We just used a Groupon for this place which I bought a couple of months ago. I saw that they’ve signed up for the«Daily Groupon Now» deals, but can’t for the life of me figure out why. It was clear that they weren’t crazy that we used the one we bought before. The Asian guy was barely civil while the younger blond«chef»(cook/waiter) barely acknowledged us. The«tiger shrimp» and mango salsa thin pizza had the smallest«tiger» shrimp I’ve ever seen(more like salad shrimp) and there weren’t many of them anyway. The sauce didn’t reach to the edge of the pizza, leaving a 1.5″ dry crust all around. I’m sorry, I don’t think the bouillabase was made with fresh tomatoes at all; more like a bottled spaghetti sauce with 3 clams, 2 mussels, a 1−2″ piece each of salmon and cod. There’s no way they could possibly have charged $ 13 for it originally and stayed in business. Will H: at least you got water. We weren’t even offered a glass. One more thing: there’s no restroom. We were told to use Starbucks’ next door. Caveat emptor.

After reading the reviews, I was hoping for a hole in a wall type of establishment that offers honest good food. NOTATALL! quite a disappointment overall… menu is gimmicky. food tasted quite blend. also. went back a 2nd time and tried using the voucher for take out and they won’t honour it(the voucher clearly says valid for dine in and take out). Def not going back to this place!

No stars. Fish and chips were okay. Guy behind the counter was a graceless, ham-handed, hurtful, pig-ignorant RACIST, and we are so very sorry we ever«darkened» their door. Here’s what happened. The place is tiny. Two couples were seated, so when we walked in, there was one remaining table — a 3-top right near the cash register. As in, I could touch the counter from my seat. Guy behind the counter was noodling around, messing with pots and pans. Maybe cooking, not sure, but doing something. We waked in — a large red-head and a 6′ tall guy — into this tiny place, and behind-the-counter guy did not acknowledge us. He just kept on doing what he was doing. We sat down in a fairly noticeable fashion — pulled out chairs, took off coats, rustled around, discussed the menu — still no reaction. So I thought… maybe we have to go to the counter? I suggested same to my husband, who stood up, and was, well, at the counter. Still no reaction from behind-the-counter-guy. Finally, after a LONG beat, he turned and said, «Oh — I didn’t see you come in!» Another beat. «I think you are MC Hammer!» Another beat. «That’s a compliment.» Well, we should have left right then, but we didn’t. And the fish and chips were… meh. The cole slaw was old. The fries were okay. The two pieces of fish(one decent sized, the other frankly petite) were breaded with a sort of bland batter. And the fish was not perfectly fresh. It wasn’t OLD, it was just — not the sort of fresh that you notice. Oh — and we actually sort of weren’t allowed to only share a Dad’s root beer. Behind-the-counter racist guy pressured me into buying a soda. And did I mention the guy was a STONERACIST?

hmmm maybe i hit this place on a bad night. The ambiance is a catastrophe. They have no space to sit only four tables with uncomfortable chairs which is fine if it’s only carry out. The table we sat at was very small and the server was not attentive to clearing plates so we had to scrunch everything in to eat. The server was untrained and while the owner was kind to the customers it was not hard to hear him berate his server behind the register. In addition, the server did not wash his hands with soap, simply rinsed them and then wiped them on his pants. This seems very unsanitary to me. I do believe we simply just ordered the wrong food. We had the corn fritters which were alright but a bit greasy. The chicken wings were bland, greasy and on a bed of soggy sad fries. I will give it to them for nice size portions, they are large, however, if the food isn’t tasty and in fact bland do you really want lots of it? The lobster pizza was well so bland that we don’t even want to eat the left overs. There was no sauce and some mustard. While the write up look great and the pictures delectable it was really totally bland and hyped/misrepresented. Rethink this dish! The Crab was the best part sooo tender and tasty but a bit too bland for my husband. I think that if we had just ordered the crab we would have had a better review. So to finish it off the cans of beer were 5 dollars?! delivered with plastic cups. Were we in a restaurant or at a keg party?

