Hyatt Regency Vancouver

Just returned from a three night stay at The Hyatt Regency in Vancouver. This hotel is perfectly located and surrounded by lots of shopping and dining. This property is very modern and technologically advanced (cool elevator system) and there is complimentary wi-​fi. There is a Starbucks in the lobby and Tim Hortons, 24 Hour McDonalds and a drug store next door. There’s also a bar /​lounge and restaurant in house…
Each encounter with a Hyatt employee was very pleasant. It all started when we checked in. Sigfred assisted us and was very helpful with suggestions during our stay in Vancouver and our day trip to board in Whistler. He definitely answered all of our questions and took care of our requests. Our room was awesome — we had a corner room with a balcony. The room itself was very spacious and inviting (room 2001). Our view of downtown was amazing (see pictures). Don’t forget to adjust the shower head settings to your liking (I love strong water pressure)
Shopping is literally within steps from the Hyatt. We rented a car because we went to Whistler (70 something miles away — takes a little less than two hours — the drive is so beautiful and scenic), but it’s probably not needed if you intend to stay within the general downtown area. Vancouver also has public transportation that you can easily take advantage of

Be mindful of your schedule if you have a car so you know which parking option to choose. The parking structure has different rates, so ask for a printout when you check in. The overnight parking at The Hyatt is $ 36, but it allows unlimited in and out privileges until 2 PM the following day. We only selected this option on our second night since we had plans to leave the hotel on two separate occasions. On our last night, we returned to The Hyatt around 8 PM and left before 6 AM – we selected the standard parking garage rate and it was only $ 4 (weekend nightly rate if leaving before 6 AM). My fiancé and I loved everything about The Hyatt Regency Vancouver. This has definitely earned our choice of stay when in Vancouver…

Stayed here for NYE, it was great, one of the only hotels that let u bring drinks from the bar to your room. Pool and hot tub is outside, but it is heated, hot tub was great after a hang over. Only thing I wish they had one window that would open, didn’t like that there is no fresh air circulating. Next time I will get a balcony room!

Hotel and room were terrific, but the service at the front desk was atrocious. I checked out and moved to the Westin Bayshore and was SO glad I did. Turned a bummer into a Winner.

There is nothing positive i can say about my stay here. It was our anniversary so we wanted to explore Vancouver B.C. and especially try out the night markets. We picked the Hyatt since they were a 4 star hotel and made a reservation online for a king sized bed so we can sleep comfortably in the same bed. When we arrived we were told they gave away our room! but claimed to have a room with two beds! After explaining our situation and literally begged for a big one bed. We had no choice but to take the small two beds. We were forced to sleep separate from each other on our anniversary because they gave away our «reserved» room! We did not even get an apology just an offer for a room with 2 beds. SARAH M. MADE A REVIEW ABOUT THIS SAME EXPERIENCE READ HER REVIEW TOO! To make matters worse… There were boogers wiped on our shower curtains. Even with a note we wrote to room service. It was not cleaned for two days! Our anniversary was some what ruined because of the Hyatt. Vancouver was fun though! I would not recommend the Hyatt to anyone ever! 1 star is about right for this joint…

Had a PD course here. Well not just PD course, I had many meeting and events here at the Hyatt Regency. Its one of the hot picked hotel for PD courses or just meeting. The reason being its located in the center of downtown. Its close to the Burrard skytrain. Well most people that come here, usually take transit. Parking is crazy and costly downtown. With no exception with the Hyatt.
Most conference meeting are located on the 34^th floor and up. The conference room are good size and I believe it can be opened up into one large room. One thing, I find interesting is their elevators. You press at the bottom or main floor to take you up to the floor you want to go to which is controlled by one central elevator screen for all elevators. To get down from the last floor you were on, you just return back in to the elevator at the end. There are no button to press.
As well, the hotel is clean and had lots of people working, so you don’t ever have to worry about getting lost or anything.

