We’re thrilled with the work Stephen did for us. The price was fair and the service was cheerful, creative and competent. The job was to frame two similar graphic t-shirts and suggest how best to do that. The challenge was to stretch the fabric to make the art appear symmetrical as on an original canvas, not an older misshapen t-shirt. Each image was a different size but Stephen matched the frame size by adapting the size of the matte. Also cool is that he was able to store the rest of the t-shirt behind the matte so we didn’t have to cut up these favourite pieces from the ‘90s. They look like new under glass, similar but each with their own character. Mission accomplished, thanks!

I had a great experience at this store — I didn’t know choosing a frame could be so fun! Stephan showed so many beautiful options, he really seems to enjoy what he’s doing. I was delighted with the result and the price was very reasonable.

I recently acquired an Emily Carr museum poster, and wanted to get it framed. I had an art print from yesteryear that I never really cared for. But I loved the unique tropical hardwood frame. The new poster and the frame were roughly the same proportions, but not exactly. So my goal was to parachute the new poster into my old frame. I thought Stephen was the owner because of the time he took to work-out the dimensions of the matte, despite his looming deadlines. He is NOT the owner, but his work ethic will make you think he is! This is the kind of customer service you just don’t come across often! I wanted this framing ready for the next day, which was a somewhat unreasonable request — but I was going out-of-town and I hoped to take it with me. So I asked, and Stephen cheerfully said«no problem»! These guys are a landmark on Denman Street, and their longevity is because they are excellent at their craft, they are friendly and they are NOT pushy. I highly recommend them. Well worth going to the West End.

Had an absolutely pleasant experience here. Brought in a ink print I needed framed, wasn’t sure what i wanted but the owner(i think) took a good amount of time going through lots of options and listening to what my style was(as opposed to her vision). really appreciated that. I also told her I lived up north and wouldn’t be able to pick it up for a few months. No problem. They would keep it for me then pack it for travel when i pick it up. When I returned 2 months later another staffer helped me but when she came out she recognized me(and the piece) and we chatted about how well it turned out. It really did look wicked perfect! I was so happy cause, framing ain’t cheap! All this to say the touch is personal, as anything art-related should be. Would definitely go back.

One of the things about places located on Denman Street is how long it’s been there. The foot traffic on the actual street is highly seasonal making it not the easiest area in the city to keep a business going. In the almost decade and a half I’ve lived in Vancouver, most of it in the West End, Fast Frames has been there, and in my opinion for good reason. Alas it was a friend with a penchant for collecting old LIFE magazines; he started to frame some of the more expensive ones for himself, and as gifts for his partner. This is where I learned how beautiful yet expensive framing is but how almost like a tattoo once you have something framed if you only do it once you’re fine but if you go back for more you quickly find yourself almost hoping for something worthy of framing to come by. When the need to frame hits, this is where you want to go. I’ve had three pieces done here so far and a little bridy told me i’ll have another one rather soon. I also damaged one in a tantrum of mass destruction and was floored when it cost only $ 20.00 to have it repaired. The mostly long standing staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable and aren’t pushy, they want you happy, they will work with you to ensure that the vision of how you see your piece framed comes to life.

As well as offering framing services, this store is well-known for it’s stroke by stroke reproductions of famous paintings and details of famous paintings. They can also do a reproduction of any print and transfer it to a canvas for a painted look. If you’ve grown beyond posters, but can’t afford original artworks, it’s a nice medium.
