Awesome awesome awesome!!! Hole in the wall, right near my place, and I had never seen it before. Found it on Unilocal, and decided to try it. The venue only has two tables, but somehow we got a seat right away. However, in the time we ate there, maybe 30 people came in to get take-out, and for a good reason. This place is super small, run by a tight-knit group, authentic Indian food, SOSODELICIOUS, great service, friendly, and cheap!!! I will go back, again and again!

Cheap ‘n’ cheerful. A few of my friends recommended to eat here, so I did. Ordered the pakora and chicken vindaloo. Pakora came up quickly, was tasty, the dip was fragrant. Not the best I’ve had, it was more batter than veggies, but I still enjoyed it. Vindaloo had good flavour, and was wrapped in a roti. I was warned that it was hot, but man oh man it was really hot. Burn the roof of your mouth hot. I let it cool off for a while. The food stayed really hot for the whole meal. For the money it’s a solid meal, big portions. The only downsides are how hot the food was, and that the curry could have used a raita to liven things up, cool things down, and add some variety. I was only offered water, not sure if they have a liquor licence.

I used to go on work trips to Toronto and that is where I learned about roti. When this opened in my neighborhood I was so excited. The lady at the till is always so cheerful and the take out is amazing. My only complaint is that the roti’s are too filling. If I finish one I can’t move for hours. #roticoma. Try the Shahi Paneer

Okay there is a lot of great Indian cuisine to be found in Vancouver, but Indian Roti Kitchen is still a stand out. After moving to Mount Pleasant only a month and a half ago we’ve already eaten here at least once a week(often twice). Definitely a take out place… so order, take out, and brace yourself. Portions can often be big enough for two meals. Stand-outs are the Lamb Korma and the Madras Chicken. So good!

Going by the name I thought they have different kind of indian rotis, but instead they give you curry wrapped in a Mexican flour tortilla. I was hungry so I ate it, but with each bite I could only think of one word: Shame! Also, the curries are overheated, they kind of heat you get from microwaving the dish on high power. This clearly indicates that the food is not fresh. There is no space to sit. Seems like its a local favorite of people who can’t cook and want quick takeout food. For over $ 10, you get a stale overheated curry wrapped in oversized flour tortilla. SHAME that they call it ROTI.

Really delicious, casual Indian food. As other reviews have noted, the portions are huge and a good value. But the quality is still excellent– this is not mall food court curry where the food is over salted and over sugared to make it tasty. The curries here are tasty from good spicing and good ingredients, and each order can be made to your spice level request. The rest of my family orders the roti, but I prefer my curry on rice, and any roti can be made as a rice plate instead for a $ 1 surcharge. We’ve tried the eggplant & potato, butter chicken, chicken madras, chicken tikka masala, and dal. All were delicious. The pakora is also worth ordering. They are tiny and light and crisp, the size of a cherry tomato, not the heavy doughballs that some of the cheap places turn out. It is a tiny place, with 8 seats total. We’ve only eaten in, but the bulk of the business is clearly takeout. There is only one person who works the front– serving tables, taking phone orders, ringing up take out. Even so, she is unfailingly friendly, helpful, and warm.

This place is tiny so not ideal for a sit down meal, they only have three tables and one is used for takeout bags which is kind of ridiculous but there you have it. The food is amazing! I had goat saag roti and it was so much food, I took half of it home and reheated it the next day(still super delish) I would go back, but pre-order it and take it home.

Excellent food! Really small place with only 2 tables — 4 chairs each, but very good service. Super worth the wait!

I absolutely love this place! A friend of ours recommended it a couple of months ago and ever since we have a roti at least once a week. I think I already tried every vegetarian option on the menu and I can recommend all of them. I am a huge fan of Indian cuisine but unfortunately I’m not good with spicy food. And that’s what I like best about that place, you can choose your own level of spiciness. As it is a really small restaurant with just a few seats we usually order our food for take out but I don’t mind at all. Furthermore, the portions are so big I always have left overs. So I pay a reasonable price for dinner and lunch :)

Delicious roti you can’t find anywhere else. They will let you add other veggies to the shrimp curry if you like for a $ 1.