I’ve been here a few times due to location and groupon deal. The first time we were treated really well and the food was good. I didn’t like the bright uncomfortable seating though it was not up to Robson standards at all. Had the lobster pizza dn mussels and frits. The pizza was ok but mussels were bland, big and gross. A far cry from mussels I’ve had. The second time I went I was told I had to buy bottled water while the other table was served free water. Why the double standard? I usually get treated better than average to not worse. IT was enough that I’ll never go back and the seafood and pizza are not killer but rather mediocre at best. I do hear the breakfast is good but they lost my business already…

Though the Owner was the Ex Executive Chef of the Cannery and does Seafood Best, I had their Beeakfast Buffet(all one can eat) for$ 7.95!!!Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, toast, coffee or tea!!! Best deal in town!! I would go early(10 to 2 pm-daily), as they were busy. My recomendation. It’s a steal!

This place is horrible, everything is horrible. Friendly owner? Yeap, sure, we’ve got offer from 2 groupons and wanted to use it, he said no, you can just use one per table. Fair enough if that’s the policy(without sense, as 2 different people coming separately will just get double deal), but the way he said it was rather rude. «You either pay or we can’t serve you» and he got back to watching tv. I was really hungry and looking forward to some nice sea food, so I’ve ignored it. Place look like a take-away with a little bit a touch, but it didn’t matter, I was there for food. I was expecting something like Chinese places in Sydney Fish Market, crowded and dirty, food on the plastic, but GOOD. Food was the biggest disappointment, Lobster was totally bland, «garlic butter» was just a melted salted butter, pasta was the cheapest no name spaghetti you can buy in supermarket, but my wife crab was total disaster, vegetables were fried not roasted like advertised, and carrot was with never peeled! «Rice pilaf» was overcooked white rice without any flavour, that would refuse to get into the pieces even with the use of the knife! Some people ordered pizza and it looked ok, but our dishes that supposed to be «OURSPECIALITY» were simply horrible! I simply don’t understand all the reviews, is the owner bad day, or are they all fake? Never been so disappointed with any restaurant in the world! And honestly without groupon deal this place is not even cheap! $ 18 for a half lobster, when you can get it for $ 21 in nice restaurant with sea food sauce, not just cheap spaghetti! Selection of drinks is also stunning, you can get soda or can of Stella Artois for $ 5, want something different? Out of luck, better for us, it saved our budget for this trip as the food doesn’t even deserve Victoria Bitter(truly the worst beer in the world) Not going back and advice against eating there, there are many better places in the area!

I hate to rain on a love parade. But Iet’s not sugarcoat it: this place wasn’t ALL that. Roasted Vegetables($ 5): Minimalist salad of underseasoned carrots & zucchini. $ 5 should buy more herb pesto than this! Shrimp & Corn Fritters w/garlic jalapeño dip($ 5): Dip — zippy & garlicky, stellar stuff! || Fritters — borderline burnt, tasty but evokes neither shrimp nor corn. Lobster Pizza w/mushrooms, tomato, fresh herbs & light mustard sauce($ 16): Lobster — stingy portions, bland. || Toppings — fish roe wins for texture, veggies for freshness. || Sauce — meh. Overall, the whole tasted just like the sum of its parts. Bouillabaise w/clams, mussels, prawns, cod & salmon($ 13): Seafood — perfectly cooked. || Saffron-tomato broth — rich flavour || Garlic bread — broth sponge. Or in my case, the consolation prize for an inadequate amount of seafood. Set-up: The 4-seat tables /chairs = wobbly to eat at /awkward to sit comfortably in. Service: Owner was not there initially, but when he did come in near the end of our meal, we were not acknowledged at all. I don’t expect VIP treatment but being ignored in such a small place is a bit rude. To boot, when we went up to pay, we were asked to recite what we ordered b/c they neglected to keep tabs. Really? Highlight: Yes, I hate cheese. No, I forgot to ask them to leave it off the pie. And yes, extreme hunger triumphed in the end. I devoured 2 slices without gagging! Jaws dropped, photos were taken, mind is still boggled. Bonus star for opening up my cheese-defiant palate. Lowlight: My friend & I both intended to use our TeamBuy coupons($ 10 for $ 20). Conditions specifically read: 1 per person. Yet the owner insisted we use 1 per table. Not impressed. But we were so over the meal at this pt, we didn’t pursue it.

