Historique

Fondé en 2002.

Open Ocean Outriggers was founded in early 2002 when outrigger builder Dee Van Winkle’s mold for the Sea Lion came up for sale in California.

The mold was purchased, shipped to Vancouver and redesigned and shaped into the first new OC-​1 design to be manufactured in Canada.

today we offer Canadian watermen and water women the tools and toys to enhance their ocean experience.

Ross began paddling in 1994 with the HSBC dragon boat team. As a cross training tool, their coach put them in outrigger canoes and he was hooked. hundreds of races and channel crossings later, Ross continues to help new and experienced watermen and women maximize their own «ocean experience» with paddles and accessories. These days, you’ll likely find Ross on an SUP board or paddling with his newest club, Kits Canoe and Surf Club of Vancouver.
