Came by to try some crepes. Parking is available along the side streets, as well as some metered spots directly in front. The inside is minimalist but has a nice vintage feel to it. There were also some chairs and tables outside, though this is obviously only good during sunny days. Staff were friendly. They whipped up the crepes in no time, and were quite helpful with the fillings selection. The crepes here are quite tasty, but are a bit expensive at $ 9 or so a pop. The skins are nice and thin, and they’re quite generous with the fillings. I tried 2 of them. Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, mushroom, and bacon — nice mix of flavours. Cheese is nice and gooey. Can’t go wrong with bacon. Walnut, pistachio, brie, and apple — not as sweet as I was expecting, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Covered with a light dusting of icing sugar. The nuts just added a bit of crunch, but personally I would’ve preferred maybe some chocolate sauce on it. Overall the food and ambience are quite decent, but the pricing is definitely on the high end.

Went here on a recommendation of a local friend who lived here. Only had a chance to try their coffee, which was great. Will try the crepes next time.

I know this place’s got quite a bit of good reviews so I decided to check it out. Gypsy Rose is located at a convenient area on west 4th with tonnes of cool shops along the way. The place is small with maybe 6 – 7 tables available, its great to stop by for a quick snack if you are shopping in that area. There aren’t much renovations inside but it looks ok. I didn’t see any bathrooms inside and I’m not sure if they have one for customers at the back. There is a self-serve place for water with cups. There is about 10 – 15 selections on both the sweet or savory categories. For the sweet I chose: walnut, pistachio, Brie and apple. For the savory I chose: bacon, cheddar and mushroom and swiss(1 $ extra) with a small salad on the side. Sides/toppings like cheese are generally 1 $ extra. They also sell coffee and juices etc. Taste and presentation are both not bad. It is a bit pricey paying 9.5 $ for a crêpe when all ingredients can be found at home. Crepes usually range from 6.5 $ to 9.5 $. Make sure you check out their work hours on different days. Paid street parking available.

I was starving and there were crepes — enough said. Crepes can be hit or miss but this one was *perfect* — the lady was lovely and the café was cute. The only reason it’s not 5 stars was we were a bit squished. My allergies were addressed perfectly and the mushroom, bacon, and cheddar crêpe was amazing! Highly recommend.

This place is great. The owner is almost always there to make whatever you want. Sweet and savoury, they got the basics really happening here. Not quite as fluffy as some like, but it feels right. I almost always get eggs, spinach, mushrooms, and Swiss. Great coffee too!

I watched the guy behind the counter, eat a strawberry that he was cutting up for my crêpe with his bare hands then continue making my crêpe with his bare hands. Unsanitary. Don’t go here.

Pretty good crepes but I prefer café crepes because the crepes here are a bit thicker, not a perfect brown on one side but bubbly brown areas so a bit more doughy. Still a nice and hot treat when walking around. Nice big seating area looking out.

Awful. Coffee was gritty, service was disorganized. Waited 45 minutes for two seriously sub-par crepes. Glaringly obvious that all the ingredients were from No Frills. Quality to be expected from something half the price, will not be returning.

Price of coffee for the quality is a little high. If i had a tip, I would recommend that the baristas learn how to draw coffee art. That way, they can have customers looking forward to drinking out of art. Anyways, aside from the tip, they have free wi-fi, cups of water for self service. The employees are nice and friendly. Company should tone it down on prices, clean the floors, and remodel the inside a little.

Being really close to me, this has turned into a favourite! Much better quality than café crêpe, and healthier than a greasy spoon. Gluten free option is a nice touch! Noisy ass street style patio, but cozy inside. Good coffee!

When I was living in Kits, I had passed the Gypsy Rose many times and always wanted to go, mainly because I thought the European touch was quaint. I never managed to go though until today. Be curious no more!!! I really had expected something else and felt like I walked into a trap of some sort. The service was robotic and passive and the waiting times for two crêpe order was over 30 min(The café didn’t seem busy). The drinks were served in disposable plastic containers for a sit in order!!! My boyfriend ordered a bacon crêpe asking for the bacon to be well done. The«crêpe» came with«soft» bacon and actually, it was a folded pancake, not a crêpe. I had the gluten free version with Spinach and Cheese and I found it was satisfactory. Kudos for them offering a gluten free crêpe though! Lastly, I was very unimpressed with all the dirt and mess around. The table, floor, windows… staring a greasy hand stains on the door doesn’t particularly enhance the eating experience. I also went for a pit stop which let me through the kitchen which should have set my alarm bells ringing. Deplorable. It looked CHAOTIC in there. Eating at the SFU24hr student mensa suddenly seems to be of michelin star quality compared to the Gypsy Rose Restaurant.

Since the ownership of this place has changed hands theres been a nice reno — a lot cleaner looking and just better overall. However, the prices went up and portions went down. The staff there are nice and friendly, but I can’t justify $ 10 for a crêpe that has spinach, mushrooms, feta cheese, and an egg. Especially when its not even decently sized, or decently packed with ingredients. Sorry guys, I’m gonna have to stop coming there.

