their offerings for this year’s hot chocolate festival (‘peach perfect’ and ‘sourpuss’) are both better than the ‘onyx’ I had at Bel Café:
slightly cheaper, larger portion, more complex flavours and even a little warmer than Bel.
My wife tried the
’perfect peach’ was a white chocolate/​peach creation that tastes similar to the warm hug of a london fog; accompanied by a macaron (this is a great value, as the macaron itself retails at 2.25, and is a handcrafted work of art),
while I had the ‘soupuss’, offering the hot chocolate richness I look for in a hot chocolate, with a hint of burnt orange flavour. The drawback here is that too much chocolate lingers at the bottom of the cup– outside of that, it was well worth the experience
and I saw my wife noting the cakes.

Adorable modern white on white pearl French teahouse. Very much like my dreams of having tea and cookies with my european grandmother… I felt pretty out of place in jeans and a knit hat… but white gloves would have been perfect.
We tried a smörgåsbord of different macaroons, and the results were hit and miss. The brie and jam flavour was unusually terrific, trapped in that in between world of savoury and sweet. The peach was also a huge hit, it had a wonderfully peach gel and custard like taste, almost like a peach melba which went perfectly with their peach white hot chocolate which was subtle but fantastic. Hard to do, given white chocolates challenging lumpy and viscous nature.
The other flavours: bananas foster, chai, London fog etc were just alright. The tamarind coconut truffle that came with our tamarind dark hot chocolate was a bit odd, but so was the hot chocolate. First we could not taste the tamarind, but after stirring it up more, the tamarind swirl on top coagulated the hot chocolate into a clumpy sour mess. Too bad… I loved the idea of tamarind and dark hot chocolate.
I would definately come again on a dreamy rainy Vancouver day and get a pot of tea and some macaroons and pull out a book. Nice. Secret garden, anyone?

I found the afternoon tea here a little disappointing given the price and Soirette’s reputation. The pastries were rather small and nothing was incredibly memorable. It came with only one macaron, which seems stingy considering the place specializes in macarons. The space is tiny and not very comfortable if you have more than 2 in your party. The tea was rather weak as well.

I got NY cheese cake and pannacotta for Christmas Eve.
Looks very nice, high quality and beautiful.
The NY cheese cake was little sweet and complicated taste because there are many ingredients in it. I do like simple taste of NY cheese cake such as plan or strawberry.
I bought macaron many times and love it.

I had the green tea red bean mousse cake and a cappuccino.
Staff was friendly but I didn’t get served right away and it was not busy at all.
After I ordered, the lady totally forgot about my cappuccino and I was had 40m to sio and eat everything. It took probably close to 15m and still no cappuccino and I had to wave her down and ask her about it. I don’t mind… but I was in a hurry so half my time was gone. so I literally had to gulp my cappuccino down I didn’t bother finishing it actually.
As for the cake, it looked really pretty and nice, taste is okay.
Would I go back? Only on special occasions. Maybe…

I don’t go out of my way to purchase macarons often but if I were to recommend a joint for macarons in Vancouver, Soirette would be a top contender. The best part of the delicacy is the variety of flavours, with at least 20 colourful kinds displayed in their case. Being a tea junkie, my favourites were Earl Grey Casis and Matcha but Caffe Mocha and Pistachio did not disappoint either. They embraced a perfect unison of flavouring and sweetness. The cookie texture beneath the crust was soft and chewy, and complimented by a good ratio of cream filling. Macarons are no doubt their speciality, and I grab a box for myself or as a gift from time to time. I don’t know how they do it but it keeps well in the fridge and stay good up to 2 – 3 days.
I revisited Soirette a few months later to try their cakes. We shared a Passionfruit Cassis mousse-​like cake, and a flourless Chocolate Torte with chocolate ganache. I personally preferred the Passionfruit Cassis as it was fruity and light in texture. It was topped with a mini vanilla macaron which seemed fitting. The Chocolate Torte was moist and had a good mouthfeel but it was the chocolate ganache that put us off. Unfortunately, the chocolate ganache was split when it was served to us so there was a layer of buttery liquid floating on top of the chocolate component. We tried to stir the mixture together using our fork but the oily mixture wouldn’t blend into the chocolate. Sad to say, this was a miss.
During my most recent visit, we tried a box of 4 mini macaron mooncakes from Soirette, an annual Mid-​Autumn Festival special. The flavours this year were Espresso White Chocolate, Tiramisu Matcha, Early Grey, and Milk Tea Mocha. The mooncake skin was bland in flavour and a little too floury for my liking while the filling was pastey. Only the Espresso White Chocolate and the Mocha of the Milk Tea Mocha flavouring came through. What should’ve been the highlight of the mooncake, the macaron centre, was easily covered by the other elements of the mooncakes. Sadly, the macaron mooncakes did not live up to our expectations or to the steep $ 40 price point.
I do like Soirette but now I know to stick with their macarons to avoid any further disappointment.

