Description

Spécialités

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor providing individual counselling in Vancouver, BC.

Some of the areas that I provide counselling in are:

–depression and anxiety issues

–managing stress around major life changes, losses

–addictions issues, substances, gambling, internet use

–religious or spiritual issues, including making a transition out of a major religion

–challenges related to being an introvert or highly sensitive person

Because our lives and issues are complex, you may find that you do not «fit» into a particular category. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t seek help! Counselling can be beneficial for any life challenge that you may be facing.

Historique

Fondé en 2011.

I made the transition to owning my own counselling practice after 10 years working in community agencies. I worked in a variety of areas including addictions, (substance use and gambling), depression/anxiety issues, grief and loss issues, and anger management.

In fact I had come to a point of being burnt out in my work, and took some time off to regroup and decide how I wanted to proceed. I came to realize that I truly loved working as a therapist, but needed a different structure for my work life, and so I started Pyxis Counselling Services.

«Pyxis» is a constellation, and the word means «a mariner’s compass». I thought this was an apt metaphor for life, that we are all trying to find our way. My work as a therapist (and the tagline for my business) is «Helping You Navigate Life».

Gérant de commerce

I have a Master’s degree in Counselling and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

I bring over 14 years of experience as a therapist in a variety of community settings, as well as my own life experiences and challenges, to the work that I do.

My work as a therapist is very much a part of who I am as a person, and I bring a compassionate, peaceful, genuine, practical approach to the sessions I have with clients.

I understand that it takes courage to pursue seeing a counsellor, and my goal is to create an environment that is welcoming, safe, and inclusive.