Went in expecting(I guess a bit too much) good food and service after reading all the wonderful reviews. But… Ok, to be honest, everything was mediocre(even with a $ 10 for $ 20 Groupon) – I’m sorry to be the one saying it. We went in on a Saturday afternoon, famished, and ordered the bouillabaise, bbq duck pizza and shrimp/mango pizza. 1. Ambience: cozy little place, very hard to miss if you’re not looking for it. Thankfully, there was only one party when we went in so we(my bf and I) could sit at a large table for four. Also, unlike other pizza places there was no loud, blaring music in the background so my bf and I could actually have a conversation. That was worth a star. 2. Service: the guy was pretty nice, came to take the order after the right amount of time, nothing extravagantly friendly but no complaints here(he wasn’t the owner tho, I think he was an employee… Jake, or something). 3. Pace of preparation: we did have to wait a little longer than you typically would at other pizza places, seeing as how the guy was the one taking the orders, washing the dishes(according to his chitchat with a couple of fellows who came in shortly after we arrived and seemed to be his buddies), and making the pizza. We were in a slight hurry(i.e. had to leave in an hour) so became a bit antsy, but oh well, waited for what the Unilocalers called«good food.» 3. Bouillabaise: someone recommended we try this on Unilocal so we did. To be completely frank, it was a disappointment. The seafood was tasty – I’ll gladly admit that, but the sauce was too lukewarm and the garlic bread that accompanied it was almost completely burnt – we literally got tired of scraping all the burnt parts out that we had to resort to cutting out just the middle part and leaving a black, half-inch crust behind. Tip: there is a dish called«linguini soul» at a similar place called Jimoco in Coquitlam. I’d recommend that over the bouillabaise here – sizzling and more flavourful for sure. 4. Mango/shrimp pizza: another huge disappointment. We tasted the shrimp all right, but where’s the mango? There was no mango! We couldn’t taste any mango! Frankly, chains like Boston Pizza could have done better… 5. Bbq duck pizza: ok, this was pretty good, but still, I don’t know what happened, and whether it was just the day we visited or us or whatever, but most of the duck toppings were burnt. At first I thought it was supposed to be that colour, but no, they were burnt. Yes, flavourful, and probably what earned this joint the second star, but still not quite a wham-bammer. One more thing, the server was so caught up in a discussion with his buddies that it almost seemed rude for us to interrupt him and ask for a doggie bag =’( Definitely recommend checking this place out, but I wouldn’t necessarily come back unless I absolutely had to.

Ohmygosh I cannot say enough nice things about this place. The place is small and the furniture is a bit classy for a pizza joint, but the food is Ah-maze-ing. Yes, with a capital A. Husband and I walked in around 7:30pm on a weeknight, and stayed until almost closing time. The place is quiet, it doesn’t blare loud music or turn the TV up so we can actually hear ourselves talking. Several people came in with take-out orders for pizzas while we were sitting there, so the chef and one server were quite busy during the dinner rush — which was fine for us, we were still trying to figure out what to order! The menu is small, with the main offerings being specialty pizzas, fish & chips, and(advertised on our table and by the server) the bouillabaisse. If you’re going for the first time, someone must try this bouillabaisse. It is Heaven in a bowl. The seafood is fresh and flavourful, and for $ 13, it was by far the best deal there. We also ordered the duck pizza, which was fantastic! For $ 10! What! That meal totally filled us up. The quality for the price is unbeatable! As we were paying(and the last two people in the restaurant), we chatted with the owner. Regis is SUPER friendly, and really nice, and has a wealth of experience in the restaurant industry that I felt completely at awe to meet him. Some credentials under his belt include the Cannery, the Fish House at Stanley Park, and Tribeca. Come on! How can you not come here after hearing about all of those places?! Killer Seafood and Pizza has only been open since June 2011, but it’s becoming a fast favourite among the downtown peeps, and Regis tells me that business is going well. I really hope he stays — his model is solid: offer great food at reasonable prices, and you’ll develop a dedicated group of customers who rely on you for quality. I can’t wait to come back here and try their other pizzas. And if you haven’t been, I highly suggest you go. You won’t regret it!

