Such a cool spot. The greatest lattes and coffees, super reasonably priced, to the point that I asked if he had given me a discount for my 2 lattes! He always has a smile and a chat for me when I go in. Like the old days!

One of my favorite little breakfast places. The staff greets you in a way that makes you feel like family, and that is one of the reasons I like it so much. There are a few good, basic breakfast items that are done consistently well. I am also very pleased that they offer gluten free toast!

Agreed with the other reviews that Giancarlo’s is welcoming like you’d expect from a family-​run business for the neighbourhood. Giancarlo himself is a stand up guy and remembers his customers, even if they haven’t been around in a while. I’ve now been here for coffee a dozen times and have never been disappointed by either the drink or the service. Will have to give the soups/​sandwiches a try after having read the other reviews!

I usually come here for coffee and sometimes a sandwich when hungry. Heard there soup is pretty good. Food is fresh of course because it isn’t like frozen food like most places you eat or some canned crap. Pricing is good too.

GianCarlo is the sandwich/​soup/​service king! Everything he makes is fresh, and ridiculously delicious. Even when the place is packed with people, he takes the time to chat with everyone and make them feel welcome, and that’s how you run a business. Even when I’m having a shitty day, by the time i leave his establishment i always feel better.

So, I was on the prowl for a
GREAT soup (Not one of those mediocre soups that are all broth and not much of anything else) but a hearty homemade type. Well,
I was on commercial Dr. And a friend I ran into mentioned this place in particular and what outstanding bowls of soup they had. So of course, I had to check it out!
So they had two soups to choose from, the vegetable beef or a minestrone. I got the beef and my girlfriend had the minestrone.
This place really did not disappoint! Our soups were deep bowls of delicious tasting soup that were hearty, filling and served with a bread! Even even better was the price! $ 5.50! I would have easily paid $ 8 anywhere else for the quality and probably would have gotten «average soup». We were too full to try their sandwiches but the guy beside me eating a breakfast sandwich said his was awesome and he comes for them every weekend! We will be back and absolutely recommend.

Giancarlo is like a warm, welcoming family complete with all the cousins! Everyone is welcomed like an old friend or returning family member, bid to have a seat anywhere, have a coffee, Italian soda maybe, how about a bowl of soup? They definitely make the best Americano anywhere and I can’t stomach it normally! A war, friendly atmosphere, great food prepared with love and care, welcoming atmosphere … What more could you ask for? Come on in, there’s sure to be someone up for a game of La Scopa or a chat and Giancarlo or Lanie will make sure your cup runneth over … In a good way!

Giancarlo’s himself is an oldschool Italian Kid that has been making coffee his whole life. He is the Herny Hill in Goodfellas born and raised around the Espresso Bars his whole life.
Could be the best barista in Vancouver, for sure the most humble.
If you want old fashion Italian coffee go to Giancarlo’s. Starbucks and other chains took a page out his play book.
Service is second to none, the best coffee on the Commerical Drive, and maybe the City.
GianCarlo is the King of the Drive!
