This place has been around for some time now. As a customer, you walk by and the aroma of chicken halal in the air drifts til the other side of the street. Once you walk in through the door, youll be greeted with pleasant smiles that invites you to their hot food. Plus with the chicken cooking upright on a squier. Many variety of selections as well with vegetarian option which is Falefel. They make this from scratch in the kitchen itself. Seating area plus connected to next door. They also serve beer. Recommended to other to try, for a different taste of lebonese.

Great little hole in the wall. I’ve had many different items off the menu. Tonight I tried something new for me, #6 — veg platter with eggplant, potato, dolmate, tabouli, hummus, and pita. Most of the plates are $ 9.50(tax included) and well worth it. In the summer I love to grab a meal to go and head to the park near by. The service is great and fast, food is excellent(I scarfed my meal down so fast!). I think there is a connecting room next door that you can order beer and such. As I was leaving, I heard an order being placed for the balsamic chicken salad. That’s what I am trying next time, with a beer!

Chicken shawarma plate is the most amazing thing ever. The chicken is full of flavour, the salad is always fresh, no wilted lettuce or soggy tomatoes. Hate onions so I don’t go for the tabbouleh, but the hummus is tasty as heck. I rarely deviate from my usual but I’ve had the falafel plate a few times, and it’s pretty good. Many years I have been a regular at this place; I used to live a 30 second walk away until I moved across the city. I enjoy this place so much I still make the special trip two or three times a month or whenever I’m in the area and need to feed. The owner and his staff are super friendly, and the place is clean and welcoming. Prices are very reasonable and there is good beer on tap. And the shawarma is the best. Did I mention the shawarma?

Holy heck, Mitra. When I went in a customer told me everything here is good, and after one meal I don’t doubt it. What I didn’t realize was he was actually WARNING me I might never be able to eat anywhere else. The best falafels and tabouli I’ve EVER had. My only complaint was that there wasn’t enough(for my mouth at least, my stomach is sure tapped out). I want my food on a bed of that sweet tabouli next time. Oh yeah, I’ll be back.

I ordered the beef shwarma plate. It appears to be processed beef or tongue that they use. Looked like fried spam and tasted like fried shoe leather. guess I’ve been spoiled with the quality meets at Tibisti Grill on Victoria Drive. Order chicken if you eat here. Like the fact the he serves it with tabbouleh which is hard to find at middle eastern restaurants in Vancouver. Unfortunately I give him one star as when he asked how my beef was and I politely said not very good he didn’t offer to do anything about it. i.e. give me some chicken instead. Rice and hummus accompaniments are flavourful though

given the positive rating, I decided to try this place today. Ordered beef/lamb shawarmas combo#2 to go — overall very tasty and good. Bit too much mayo on top. what really missing is the ingredient — i mean authentic restaurant cooked beef and lamb, why ??? they use processed sliced meat. did I just ordered from a sandwich shop ? well I did see a truck delivering halal meat at the back. hum, may be this is just for chicken dishes !?! otherwise I would give it 4−¼ stars

This is one of my go to places around the Main St. area. They have one of the best chicken Shawarmas in the city. The prices are very reasonable, portions are generous, and the plate comes with dill rice, tabouli, humus, and salad. The owner is friendly, and the place is nice and clean. Overall highly recommended.

Mitra Canteen is probably one of the most underrated sketchy looking places on Main. It took me almost two years of living in the hood before I stepped in and let it change my life. It’s not the cleanest, it doesn’t smell the best, and the décor is laughably terrible. But it’s so delicious and so filling and so easy. I always get the chicken shwarma wrap and sometimes hummus. The chicken is so flavourful and juicy, and the lettuce is always crisp and fresh that I can almost lie to myself that it’s super healthy(almost)!

The staff was friendly and the food was pretty good. We had the lamb shawarma. The price was good for the portion and my daughter really liked the rice and salad. I would definitely go back and try something else.

Best shawarma in town! One thing distinguishes Mitra from other shawarma places — freshness. Everything at Mitra tastes fresh. The chicken is juicy and tasty. The lettuce and veg they use is crisp and sweet. The pita is soft, like they’re suppose to be. When a place uses fresh, good ingredients to start, you can’t go wrong. I’m a regular at Mitra and the staff know my order by heart. Love this place!

Ok. This is going to be that gushy crazy review that I usually dislike. Full of absolute statements and happy faces!!! But. this. place. .theBEST. though! :) Two shawarma plates, a pitcher of delicious craft beer all for 30ish dollars? With a patio to boot? DROOL. I had the lamb/beef plate and hubs had chicken. The salad and dressing were delish, the dilled rice and sauce on the meat? tasty, fresh, goodness. Portions? too much! Just enough for some leftover lunch tomorrow. Service was fast, friendly, no complaints. :) Come here! you won’t regret it.

Decent shawarma/falafel place on Main, but I prefer the ones on Davie better. Little hole in the wall. Cash or debit only. Generally friendly staff but not much service once you sit down, especially for water top ups. The food itself was ok to good. The hummus was a bit bland and hubby was disappointed that it didn’t actually come with the small salad like on the menu pic. The shawarma itself was fresh but slightly under filled. I had the stew special which was huge and came with rice, pita and salad… it was quite tasty and fresh, but the stew was a little greasy. Prices were reasonable. Most items are around $ 9 – 10. This would meet a craving if I’m in the area, but I’d personally stick with my favorites downtown on Davie if I want this kind of food and atmosphere.

Food was great. Service was even better. Had the shawarma platter with lamb and beef, which was one meat item. The meat was ok. But the sides were amazing. I’ll would order it with chicken next time.

Mitra Canteen met expectations. I came to town craving an authentic, flavour packed Schwarma wrap and due to logistics, I didn’t want to venture out to my preferred Schwarma location. I had the lamb/beef wrap and while the flavour was there, the size of it was rather disappointing for the price. I’m more accustom to fillings falling out every bite but this was the cleanest Schwarma experience I’ve had. I like this place because there was ample seating. I’ll likely go back to my regular location next time or order the Schwarma plate because it looked delicious and for $ 2 more, it was almost two meals in one.

There seems to be a shortage of shawarma places outside of the downtown area. We went to Mitra with a «that’ll do» attitude and we were pleasantly surprised. The lamb & beef shawarma wrap was fresh and delicious. Portion was just right. For $ 2 more, you can get the shawarma plate. And from what I saw, the portion was huge. There is extra seating in the adjoining space that looks at first to be belonging a different establishment, but it is part of Mitra.
