Maybe this place has changed owners since the previous reviewers, but I stuck my head in at 6PM, sign said they close at 7. Some dude was laying out on a couch? And was all«we’re closed». I said«Ok, no worries, do you guys sell hydrometers?» I was met with another short«no». Wicked customer service lol. I’d go anywhere but here.

My fiancé and I were more than satisfied with our experience at Purple Castle. We were looking for a beautiful wedding souvenir/present for our guests and thought a nice bottle of wine will be perfect. We dealt with William from day one and it has been a very pleasant experience — language was definitely not a barrier with him. However, when we came to bottle the wines today, a couple of the assistants were not as fluent in English as Will. They were most helpful, patient and nice — one of them even gave me a free apple wine because I was curious about it. :) They checked with us very often to ensure that we were doing good and asked if we had any questions. I will highly recommend this place — whether you are a first time or experienced U-brewer. I’m sure our guests will be very happy with our gifts for them. Salute! Kanpai! Salud! Prost! Wen Lie! Cheers! :)

I was satisfied with my experience at Purple Castle the first time I went to place my order, and I was equally as satisfied with my second visit when I went to bottle my wine. Admittedly, there is a bit of a language barrier as many of their employees are not completely fluent in English, but everyone I spoke to was very kind, helpful, and patient. Bottling was the most work involved in the U-brew wine process, and even that was relatively easy, especially working in a two-person team. When all was said and done, my alcohol-brewing accomplice and I drove away with 60 bottles of our very own wine. After waiting out the three week(minimum) gestation period and popping a bottle, I have to say, I’m rather impressed with the finished product. It’s not great, but for a table wine, it’s totally acceptable, especially considering that we only ended up paying a couple of dollars per bottle. In fact, I’ve had markedly worse wines from more reputable sources. Our Cabernet Sauvignon and our Merlot don’t taste noticeably different from each other, but both are decent and have surpassed expectations of snobbier wine-quaffers than I. All in all I’m pretty happy with my first U-brew experience. Cheers to that!
