I only gave 10% for tip because I didn’t have any extra change and the service was to slow so we didn’t want to wait for the waitress to break my twenty. When she looked at the tip, she rolled her eyes, she noticed I was looking and she rolled her eyes again. The food was ok, the ambience was just fine, but the attitude, it was really disrespectful, I felt bad. I usually like to give second chances to places that I don’t like before reviewing, but this time I really don’t feel like going back.

Went to have a few pitchers of beers and some caesars(we go to a different place every weekend to try out), the caesars were great, the pitcher of beer was ice cold but we were given some glasses that were kind of white, we originally taught they were giving us chilled glasses for the beer but then we grabbed them and they were not chilled. We then scraped at the gunk that was stuck on the glass with our finger nail and were able to take a bit off. When we asked the waitress for different glasses she claimed that nothing was wrong with these glasses and she could not replace them. We finished our drinks(only because we knew we would have to pay for them), paid the bill and went next door to Cavo to finish our night and have quite a bit more drinks. I really do not think I would ever want to return to Speakeasy on Granville.

We needed a drink after a long flight and this place did the drink. I had a Molson, a good conversation with the bartender, and just hung out a while. It was pretty dead but that’s sort of what we wanted. Nothing special but not a bad spot to grab a beer.

Been here twice and both times pretty dismal. The first time service was slow even though we were the only people in the bar/restaurant. The second time I went just for one drink and to watch a soccer game mid day, only 3 other guests and I was asked by the staff to order more or leave as they said one drink isn’t enough. I felt that’s pretty bad to be asked that, like would you rather someone buy one drink or not come in at all? Usually I would hit up red card for sports however they don’t open until 12. Not recommended.

Breakfast food was ok, nothing special. Server was kinda slow and unorganized. Took forever to get bill and pay. Seemed to have lots of space for larger groups though. I might go back if I had a large group

Service is not that good. My drink has been empty for 10 minutes and the waitress has not visited us lol

Was seated quickly but after we were given drinks and finished our waitress was no where to be found. When we did see her and waved she completely ignored us. Not a great start to the night, service was poor

Total shithole with the worst bar ‘design’ ever. I think the owners are on crack. They have another location on Broadway that has to be the grimmest, darkest and most uninviting place i’ve ever seen. And just looking at the pictures of their food on Unilocal should tell you to stay away– nothing screams ‘CHEAPCRAP” and no care, or talent, in the kitchen or ownership like these photos do. The food looks worse than a PNE takeout stand. If they weren’t on Granville, bottom-feeding off drunk idiots who couldn’t get in anywhere else, they would totally fail. Enough said.

Can someone explain to me that at this bar with loud music and mediocre drinks and plenty of girls, I CAN’T get up from my table and go talk to other people and socialize. So I saw there Saturday with my friend and we were at a table and we each had drinks. I wanted to go talk to some people at another table so I got up and started walking and a server yelled at me, «hey sir what are you doing?» I said«I’m going to talk to those girls over there.» «You can’t do that. You have to stay at your table» I felt like I was grounded and had to stay put at my table. By the way, I wasn’t walking towards the exit door I was walking away and towards the back. So it didn’t look like I was trying to ditch. I’m sorry I spent $ 40 here. You guys get 2 stars. I’d give one star but your server Lucy who we talked to for a little bit was super nice and welcoming. She wasn’t my server but she came to my friend and I and asked how we were and chatted with us for a little bit. Give her a promotion or ask her to get a job somewhere she’s better off at.

Service was good here unfortunately the food was awful! I ordered the blackened salmon, the salmon was poor quality and very dry, the«mashed“potatoes were lumpy. It was the kind of food I would expect in a nursing home not a busy restaurant on Granville!

Would not recommend. The server forgot our order so our food was an hour later. The ribs we ordered were very bad quality, super chewy and fatty. The«seasoned vegetables» consisted of one massive chunk of broccoli and the side of mash potatoes tasted awful. Generally a terrible meal — do not eat here!

I am sad this place got such bad reviews. My hubby and I frequent the best to the worst of places… 5 stars to 1 star, and I have to say that Autumn was the best bartender we’ve come across in a LONG time and we will actually come back specifically because of her warm and welcoming friendly and gentle hospitality. Just watch your bar total… You may get charged a bit you weren’t expecting… Don’t get too drunk. We’ll still come back, simply for August.