Yikes for a great location, what a average hotel. This place was disappointing from the moment I checked in… All the way to the follow up email they sent me asking what I did not like. As a business traveler I expect courteous service that’s quick. A well appointed room if I pay more than $ 300 a night.
I paid $ 400 and received nothing for the value.
Overall the place is a really poor value. Sheets and towels were worn and bleach starchy.
Bath was ugly.
Bed was musshy.
And the front of the house staff where sassy that I dared to complain.
Just shop around before you book. That’s my only advice.

Located in the middle of everything in Downtown Vancouver and right next to a subway station, this is definitely a central location to stay at when visiting. You’ve got shops and restaurants all around.
I love their elevator system. Instead of the typical elevator system, you actually choose your floor first and then the system will let you know which elevator to get on. The elevator goes directly to your floor. There are no floor buttons inside the elevator. This way, the system can allocate people to elevators instead of everyone getting on an elevator and stopping at every floor. Quite efficient!
The room was quite spacious and clean. The housekeeping lady did a great job refilling everything and meeting our requests that we left on a note.
Parking is expensive. It gives you in and out privileges, but comes with a price tag. I thought it was worth it as a car gave us the freedom to drive to places outside the city.
Tip: If you’re staying here and you check in via Unilocal,you can get a buy 1 get 1 free breakfast buffet. And the buffet has a pretty good spread: eggs/​omelet station, bacon, sausage, waffles, congee, smoke salmon, fruit, cereal, toast, etc. It’s normally $ 28 CAD. You need to charge it to your room. When you check out, show the check-​in to the front desk so they can give you the buy 1 get 1 free discount.

After a gross experience with an inconsiderate AirBnB host, we ended up at the Hyatt, primarily because most other hotels with similar price points in Downtown Vancouver were all booked up for Labor Day weekend. It turned out to be one of the most remarkable things about our trip, actually.
Its location is walking distance or a short cab ride away from many good restaurants, bars, and shopping areas. It also makes it convenient for tourists to get to some of the major attractions, such as the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, through its free shuttles.
The agent we dealt with when we checked in was an angel! He heard about our AirBnB horror story and knocked $ 100 off our nightly rate and sent a complimentary bottle of wine up to our room. If that’s not nice, I don’t know what is! We happened to be reviewing our credit card charges later that evening when we noticed that they had charged us the incorrect amount for our stay, so we called down to notify them about it. They fixed it right away, no sweat. Really great staff overall.
The room we got on the 16^th floor was impeccably clean. It had a sizable bathroom with all the things we needed, and the shower’s water pressure was perfect. This is a pretty big deal because I’ve been to hotels where the water pressure sucked! Everything about the bed was superbly comfortable — just what we needed after a very long day. We slept like babies. The next day, our room got cleaned, and they did a great job.
The hotel has two bars/​restaurants — one on the ground level and another on the second floor. Both are awesome for food and drinks. We were happy with our experiences in both places. Yeah, there is also a Starbucks on the ground floor.
I really can’t think of anything bad to say about this Hyatt based on our two-​night stay. I’ll definitely consider it again for future Vancouver trips.

Very nice hotel.
Great location and friendly staff. Lots of great places to walk to from there, the cruise ship terminal is just down the street. Also although gastown and china town are a bit of a walk it is certainly do-​able (if you enjoy walking).
My only gripe is the parking garage, their garage entrance is only 6 foot tall, so our SUV which is just a couple inches over that wouldn’t fit. We had to go down the street and find a different parking garage. Next time we won’t bring the SUV.

