Lonetree Kitchens and Baths

Wow! What a step up over the common Vancouver home and bathroom renovation company! Where to even begin, the owner came and met us in the showroom, we gave him some information on what we were looking for and he went to get some inspiration, leaving us to browse the showroom. The showroom is AMAZING. Brand new space with every style from ultra modern to classic to the more outlandish space. Everything inside is done with details normally reserved for a show home.
All of the designers we worked with were very knowledgeable, personable and above all — they actually listened to our wants and wishes. We were never pressured to go above our budget and the project was done on time and with so little nuisance we barely even knew they were there.
We LOVE our new space and we will be coming back soon for another one!

Very pricey. Showroom is nice but nothing wowed us enough to bust our budget. Owner was pleasant but clearly only looking for bigger fish.

I have been dying to write this review because writing it means that our kitchen renovations are done! Last summer we were done with our old, falling apart kitchen so we walked up Arbutus and met Nicholas Grigg. We made an appointment for him to come and see our place the next week. We had a budget in mind but had no idea what that would get us. Nick came over, took measurements, talked about our taste and what we were hoping for. He told us that he could redo our kitchen within our budget but if we were able to afford more he could transform our place. He gave us some time to think about it while he drew up the designs. We had thought about shopping around but everything about Nick instilled confidence in us.
A couple of weeks later the designs were ready and as soon as I saw them I was excited. We knew we were going to blow the wad and get something really wonderful. At the store we picked out our counters, cupboard materials, sink, faucet and tiles for the backsplash. Nick gave us great suggestions when we weren’t sure and encouraged us to go with our ideas when we were. He checked with someone who lived nearby whose place he’d renovated and we went over there to see the work that had been done for extra assurance. Her place was gorgeous: Our excitement was mounting!
We took home several different samples to decide in the lighting of our home which ones were best for us. Once we’d made our decisions the work started. We put down a deposit and Nick was careful to make sure that it covered something that would get us a receipt to put towards the home renovation tax credit.
He told us it would take six weeks to complete the work — all our friends said «Count on it being eight then.» Guess how many weeks it took? SIX! Every step of the way Nick was there to help us. When we decided to get all new appliances he recommended Sean at Trail Appliances as they’d worked together. When it came to getting the trim fit for the under counter microwave there was some confusion and Nick called Sean and cleared it up. When Mike’s Flooring came to do the floors Nick showed up (unbeknownst to me) and made sure everything was going smoothly. When they took out the boxes that heat our heating pipes that I thought they were going to cover it turned out that Nick had made plans to have new wood boxes made. (BTW — Nick was quite impressed at the speed with which the flooring got laid and the final look of it.) When we decided we wanted new lighting for the dining room Nick suggested we check Robinson Lighting and had his electricians install it. Nick called us when he found a good sale on a top of the line hood fan. When he found out we had the option for a garburator he called and said he could get us a top of the line one for what we’d pay for a lesser quality. He replaced our old outlet covers with new stainless steel ones that look sharp. He even went and found us a new garbage that fit under the counter and installed it along with a unit that holds our dish soap, etc.
All of the trade people that he works with have had long-​standing business relationships with Lonetree and are consummate professionals. Dust and dirt were kept to a minimum and we always had space that we could still function enough to prepare some kind of meals. It’s actually amazing what you can cook with a microwave, crock pot and BBQ!
When I emailed Nick the other day to find out about settling up our bill he emailed back to say the inspector has to come next week and that it looks like we’re going to come in a little under budget! Now that was something I wasn’t expecting to hear. The one thing about renovating part of your place is you realise the rest needs doing. Well you know who I’m going to call when we are ready to do our bathrooms next year!