The Indian Roti Kitchen is an all-in-one-roti-roll kind of place. The plates include a large roti with your choice of filling. Options are what you would see as entrees in a traditional Indian restaurant – tikka masala, aloo gobi, daal, etc. The flavors are very good, a definite plus. However, for us, being that everything was wrapped up together, burrito or calzone style, our plates were a bit one-dimensional for our tastes. The portions are large at a good price – a perk for most, I’m sure. For us though, when every bite of that large portion is the same, the dish can become slightly boring over the course of the meal. Clearly the main issue we had was that the style in which the food was served was not our preference. That aside, the cuisine is authentic and tasty, with friendly service.

ATLAST!!! I’ve found a restaurant in Vancouver who does Indian Roti(Toronto’s Gandhi roti style). Its an Indian twist to the Caribbean roti except its bigger, better and tastier. YES, I SAIDIT. Its your choice of any Indian dish wrapped in a thin roti. The roti is very soft and thin, but strong enough to hold the contents. You can choose from their 7 different spicy levels. Just a FYI, their medium is spicy. The place is small and clean and the service is very friendly. They just have 3 tables. Also if you are not in a mood for roti, you can ask for any dish on rice. They also have lots of options for the herbivore-sapiens. Food: Really good Service: Friendly Ambiance: What is this, a restaurant for ants? Worth the price: Yes

The Indian Roti Kitchen isn’t perfect, but they get my seal of approval for being the best at what they are trying to do — be the best roti take-out restaurant in the city! They specialize in a curry-filled roti and offer huge portions with an unbelievably low price. No joke, you can get two rotis and a side order of pakoras for less than $ 25 after tax! Aside from the wonderful selection of delicious curries you can try and the ability to choose your spiciness level, the thing I love the most about this place is that you’re basically getting two meals in one. No way are you finishing an entire roti in one sitting — it’s the size of a small baby! So why only 4 stars? Well although the staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean, the space is small and lacks atmosphere. As such, I personally wouldn’t want to spend a lot of time there; without a delivery option, I feel like the only choice I have is to go there, pick up my grub and then return home to eat it. Take the Indian Roti Kitchen for what it is — fantastic, flavourful Indian take-out food for when both your stomach and wallet are feeling empty.

Update: Since my first review, we’ve probably eaten here about 20 times! And, the food does not disappoint… so consistent, it’s scary(good)! They’re closed until June 4th, 2015 so am waiting to get some more soon.

WHAMMY! The best butter chicken I never had. You can pick your level of spiciness. Always mild for me ;)… I don’t like spicy food… My eyes are watering and that’s not cool… Haha! Really good naam bread as well. FLAWLESS customers service. Small setting(about 3 tables) so for to go is the best option. The place is also really clean. The food always come out quick and perfectly hot. What a discovery!

So sad that I can’t indulge in their specialty– the roti! However, they have plenty of GF options which are amazing. The chicken curry and rice is my current favourite. I always get mine spiced mild-medium which has a pretty serious kick to it(and I do like my spice!) The hostess is always so friendly and accommodating. The interior isn’t much, so I’d recommend it more as a take-out joint. It has definitely become one of my go-to«I’m too lazy to cook tonight» places.

Every roti I’ve had here has been amazing. Incredible value, great selection + 5 spice levels to choose from. Lamb Saag roti is especially amazing. Everything made fresh and with fresh ingredients. The owners are in there every day working their butts off, they still manage to always be friendly, courteous, and fast fast fast. I love this place!

I tried the Malai Kofta Roti and it was more than enough. Portion size doesn’t disappoint. I was worried the roti would get all soggy when I packed it to go but it held together quite nicely the next day. Dare I say it tasted better as leftover since it soaked up all that awesome curry! They got the spice level just right for me. Medium was enough to showcase the light heat coming through. I will definitely try the next level spice next time, perhaps with some meat too. Never had chaat, but don’t think I’m food of the dish itself. It tasted like fried crispy dough with yogurt on it. It might be a preference thing but wasn’t raving about the dish at all.

I have to say I was craving Indian food on the day that I ventured out east to try this place out to meet up with a friend for dinner. The location is quite central, pretty close to the Canada Line stop and the staff are very friendly. It’s a pretty small place, only has room for 10 people to sit at the same time but if good for take out as I saw multiple customers coming to pick up food. Ambience is lacking for sure but prices are cheap so one can’t have it all. I ordered the Butter Chicken roti as I was craving the spices of it but found it disappointing. The spices were not the same as other Indian places, that I suppose are most westernized. The portion size is quite large but the quality is lacking, as it was just chicken and potatoes and lacking herbal goodness such as bay leaves. I didn’t have room for dessert but probably won’t be back anytime soon.