Do not be fooled, this is a low-​quality, we-can’t-care-less-about-you convention dorm.
The general level of everything can be stated as really underwhelming and not at all impressive. What is impressive is their ridiculous high prices. We had to book on a relatively short notice and paid MORE than what we pay in Hawaii for a boutique hotel on the shore. With all the hidden fees and taxes it came to 800+ Canadian dollars per night for two people in a cheapo corporate shoebox. The room was the typical no-​place, small and with a sagging mattress.
We arrived in a stretched limo at midnight, NOBODY came to pick up our luggage. The bellboy was behind the counter and only started to move when I took our luggage inside the hotel. Thanks for your great service and a great start!
Pros
–Check in: very good (well, not many guest around at midnight anyway, uh?)
–Concierge service: very good, courteous, efficient
–Room Cleaning service: very good, attentive and impeccable
–Location: excellent
Cons:
–Breakfast Buffet: overpriced greasy cheapo corporate standard mediocrity
–Rooms: if you paid what we had to pay for booking close to the date, you certainly will be disgusted by it as much as we were
–Elevators: we got it the first time around and never had a problem, but saw SCORES of guests totally lost and frustrated with that very «intelligent» (NOT) system.
–I was offered a complimentary newspaper. Got it only ONE day of the three. Again, thanks a lot, clueless mediocre hotel!
–Lots, and lots, and lots of people attending conventions and the like. Chocking every space. Making you feel like another sardine most of the time.
We will certainly avoid this paradigm of mediocrity and lame standards at all costs in the future.

BE AWARE!!! You guys may know that Vancouver has a lot of great hotels. Just avoid Hyatt Regency especially you visit Vanouver for important interview.
1. You will get a key that will never work. You’ll need to wait for 15 min to get a new key even if you are tired for long flight.
2. You will be asked to move your room after 1 night stay. It will never be informed before. Your key will be suddenly not working and you will be noticed once you ask them a new key. They will ask you to move your stuff right away but don’t worry. If you say you have no time to do so, they will move your stuff from old room to new room. HOWEVER…
3. You will lost your stuff from here. I lost my sunscreen, foam cleanser, and shower towel.
4. Here is one reason for one star: They asked me to buy new ones and return the receipt. I bought missing stuffs from drugstores and gave receipt to them. (don’t stop reading. you will be disappointed soon)
5. You will be told that you will get credit that can be used in Hyatt, which I don’t need it. I am here for business travel and all foods were provided. They just said that they will reimburse it but once I bought them, they said it would be «store credit»
6. I complained about it and a staff said she will contact me. I wrote my EMAIL ADDRESS and phone number. One day later, I got a call from another staff at 11 to get reimbursement. They should send an email or leave a memo (they definitely know where my room is), rather calling to a room at 11 PM. I was sleeping and I have an important job interview tomorrow 8:30AM. Now is 12AM.
7. I was informed that breakfast meeting is held from 8:30 — 10:30. I called to them where it would be at 9:10AM and they said it is already over-​they informed me that the meeting is 8:30 — 9:00AM.30 minutes for breakfast meeting? I just tried to go and it finished at 10:30AM.
Again, you have bunch of alternatives in Vancouver. Don’t waste your time. I have been in Hyatt for many times but Hyatt Vancouver is definitely miserable. You will spoil all your travel if you stay here. I need to stay here for another 2 more days but I am just afraid what will be happened again.

This is a long overdue review for a great hotel. Got an amazing deal on Priceline and by the time we got there, they were running out of double rooms so we said we’d take the King bed even though we had a toddler in tow. They ended up upgrading m us to a balcony room on the 19^th floor. Wow was the room and view amazing! It didn’t face Burrard but had a view of the pool and hot tub below.
At check in, they also allowed our kid to pick a books or little stuffed animals from a kids basket (I’ve NEVER seen that before — even at other Hyatts we have stayed at). I also signed up for Hyatt’s Club and they gave us free wi-​Fi.
The room was clean and large, the bed was comfortable, and our stay was great. We had a view of the pool but never used it. They even gave us a tip for parking — you can pay us the full rate or the discounted rate the garage charges over the weekend. That was very helpful as we saved a good amount in parking.
The hotel is also within walking distance of the water and lots of great dining on Robson. We visited the Café Crêpe just a few blocks down from the hotel many times bc our kiddo was obsessed with them. There’s also a JapaDog cart that parks itself across the street so you don’t have to go all the way down Robson to get one of their super amazing dogs!

Five of us stayed at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver on our first night in the city, and it was a perfect start to the trip! We drove in exhausted and short-​tempered after 10-​hour-​drive turned 13-​hour-​drive. The Hyatt was easy to find and the concierge checked in very quickly.
The rooms are GORGEOUS and modern and the view we had, facing the city and being able to see parts of the ocean, totally cleansed us of all of our negative attitude at that point.
The beds were comfortable, the rooms are basically soundproof, and check out was easy!
Tips: don’t forget to get a day pass for parking or else it’ll be expensive to leave, and clearance for vehicles underground is on 6’1″.