The food is terrible, the service is impersonal and cold but quick and the drinks are cheap. It’s the typical experience one has in a bar that caters mostly to a transient customer base. They don’t expect to see you again and it shows. One star for the cheap happy hour drink specials and one star for the speedy service. And that’s being extremely generous.

A decent enough sports bar to grab a few beers, but inexplicably horrible on the food front — especially considering the market positioning of the bar(sad times when you can’t compete with the food menu of Granville St sports bars!). I had a burger, which to be fair, undoubtably had a handmade patty as it resembled a tennis ball or giant meatball rather than a burger. The meat was fine, but you could hardly put the thing in between the bun, where it sat oddly isolated in the middle. Very strange choice by the kitchen. The bun was also super cheap(7⁄11 standard) and onions raw rather than caramelised as stated on the menu. My girlfriends chicken fajitas hilariously came out sans chicken! Not a great food experience. Be warned!

So far I’ve tried the Prohibition burger and found it was pretty awesome. This is closest place to watch the UFC in the core of the Granville entertainment district. $ 10 cover to pay for the UFC. The Russian burger is really good, but messy. The sauce they use is just slathed on. But, the mushrooms do make this one tasty treat if you don’t mind the slob of a mess trying to eat it.(I’d ask for less sauce or go with the Prohibition burger. I remember that burger being easier to eat.) This space is bigger than it seems. When you look at the Speakeasy from the outside it seems like a tiny hold in the wall. However, upon entering you’ll notice how big it is in the back. This place is actually large enough to hold a large party. The DJ does play some funny music though. Not sure if it’s intentional or not, but the music he puts on directly after the UFC seems to clear the room out really quick. One time, he was messing with the sound system and cut out the UFC sound for half the room. That was VERY annoying! Listen Mr. DJ, I came for the UFC and paid damn good money for it! If you want people to stay for your set, wait until it’s over and play something good! Otherwise very good for a burger, beer and the UFC!

This place is probably better suited as a bar than a place to eat. I had the poutine, because I’m not Canadian and I was wondering what the heck it is. I didn’t think it was too bad. The beer was good… Granville island pale ale. The waitress was nice. I gave it a 3 because there isn’t anything great about this place.

The server was alright. We ended up getting the nachos(safest bet) and they tasted normal. The double of whiskey did not taste like a double. My girlfriend got a Bellini and it looked like a root beer float. Was not in the proper glass and tasted like ice. My girlfriend brought the drink back(which she never does) and they still tried to charge us on the debut machine(not on the bill). The wings I ordered was clearly packaged and not fresh. Not too impressed.

Food was not so good. Service was really bad! One girl by the front door actually had a very bad attitude and that was absolutely unnecessary.

The.Worst. Holy shit. You know what’s worse than having overpriced drinks, shitty service and a dirty store? Having a live DJ cranking music that he doesn’t know how to mix or scratch over. It was honestly painful, with everyone there taking time to laugh, shake their heads in disgust or simply say«what the fuck?». He would play a song, and then ¾ play another song OVER that one, usually two completely different genres, not mixed at all. It was like two people were battling over which song to play so they played both at the same time. Then, in addition, he would«scratch», but did not know at all what he was doing. It legitimately hurt my head. I ordered a cocktail that said $ 8 on the menu and $ 10.50 on my bill. I wanted to leave so bad that I didn’t even argue it, but it was one of the only times I’ve left an establishment that quickly and didn’t tip.

I was hungry… i wasn’t thinking straight… why oh why did we go here? I just said Why. I was hungry. Not sure where to start really. Was it the tacky HAlloween décor, the dust layer on everything, the lackluster service or all the leftover food!!! PLUS if you can believe… we were served two(thats right, TWO) mozza sticks that had NO mozza inside… like wth!!! House salad? BAD idea!!! Anyway, there was so much food leftover we packed it up with ketchup and napkins and gave it to the first homeless guy we saw outside. I felt bad for not giving him something to wash it down with… YIKES!!! There was even a sign on my way to the bathroom that said«Make your friends jealous, check in on Unilocal». I would be EMBARRASSED to check in here again. Oh when will I learn.
