, we ordered our food/drinks here and had a blast while enjoying the game. The poutine was great and the wings were even better. If it wasn’t for him we probably would’ve never came back to this place but we’ll give it another shot with a waiter.

We didn’t enter. Apparently the groupon deal cannot be used on game nights, and such rule was never mentioned on the groupon page. Funny thing is, they’re not event THAT busy during this game night. Probably won’t try it again either.

We came for the fried chicken and waffles and they were pretty good. We didn’t get the hind quarter of the bird as advertised and were giving two breast pieces each but we didn’t mind. Certainly filled our craving The owner is super nice and attentive but the other waitresses were disappointing. I had to ask three times to receive water and it took a little while to get seated. I’d come again when craving fried chicken but won’t expect a superb dining experience.

6 of us went here before a concert for some food and drinks. The drinks and service were solid. Nice original cocktail list. The food was underwhelming. I’m sure there’s better pub food close by. The fries are frozen nothing special. The chicken strips were small and greasy. The pulled pork was mediocre.

I saw this reviewed on the July 15th front page of Unilocal and book marked it after seeing a photo of chicken and waffles. Sadly I didn’t get the chicken and waffles but I went for something a little more waist friendly this time around such as the chef salad with the salad dressing on the side side. Service was really fast. Guy at the bar was super friendly. They do have wifi but it’s finicky with the log in, therefore, get some help from the staff. Gets busy on show nights. When I was there they played rap music. Atmosphere resembles a sports bar. Small inside.

Came by to try the burgers. Parking is available in the Tinseltown lot, as well as some of the side streets. The place actually isn’t too big, as a big chunk of it is taken up by a large curved wall. Not sure what’s on the other side, though I assume it’s part of the mall. Food is a little bit on the pricey side compared to places like White Spot, but not unreasonable. The burgers were actually quite decent quality, though the fries were soggy and lukewarm. Not sure what happened here. Salad is decent. Nice and light on the dressing. Staff were friendly, but not attentive. We had problems flagging down the waitress several times, and the place was maybe 70% full. Took us 10 minutes to get ice water. Place is understaffed. This may explain the cold fries.

Incredible vibe, great music, best chicken and waffles in Vancouver hands down! The owner and employees welcome everyone with genuine southern hospitality. If I could take this bar back home with me I would. If you love 90’s, slow jams, R&B, this is the place. If you are craving some delicious, fresh comfort food with a southern twist, this is the place. You can’t go wrong with anything you order but you should definitely try the chicken and waffles. Tasteful. Pleased.

Came here for a Groupon and had a fantastic meal. The chicken and waffles are moist and delicious and the burger is very tasty! Great food and a great value.

Great place. I live next door, so it’s very convenient! Friday night and it’s fairly quiet. No live sports anywhere in the world so it’s understandable the city is a little quiet. Had the chicken fingers with the house salad which was very good! I had about 5 beer(1516) nice and cold. Both the bartender and waitress was very pleasant and attentive! I give it 4 stars!

This review is based solely on the purchase of one drink. So obviously I know exactly what I am talking about. I popped in just before meeting pals for a movie around 530, the location makes it perfect for a before or after movie treat. They have Guinness on tap and a cute little patio to watch the weirdos wander past… what else is required? I hear they have food too, if you were into that.

We went on a Groupon deal, $ 25 for $ 44 worth of food(2 entrees & one side) Service was meh Club style bass music was way too loud & not in keeping with the interior, which is actually pretty nice. I ordered the 8oz steak, which according to the menu comes with garlic mash. It arrived with fries, and when I questioned the server he came up with some lame excuse about running out of the wrong type of potatoes. Shouldn’t he have told me they couldn’t fulfil my order before delivering it to my table? Then when I presented my Groupon, he told me «oh the steak, isn’t part of the deal». Nowhere did it say this. Will we return… nope

Unless you are a friend of one of the owners, or a member of staff, I strongly advise against going here. Whilst I never thought this place was the best bar in the city, I had hopes for it under new management. I however was wrong. Worst customer service I have ever experienced in the whole of North America. Thank goodness the much better Abbey is nearby.

Went to Bismarck before the Whitecaps match. It was sunny outside and there is a patio but we did not get a spot. Hubby and I were the only ones«inside». Service was great. We ordered a beer and veggie nachos. When the nachos arrived there wasn’t a lot of cheese on them. Strangely enough though, the nachos were excellent. Tasted fresh and loved the tortillas and bananas peppers. We were in a rush to get to the game on time and our server gladly accommodated us. Good spot to go before an event at BC Place or Rogers Arena because of location.

This restaurant/bar is very appealing and once you take a step inside, you definitely feel like your somewhere different. The owners make efforts to share with customers, in the menu, an explanation of the Bismarck’s southern-vision which I think is a personable touch. I want to give this restaurant a 4 star rating, but my bias is that I love non-radio Hip-Hop and R&B music that this SJS inspired restaurant delivers on a consistent basis. $ 5 Hi balls/beer on a friday night is real nice… but they are wells not top shelf and the bartender(s) here on my particular visit was gave a lackluster effort into the drinks and our table definitely noticed. More importantly the Food here is not what customers are coming here for, rather the atmosphere. There are too many restaurants trying to dazzle customers with Chicken n Waffles in this city, I think it takes an especially distinct taste and effort to distance one self from all the Town halls and other restaurants trying to offer this specific meal and unfortunately I had an underwhelming experience in that area. This bar has so much potential, if there were more interesting menu options then I think more people would be forming lineups to get into here but last friday night was very quiet here and nobody around us seemed to be eating.

Came here for dinner. The place is not super busy. As well the menu doesn’t have Alot of options. They ran out the rib eye steak, okra, salmon and the only desert they have is ice cream. Chicken wings was pretty good its very crunchy. The burger was good and the portion was decent size. I have noticed people only came for drinks but not food. The décor was nice and very artistic. However, the chairs are not very comfortable and there are no low tables. The chairs/tables are not good for people with disability or have back problems As well the washroom was interesting its a unisex washroom.