Impeccable service — from all the staff members — especially the Manager who went above and beyond — cheers!
The room is nicely appointed, modern & clean, great view too !!!
Skytrain station is a few steps away — fastest and cheapest way to get to the airport; amtrak station nearby and the waterfront is just a few blocks away
Shopping and food galore within walking distance.

Luxury hotel in a great downtown location; walking distance to shops, restaurants, coffee, Stanley Park, public transit, and other great Vancouver attractions. It also has one of the best rooms of any hotel I’ve stayed in in Vancouver: modern finishes, a layout that makes sense, really comfortable bed, extra linens and blankets, rain shower, and views for days. Amenities and conveniences include pool and spa, fitness center (no sauna or steam), and a Starbucks in the lobby. Wifi will cost you though, unless you sign up for the Hyatt rewards program, it’s then free for the duration of that stay.
The real winner though was the customer service (with the exception of the Starbucks folks who were clearly out to destroy me). The tone was set by Vicky at the front desk upon check-​in, and then hit out of the park by Tracy at the Concierge desk. Housekeeping and security were equally nice and helpful.
My one issue is with the elevators. We know that technology makes our lives easier; we also know that it sometimes backfires, creating additional frustration. Exhibit A: You enter your floor number on the touchscreen, and it tells you to go to elevator E, you get to elevator E just in time to see its doors close. Or, Exhibit B: you make it in, the doors close, and 8 floors are lit up — did people miss the elevator? Are there ghosts staying here and riding with me? Is the elevator just a robot from the future (or a bored 12 year old in the lobby) playing a practical joke on me?
Talk amongst yourselves.

This is the perfect hotel to call «home base» while you tour everything Vancouver has to offer. This very modern, bustling hotel is tucked into the heart of downtown, next to just about everything; Four blocks from the pier/​harbor/​sea planes, two blocks from fabulous shopping, surrounded by restaurants, and just a few easy miles to North Vancouver, where you can truly experience Canadian natural wonders.
The service at this hotel is impeccable. Every little (and large) request was delivered to my room in under 3 minutes. Every — single — one. Incredible.
The concierge lounge always had tasty morsels available, day and night. One evening, they had bacon-​wrapped scallops and I thought I was in heaven. It deserves one more mention: bacon-​wrapped scallops. Mmmmmm.
The gym was well-​stocked, clean, and the equipment was all new and functioning properly. The windows for the gym faced the pool and hot tub. I noticed a few people working out while observing their kids swimming… pretty genius adult/​child play time setup!
The rooms were ultra clean and appeared to have brand-​new everything! There were no «dips» in the mattresses, the carpet was fresh and new, the furniture smelled new, and there were outlets and charging areas on every wall! The bathroom was all stone, with a lighted large mirror, lighted makeup mirror, and a shower that rained from the ceiling.
I stayed on the 29^th floor and it was ultra quiet. Perfect for catching much-​needed Zzzzzzzzz.
The bellman, front desk, room service, concierge attendant, and kitchen were all fabulously helpful, and so personable! I loved my entire visit to Canada, but the Hyatt was the cherry on my sundae.
Hyatt is my hotel of choice for travel.

Pros:
–Renovated, modern rooms
–Balcony with corner room overlooks downtown (cool!)
–Fitness center was clean, seemed fine
–Desk in the room was great
–Lots of outlets, most at seated level
–If you are a new Hyatt points member, you can get free wifi for your first stay.
Cons:
–NOT SOUNDPROOF. We could hear everything our neighbor was doing. Can hear noises from the street. Luckily, the thermostat in the room has a Lo/​Med/​High setting for the fan and turning it on High provides the ultimate white noise.
–Front desk was understaffed. Don’t even bother trying to phone down for help.