Their macarons are excellent, among my favourite in Vancouver. Wonderful texture and flavour.
This is one of the most interesting places that participates during the annual Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival. In the 2014 festival they offered a hot chocolate flavoured with cedar – yes, cedar! – that my friends and husband and I still talk about, over a year later! So distinctive and delicious! Their flavours during the 2015 festival were interesting again this year – sweet potato and yam marshmallow – but did not live up the height of the cedar chocolate from the year before.
Now that my husband works in the area, I look forward to visiting Soirette with more frequency and drinking their tea!

I’ve been here many times. I’ve even placed an order via email since I don’t live close to Vancouver. The location is great for me since I travel through lions gate bridge a lot and it’s only a few blocks from Stanley park.
The biggest thing about this cute little place is the design! It’s elegant, clean, bright, feminine, classy and very eye pleasing. It’s a beautiful and if you need to impress your feminine, high class boss, take them here!
They have a lot of rose water and very feminine floral desserts. Their macaroons are always fresh and never really stale. I’m not such a big lover of their desserts, many look better than they taste — the rose water desserts often have a very overwhelming taste of Rose water, it’s not something I enjoy.
It’s a great place to show off on Instagram or a blog since everything is very appealing. From décor to food.

«Meh» macarons at «wow» prices.
The shells were soft and lacking in texture and taste, though they looked great.
Fillings were better — but only marginally so. Flavourful but not as creamy as I have come to expect.
Worst though is the size/​price point. Expensive and small makes for a bad combination.
Packaging was lovely and better than almost anywhere I’ve been.
Bottom line: these are the gold digger who looks great but has no substance.

Beautiful delicate macaroons! The café is so cute, I would love to take my mother or girlfriends here for afternoon tea.

Comparable to Ladurée macarons. No joke. Yummy fresh flavours and interesting selection. Better than some other local macarons that I have tried.
Would totally recommend the sweets to friends and fam and will hit up this location to try the other options on the menu in order to better gage this joint!

I really wanted to like this place because it looks so pretty and their desserts look so pretty but it doesn’t deserve my business.
The macaron sizes are HALF the size of the macarons at Sweet Bake Shop yet Soirette charges almost double the price!!! There’s a reason why you can walk into Soirette just before closing and they still have a wide variety of flavours and desserts to choose from, stale is right. If you go to Sweet Bake Shop their products get sold out daily and you can see them baking fresh ones throughout the day. Lastly, every time I have visited Soirette the staff have been rude, customer service goes a long way. I will not be wasting my money here anymore.