My friend, Peter Bohm, and I planned visit at a different nearby café, their long line led us to consider another. A native of Vancouver, Peter suggested several coffee shops in the area… and there are many. We happened upon the Gypsy Rose Café, with it’s open front window and sidewalk seating. We were welcomed as though they really meant it. I believe they did. I enjoyed their fresh brew coffee and walnut-banana muffin. Peter loaded his plate a great deal more. They even provide free refills for the coffee. There’s an enjoyable dining experience there and it offers a great view of the street life of Vancouver on West 24th Ave near Arbutus. We’d been in Vancouver since Tuesday and by this time I knew my way around pretty well. I enjoyed the Gypsy Rose Café so much I went back on Sunday, introducing it to my friend Len, while our wives were in the last day of their class at UBC. Len has lived in Vancouver for more than forty years and I believe his fist first to the Gypsy Rose Café won’t be his last. I hope it won’t be mine either.

I wasn’t sure walking in here if it was worth the money but I felt I got great value for money when I left, I had a savory crêpe and a cup if coffee, it was $ 12 and absolutely delicious

When you no longer serve the«SALAD,» any salad, listed on two CHALK menu board(and as the first item on the main menu board behind the register) it’s just lazy. One of the staff was a lovely woman making up the crepes. She took my order when her colleague was ringing up another customer, offered me water, and was quite engaging. She definitely carried the load(and quite pleasantly, too), although her cooking didn’t impress me. My bland spinach, feta, bacon, and tomato crêpe included burnt bacon — but lacked much in the way of feta — and was folded more like a burrito than a true crêpe. The attitude of her co-worker(and I use the term loosely) is most charitably described as laissez-faire.Well, at least one of ‘em was a rose…

Something’s different. I don’t know what happened: the last time I was here, it was the same mom taking my order, the same daughter making my crêpe and the same brother running it out to me. Since my last visit, either someone broke in and decided to make crepes for them or the business has changed hands. Or maybe they’re on vacation… But since it looks like they’ve renovated and moved the coffee station, I think that new owners have taken over. Perhaps it’s the growing pains of taking over an established business, but 32 minutes waiting for a crêpe is way too long. Every time I saw the blond guy break out the brie, I thought… this is me… this is it. But sadly no. We came on a busy weekend morning and almost every table was full. Last table by the register please. While I sat, my husband ordered a water and two crepes… he got ham, cheese and tomatoes and I got the pistachio, brie and maple syrup. I am guessing they were getting slammed. There was a person in the back prep room, someone making crepes and another guy ringing everyone up. The guy ringing everyone up was running everywhere… sometimes the guy making the crêpe had to accept the money and go back to making crepes. Crepes still taste the same, but aren’t as crisp/done as they used to be. They are still chock full of brie and doused in maple like I like em though. Perhaps I’ll wait a bit until the rhythm works itself out.

Great place for a quick lunch. Soooo much better than Café Crêpe(crap). There’s a wide variety consisting of savory and sweet crepes. On the suggestion of the server, I had the one with feta, spinach, egg and mushroom. It was delicious ! Also tried the brie, walnut and maple syrup crêpe for dessert. Both the crepes came quickly and were full of flavor. The average price of the crepes was between $ 6 – 8 depending on how many ingredients are in the filling. It’s a nice little spot with outdoor seating on sunny days. They serve sandwiches, quiches, and coffee etc too, so it’s not just crepes. The service is very friendly too ! Next time you’re in the mood for a crêpe, do yourself a favor and come here :)

I found myself with a little time to kill while running errands in Kits, so I pulled out my Unilocal app to find a good but quick breakfast place nearby. I didn’t want something fancy, just a decent place where I could comfortably sit for 20 – 30 minutes and enjoy a cup of coffee and something savory. This is how I found Gypsy Rose. I ALMOST didn’t go in after pulling up for parking and seeing that all the tables outside were filled. It must be packed inside, I thought. Still I figured why not just try it out. Surprisingly, it was a loud group of friends that had chosen to sit outside but there wasn’t a single person inside. Perfect, I thought. Although, odd to find a place without a line out the door around brunch time. Again, I became slightly hesitant… As any good crepes place has, they offered a fairly long list of both sweet and savory options. If you know me by now, you know I don’t opt for the sweet stuff. I picked the ham and cheese and tomato and egg, which was good, but next time I might even do the spinach, tomato, basil, and feta which is what the owner suggested. She was so friendly and sweet. We chatted for several minutes and then suddenly four more tables came in. She was just as friendly and helpful with each of them, while being efficient and multi-tasking along with her husband and son behind the counter to prepare all the meals. One point lost on the self-serve station not being kept up. The milk thermos for the coffee was empty, and the ice water also needed to be refilled. I don’t mind asking for that, but would be great if that was something they were paying attention to before the place got busy and several of us waited around for the line to die down so we could ask for some. The crepes are large and filling, and I don’t know why people are saying they’re overpriced. They range from about $ 6 – 9 — not sure where you find them cheaper but would like to know!