I checked in well after 2am. The front desk’s two staffers oddly enough for such an hour were both assisting other people. It wasn’t too long a wait before a very pleasant man checked me in. He added my Gold Passport number to my reservation, gave me a high floor (30) room with partial water view and personally walked me to the lifts, explaining how to operate them.
I love technology and the lifts here definitely use a really neat technology I’ve not seen before. Instead of a simple up/​down button outside there is a digital key pad to type in what floor you want. The computer system then efficiently assigns you to a specific lift. There are no floor buttons in the lifts — to see which other floors the lift is going to look on the inside frame of the door.
My room 3004 was spacious. The TV was on a big hinge so it could move to face the bed, desk or chair. There were plenty of plugs — and in the right places! (Yeah!) There was one in the lamp on each side of the bed and 2 — plus USB — on the face of the desk. The shower was cool to — the water rains down from the ceiling.
The location of the hotel is great. It’s right next to the Burrard SkyTrain Station and within walking distance to so many things, as is the case in Vancouver. It is also Stop #12 on the Vancouver Trolley Company route (see my separate review of the VTC).
The hotel has breakfast on floor 2. Gym/​pool/​hot tub on 4. The pool/​hot tub are outside. The gym is small. There are free weights, treadmills facing the courtyard pool and 2 ellipticals. There are some machines, chest/​legs/​etc. One for each muscle group really.
Because of the nice rooms and amazing location I’d stay here again.

I am a big fan of Hyatt properties, and this location didn’t disappoint.
:LOCATION:
Nestled in the heart of Downtown, within walking distance to the Waterfront is the Hyatt Regency. If you are coming from YVR you can take the Canada Line Sky Train and walk a few block to Burrard Street. The Hyatt is in the midst of all the Business going on in the Downtown area, Canada Place, the illustrious Robson Street.
:HOTEL:
The property is as you would imagine a Hyatt property to be. Upscale without being pretentious. There is a Starbucks in the lobby and an amazing Bar and Restaurant (I spent so much time in the bar lol they knew me by name). They have the coolest elevators here…
The pool and gym is located on the 4^th floor. You need your room key to access both. There is a changing room in the event you need it. As well as conference rooms on this level. The pool and Jacuzzi are uncovered, which is nice when the weather is great.
There seems to be a missed opportunity with the entrance. The main entry is the parking area, but it really isn’t that grand. Eh!
:ROOM:
My room is and was exceptional. I had room 3023 (30^th floor) facing the core of Downtown (not Waterfront). My view was absolutely amazing. High up in the sky peering over the grand buildings of City Centre.
My King Size bed was a trap… Seriously, I couldn’t get out of it. The room has floor to ceiling windows, a desk, plenty of space and a wet bar/​coffee area.
The bathroom was nice, my only problem was the shower. Uh, can I just get a shower nozzle from the wall… and not the ceiling. I don’t like to get my hair wet when I’m taking a shower, so I had to contort my body in odd ways. Other than that it was nice, with very fragrant bath products.
:SERVICE:
Top notch service and staff. From the Bellman who hailed me cabs almost everyday to the concierge who was my surrogate travel agent. Sidenote, you can book and pay for many tours at the hotel; with shuttle stops at the hotel.

One of the higher-​end hotels in the downtown Vancouver core.
Parking here is horrendous — either pay through the nose at the meters, or through the nose at in the ridiculously-​priced underground. The good news is that the hotel is close to 2 SkyTrain lines.
As I was here for a conference, I got to hang out on the 34^th floor. The view here is pretty decent, though the tower has obviously been dwarfed by the newer adjacent buildings. But you can still see much of Stanley Park, as well as the rooftops of lesser buildings.
The catered appies are top notch — I got to try such goodies as smoked duck, cheese, and cherry tomatoes. Very fresh ingredients.
The only complaint I had of the refreshments at this event is that they kept running out of iced beverages. As the room filled up, it got quite a bit warmer in there, and everyone started drinking more. Not sure if they’re only supposed to refill the beverage tanks after a preset amount of time, but there were a couple of times when everyone had to walk around thirsty. With that said, the staff were very courteous and professional.
