My rating lies somewhere around 3 stars, but only based on averages. We’ve come here for after floor hockey drinks a few times. I’ve never been a fan. However, when the time came last week to find a space to accommodate 12+ people nearby, this place ended up being a good option. Why? Because it is always empty. Every other place we wanted to go to would have been too packed to fit such a large crowd. Good thing, because our group expanded to about 17 people by the end of the night. So, here’s the breakdown… Service — was actually good. Poor girl was run off her feet by us, but she was nice and as quick as she could be. So a 4 for service. Food — tried a pizza once, but nothing on the latest trip. Bites of other food, plus previous experience = bleh, 2 Price — Cheap. $ 4.25 for a pint of anything but Guinness. Done! 5 stars for reasonably priced pints. Atmosphere — So lonely. Upstairs was apparently not available due to the cooks having spread their crap up there, so we had to space out among a bunch of tables. Fine, whatever. The corner table near the door has crappy seats. Don’t let them seat you there. But hey, you can get a seat on busy night. Stars = 2 Therefore, the average is 3.25, but it’s really a «Meh, I’ve experienced better» overall. Will I return? Probably, because we can get seats and they have cheap beer. So Yay for that. Will I recommend it to others as a cool place to go? Nope.

I agreed to meet my friend here for drinks, and I should have known how bad it would be when she exclaimed, «I picked this place ‘cuz it’s always empty when I walk by.» Great. We sat at a too-large-for 4 booth and then moved to a smaller one when it opened up. Normally, I’d go for the bigger booth, but the atmosphere was so cold that you just felt like getting close to each other for protection. The lone singer in the joint started up under the«live music» sign which made things a bit better, I guess, that is until you attempted to have a conversation with your friends. A few booths didn’t seem to mind as they weren’t really talking, but we realized that they were probably there just to see the aforementioned singer. The wine list was so abysmal which was too be expected, so I stuck with the beer. The nachos looked okay but I am so glad I didn’t order any food. The pizza def. looked frozen. Yuck. The crowd was fairly young and male-dominant, but I noticed that even the dudes who came here looking for this type of atmosphere didn’t seem to want to stick around. The service was prompt and the bathrooms were clean, probably due in part since the place was devoid of many women. It was fine for a few brew, but after a beautiful French dinner it was«sorta» a let down. Even the Kits location has a better atmosphere, but perhaps that’s only during game night, and I hope that my friend doesn’t force me to meet her here again anytime soon.

I usually eat at Coppertank if I can’t find parking anywhere else on Main Street. Coppertank is almost always never full so you never have to wait long. They have an upstairs area for private parties which can be booked for up to 20 people. Service is average and the servers aren’t extremely friendly. My friends had to make a joke before she even smiled. I don’t think they are angry, but can just use a little more smile and welcoming attitude. The food is nothing exciting, –bar food. I only liked one dish and it the Firehouse Pizza which made my lips numb, but I couldn’t stop eating. Meat or pepperoni with banana peppers, jalapenos and mushrooms. Every other item I tried on the menu was boring or average. But the prices are pretty decent.

Only popped in for a couple of beers after eating at Bob’s place. 8.30pm on a Saturday and it was as dead as a dodo. Atmosphere was, well, there was no atmosphere. Should have takne notice of other Unilocalers and walked ½ block further and gone the the Legion — next time.

I feel compelled to write this negative review as I feel so ripped off. Ate here tonight. Thought about the carnivore platter and asked waitress if meatballs made in house. Did not know but asked and no surprise frozen with a marinara sauce. Should have left immediately. But no, decided to forge on and ordered a Cobb salad and calzone to share, OMG… the salad literally has blue cheese the size of your pinky fingernail… thats it. Had to ask server if this was it? She did bring extra… calzone was stuffed with raw jalapeño & banana peppers etc… no attempt to cook prior to stuffing… huge amounts of bread and really unattractive stuffing… served on parchment paper, which I ended up eating as a result of cutting the calzone on top of it. Served with, what appeared to be, Prego sauce this place obviously shops at Costco and then serves at stupid prices had to ask if anyone in the kitchen had been and at least graduated from culinary school. although she said yes, I had the feeling she had no clue… just like her knowledge of the food Cobb salad… no egg… turkey/ham pre-packages, certainly not cooked in house… how this place survives in trendy main is beyond me… never will darken the door again

The Tank. The self-given nickname reminds me of Will Ferell in Old School. Maybe that’s the only way to enjoy this place, to get Tanked since the food was amateur at best. Lets start with the service. Our somewhat intimidating server didn’t exactly rank high on the friendliness/welcoming scale. Although our beers came within a few minutes, a simple cup of coffee took over 15min to arrive. Last time I checked, my $ 5 coffee maker at home spits out coffee within 5min TOPS. I hate to say it but instant coffee tasted better than what arrived. Food. So I didn’t actually order anything for myself but sampled both the chicken Caesar salad and the pulled pork burger(w/garlic french fries). Salad was drenched in dressing, making for a soggy mess. Pulled pork was not legit. Dry, somewhat burnt, and served on a store bought kaiser bun, it was a major ‘meh’. Garlic fries had a blob of minced garlic on it, nothing memorable. Just maybe I’ll check out their live music nights and get Tanked. But I’ll pass on the food.