I bought a Groupon Now deal($ 10 for $ 20) after reading the solid reviews here. It really was better than I imagined, and I hope this business — only 7 months in – thrives. It’s a small little place so don’t miss it as you walk by! My friend and I split two pizzas, which was WAY more than enough(the portions are huge), but we wanted to try different kinds. We got the BBQ duck and the shrimp/mango. The BBQ duck was phenomenal. I’m pretty sure I made loud, weird noises of approval as soon as I took the first bite. I never had hoisin sauce before. If I had to explain it, I would call it a really rich soy sauce. But the flavor wasn’t overpowering; it had just enough to leave you wanting more. The shrimp/mango pizza was a bit more standard. The mango definitely gives it the flavor. We also shared a basket of the yam fries, which came with chipotle mayo. Needless to say, we had a TON of leftovers. The owner was the only one working that day, so he waited on us AND made our pizzas relatively fast, which impressed me. He was really friendly and attentive, and even asked what channel we wanted the TV on(there’s an HDTV). I’d highly, highly recommend you check this place out! The quality of the pizza is very high, and you definitely get your money’s worth. They also have all-you-can-eat breakfast, which I want to try next, along with the smoked salmon/cream cheese pizza.

I came here on a Groupon deal, $ 10 for $ 20, and will come again and bring my friends in the near future. We ordered a pizza and salmon fish and chips. Both were delicious, and the portions were decent, especially for the $ 10 Chicken Pesto pizza. It was a friday night, and 4⁄5 of the tables were taken once we seated. There were only 2 ppl working. The owner was very pleasant and polite, without being pushy and constantly interrupting your conversations kind of inviting. Both men working in the restaurant were cooks and servers, which made it feel like a small intimate type of establishment. We casually chatted with the two gentlemen working, and they mentioned they’ve been opened for 7 months now. I hope this business stays in the neighbourhood for a long time. As we were leaving, they were very gracious and introduced a few other services they offer, such as delivery and the Breakfast buffet for $ 7.99. Sounds yum.

Great pizza in the West End, probably the best in the area, although I have yet to try«Nook». Some real nice designer pizzas, from the Hoisin Duck, to the Smoked Chicken Pesto. What’s even better is the pricing, $ 9-$ 12 per pizza(one size only which seems like a medium). The pizzas are high quality, as are their scrum-diddly-umptious corn fritter appetizers(Ha, I said diddly). I’d recommend for takeaway, but the tables and set-up are pretty good. They also show Canucks games too on their flat screen, not sure if it is HD or not. The service is fast and friendly and the owner has recently done some Groupon and related site deals which is super sweet for me, as I live around the corner and frequent the place. Senior and student discounts too.

Ever since I have discovered this hidden gem of a restaurant, I have been going there almost every single day. The service there makes you feel like you’ve walked into a family restaurant owned by your family. Their pizza is, to my taste, better than any other I have tried in the west end or anywhere else in Vancouver for that matter. Their seafood is absolutely amazing, and last, but not least, their prices are simply the best for the quality of food that you get.

I found this establishment just from walking around the West End, and from all the walking I had done earlier that day, decided I wanted a bite to eat that featured locally-sourced ingredients – at least it was my hope that such ingredients were used here. Cute little place, really small, very mod in décor with a very open kitchen so you could see everything being prepared very easily. So I had an order of fish and chips. The price and portions were pretty average, even for that part of the city. Sadly, the timeliness of the service was a bit a miss, and in this, I somehow get the impression the restaurant hasn’t been open that long, albeit there seemed to be no easily discoverable evidence to support this. I sat and sat, waiting to catch the wait staff’s attention so I could take care of my bill. And I could have used a bit more flavor in the dish, whether it be an adjustment to the batter or tartar sauce. However, with the great location and cool décor, this place does have potential, and I would most certainly come back to check out other items on the menu.