What a classy pretty little dessert spot in coal Harbour! Very nice and creative selection of macaroons (hibiscus, matcha, lavender… etc.) Quality is comparable to Thierry, definitely recommend for macaroon lovers! Their lavender tea latte is also very tasty, rich in lavender scent. No water fillers, creamy just the way I like it to be =)

Hands down the best damn macarons I’ve ever had! My husband and I travel frequently and we love the macarons here over Paris! The flavours taste exactly as they should, and the boutique style Café is very cute! They also have high tea which is amazing because we LOVE going to high tea and didn’t know they offered this service here.
The price range is decent for Vancouver but probably average range. I can’t comment on how much macarons are elsewhere because we usually HATE macarons but thanks to Soirette we became macaron lovers (only at this location)
Note to all the brides out there they do wedding cakes as well! Highly recommend them for weddings the décor looks so sweet on all their treats and the cakes I’ve tried this far are amazing

I didn’t think I liked macarons before today. I was meeting a couple of friends for tea and treats, and was looking forward to something other than our usual coffee spots (though delicious in their own right). I ordered the Harbour black tea, and two macarons — I was hungry, and decided to give macarons (yet another) try with my first visit here. I got Banana Fosters and Crème Brûlée flavours — SO AMAZING! Seriously, after at least 3 separate attempts to get on board this food trend unsuccessfully, I have found my place! The staff were friendly and kind, letting us sit for hours over pots of delicious tea (no sugar or milk required!) in a cute venue. It’s not cheap ($ 2 something per macaron), but really nice for an afternoon tea. They also do a high tea on weekends! Added that to my «must try» list!

While better known for its macarons and desserts, I came to Soirette and enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea experience a few weeks ago.
It was a nice change to have some non-​sandwich savory items; a spinach and cheese gourgiere, a pulled pork pastry puff, and a small cup of tomato bisque were all on the menu, which I understand changes seasonally. The scones came with jam and brandied butter, which complimented the scones so well that I didn’t even miss the clotted cream, and in addition to the desserts, you got to choose one macaron from their many flavours.
The food and service were fantastic, but my only complaint was that, for $ 36/​person, the portions were too small — how often do you leave afternoon tea not feeling full? Especially considering how delicious the savory items were, it would have been icing on the cake to have had more than a bite-​sized portion of each. Nonetheless, I will definitely come back for afternoon tea if only to see what they have in store for their other seasonal menus.
Note that the place is tiny (it’s a bakery first and foremost, so there aren’t too many tables or space to walk around), so seatings for afternoon tea are limited to 1.5 hours. Thankfully we went on a non-​busy day, and they were fine with us lingering well beyond our time limit as there weren’t any other tables waiting. We also had the opportunity to chat to a fellow who is apparently a regular customer there — it was nice to see how the staff all recognized him, and knew exactly what his order was.

What a joyful experience!
FOOD: Macrons lovers will adore this little shop! So many flavors to choose from. They are tiny though and for $ 2 each they better be worth it! When you order tea, they put it in a pot and when you’re done, they’ll add more hot water so it’s almost like unlimited tea! It’s pretty awesome =)
SERVICE: Super friendly lady helping us! Even when another party arrived and was waiting for us, she did not make us feel rushed at all. She was patient and let us smell the teas so we could make our selection. Eventually someone in the back came out and helped the other group so I didn’t feel as bad making them wait.
PRESENTATION: I love how they plate their tea and macrons!
LOCATION: I’m not familiar with the area but it was not hard to find. We GPS the area and was able to find parking on the street next to the store. It is also close to the park so if you at the park, you can walk!
WOULD I COME BACK: If i’m in town, i’ll love to stop by for a cup of tea =)
ADVICE: Save some time in your day to sit down and relax!

Sorry Soirette, I have to take away a few stars for my most recent visits. I came for a box of 12 and your rocher (chocolate hazelnut) macarons were stale — overly chewy, hard, and ick. When I mentioned it two days later (when I came again for a box of 12), your employee insisted there was «no way» they they could have been stale and they had simply been «frozen» and I should have allowed them to thaw before I ate them. First of all, who gives customers frozen macarons? And second, do you think that I don’t know the difference between frozen and stale? Third, macarons are $ 2 each, and it’s hard enough to derive $ 2 worth of pleasure from a tiny macaron even when it’s fresh.
They also no longer give a discount for reusing your old macaron box. The girl behind the counter said she had «never heard of that before» though I know that they had it just a year or so ago.
I still love the white truffle and the passion fruit macarons though. And the black tea with lemon is pretty awesome too.