I went to this location shortly after it opened and had food and drinks. The service at the time wasn’t great but I remember the food being good. Just went there tonight and have no idea what the heck happened. There was an amazing artist playing, Dino Dinicolo(amazing!), which was the only good thing about the place. Our server was really nice, new, but listened to us. The food was HORRIBLE. I could buy better food at Superstore. Our appetizers came out at the same time as our food and the zoo sticks tasted like frozen batter. The chicken burger I ordered was a frozen cutlet smaller than the bun it was on. I couldn’t bring myself to eat it so I returned it and ordered the veggie burger. The veggie burger turned out to be a cheap version of a President’s choice version. I told the waitress exactly what the issue was and even told her to send the manager over so we could tell him. The manager never came and avoided eye contact with us. They gave us some coupons for free pizza, but I laughed since that would mean we had to go back to eat. It’s really too bad. Nice place, location is along the main st strip. No wonder the place was empty.

they get a half star for FOOD. horrible. everything was blah. and not worth what you pay we just got the quesadilla and jalapeño poppers as appies. luckily we stopped there and after we tried decided not to order anything else i saw other people order other food. nachos. appies. burgers. pizza. nothing looked stellar enuff to order! the good thing was the drinks which were cheap. highballs $ 3.99 and it was a nice day so the sun was shining in and they have a couple of skylights they were also playing the NBA finals which was really really hard to find a place playing it in Vancouver with the sound on. its the finals people! so they get a star just for that. i think its not a bad place to come watch the game and grab drinks. thats about it. forget about the food. service was decent. rest of layout/atmosphere was that of a standard pub.

Been here twice. First time for food which everyone in our party enjoyed(kitchen is upstairs where they apparently make pizza from scratch). Second time was just for drinks. Despite being empty the service was slow and we had to ask twice for a glass of water to accompany our beer. I’ll give this place another chance soon because of the location, the decent pub food and the(in my opinion) reasonable prices.

The pizza was okay. The drinks were okay. The service was AWFUL. One server for the whole place and it wasn’t that busy. but our drinks would be empty for 15 minutes and then she didn’t take our order until half an hour after we sat down(we were all hungry)! The manager had to help a few times(I notice these things). What makes this place different? Nothing. Boring. Lame, etc.

Came here to meet up with some friends that were watching the Canucks game. I don’t really care for hockey, but any excuse to drink is cool with me. $ 3.99 sleeves of Russell Cream Ale and shots of Jagermeister are the everyday specials along with rotating food/drink daily specials. I offered to buy a round of shots everytime the home team scored for the three of us. Final score? 5 – 1 Canucks. Ouch. Total cost? ~$ 65 — pretty good. Damage assessment on liver? Total. Didn’t try any of the food, but the wings looked pretty big and were recommended when I felt nippish — but I quickly passed that hungry-drunk phase as the goals and shots mounded up. Lots of TVs on the plain white walls and there’s a second floor as well — so it’s a good place to watch a game. The men’s lower floor washroom is only one stall — so go during the commercials or lineup during intermission. Service was not as bad as some Unilocalers experienced, the waitress came back pretty often to get the next round of shots. She did forget one of my beers until I reminded her and she came back right away with it and profusely apologized. The only complaint is that she didn’t split the bill like I asked — in fact, she was the first to ask ‘whose bill’ the shots would go onto. There’s was no auto-gratituty for our table of 8 — but in the confusion of calculating and spliting the bill, I think I way over-tipped her. Not a huge deal — but it was not fun trying to do math with a few beers and several shots of liquor in your stomach. Not sure if I dig the vibe of this place all that much(it has the character of a big-box electronic store) — but with relatively easy and free parking nearby and $ 4 daily specials, it’s not bad. Getting wasted on the cheap makes up for a lot of shortcomings.

I keep reading these mediocre reviews for this place, and I have to say, I disagree 100%. I’ve been there 4 times now and it gets better every time. The place is fantastic if you want to meet up with friends, watch the game and enjoy affordable food and drink. For the people who came on a date and did not like the sound… that sucks! But that’s what happens when you go to a pub in Vancouver! We’re passionate fans, we ring the buzzer when the Canucks score, we cheer and scream our lungs out! I would suggest a restaurant next time ;) The service, I find, is great, friendly, knowledgeable and fun; one of the reasons I come back! So, star for service, now let’s talk food. The Food is also pretty good. The pulled pork burger was mouth-watering and wings are great too(big!). I HAVE to subtract one star due to lack of flavor in the nachos(that’s cause I love nachos more than life). They just need to season the nachos a bit, add some jalapenos and bam! You got yourself a good nachos. I should talk to the cooks. They have cool specials every day of the week(Wings and a pint $ 10, Pizza and pint $ 10 etc.) Anyways, enough talking! Im gonna go tonight, watch Canucks win, have some drinks, food, and laughs. All with friends, of course, because everyone I know loves it here.

I understand what they thought. The kits version was so cool… all wooden interior, student bar vibe, great mix between sports bar and live music shindig. unfortunately this location did not emulate ANY of those properties. this cold austere bar is much too polished and the layout is unfortunate for socializing with randoms. Not even a nice try. it’s like cactus club wanted to get in the business of dive bars and failed horribly– sans the hot servers. Why is this even called the coppertank?

On a Friday They have large flat screens on the walls where you can watch the game. The place is pretty small, with an upstairs that you can book out for up to 20 people. The atmosphere is actually pretty nice but when service is bad, the whole experience is bad. The waitress was pushy and rude… but somehow still did her job properly she sure wanted your money for the tips she wasn’t going to get at the end of the night because of her poor attitude. I couldn’t make up my mind on what to drink but she just seemed impatient and in the end, I just didn’t feel like drinking. Maybe it’s on Main Street, but last call was before midnight and the place closed shortly after. I wanted to order dessert but was uninformed that the kitchen was closing prior to. They have some decent weeknight deals and if you go with a bunch of people, you can have a good night.
