Sugarrays is an BBB A+ Business.

We have been operational for 11 years and have trained thousands over that time.

The club enjoys a close association with several world champions and some of the best trainers on the planet. We are considering other locations and franchising shortly.

The club is famous for giving value for money and attention to detail. It has been described as the toughest gym in Canada.

The facility is coed, we do not discriminate by gender, race, religion, sexual orientation and we never look down on anyone unless its to pick them up.

I’ve been a member of SugarRay’s for 2 years. This gym attracts men and woman of all ages and all ethnic origins. Like every single gym out there, it has a social factor so members chat with each other and you will see Bob socializing when he isn’t in the ring coaching someone or running drills with a small group.
I have NEVER witnessed any inappropriate behaviour towards female members. Bob has shown me nothing but respect. He also has a witty sense of humor which adds to the energy of the gym.
As far as the size of the gym goes well it’s not kept a secret prior to you making the decision to join. Every gym has their own set of rules and it’s your responsibility to ask tons of questions before handing over your cash. You have to be self-motivated and disciplined if you want to benefit from the SugarRay’s experience. For those of you who want towel service, keep on walking. . this ain’t no spa!

If I can give 0 stars, I would. I joined Sugarrays few years ago when it was located in Granville Street. Didn’t really meet the owner Bob back then. Sugarrays had excellent trainers and nice facility. After 2 years, the gym was closed without any notice for few months. It suddenly re-opened at Robson Street. Management never mentioned about partial refund for the lost months nor apologized about lack of updates. Then again, the gym closed without any notice and I started searching facebook page to get status update. The gym moved to current location which is basically a parking lot with a storage; storage area being the gym. As other reviewers mentioned, uneven flooring, small space… almost like a home gym. Being loyal member, I tried to keep my membership (BTW, all negative reviews on FB were deleted).
With all the closure and moves, I am sure the owner was stressed. But as business owner, you are suppose to apologize about any inconvenience you’ve caused to your customers; however, Bob whined about the rent he had to pay, his problems with building owners, never apologizing about his error of not informing members about the sudden move/closures. When anyone questions it or complains about it, I have seen him swear to the member and yelling, telling them to «f-off.» That’s when I decided that it was not worth it to renew the membership. The facility is bad, owner is terrible, impatient, moody man that doesn’t have respect to his members.

Any boxing place is better than here. The owner is a horrible, uneducated person. He has no idea about human relations and the only he does is insult you in front of everyone instead giving proper boxing tips. He also made you mop the floor if you sweat. He banned me from the club yesterday claiming that I wrote a bad review online which wasn’t true. But now I am writing one. Don’t waste your time here. If you don’t trust my review. Go ahead and see for yourselves.

About 8 months ago I was new to the gym and wondered why all the reviews online I could find either said that it’s the best thing since sliced bread, or the worst place ever. I wondered why there were no in-the-middle reviews? There were posts from people that have clearly had bad experiences with the owner, but I hadn’t yet had such experiences myself. (Now I have.) I still don’t know who gave it 5-star rave reviews.
I’m done with the place. The owner is far from professional. His standard operating procedure is to spend all his time with cute girls when they come in, including smacking them on the bum with a paddle while they’re bent over. He angrily berates and insults his trainers, and sometimes even clients for no good reason. He changes the membership fees and hours willy-nilly, and he can’t keep track of who has paid and who hasn’t. Instruction is minimal.
The gym itself is located in a ramshackle garage with uneven flooring. Membership is cheap, and that’s the biggest selling point.
But beware: the business model seems to be to collect most/all of the money for the year up front and then drive you away to make room for new people to come in.
If you can ignore the owner, just want a place to work out and you don’t need any amenities or instruction, it might be okay. But I’m not that guy.

If you want to get a killer workout, and become a killer… come to this gym. The expertise of the instructors is unmatched, The head coach alone has 30+ years experience.
There is a full ring, tons of equipment, full weight training set. Everything is brand new.
Ive been to tons of gyms over the years, and no place ive ever been to is as clean as Sugarrays. It really goes to show the work and effort that the staff puts into this place.
Its a great environment, everyone is super friendly with no inflated «Im a fighter» egos. Its never too busy here that you cannot get an enjoyable workout.
What more can I say… great staff, amazing facilities, great energy and environment… oh yeah how about $ 300 for a year? basically you have no reason to not sign up, get in the best shape of your life and learn valuable self defense skills, and make new friends all at the same time.

Just joined this gym and am looking forward to getting into shape. I know that the workouts are hard and there’s a no nonsense attitude that comes along with that.
Once situated on Granville Street, Sugarrays gym is now nestled in the Armoury district between Fir and Burrard on 3^rd Avenue.
THIS IS NOT A GYM TO WEAR YOUR LULU’S and POSE IN MIRRORS.
I love this gym because its raw exercise that makes you want to work hard, train better and learn a new set of skills.
This is a place to lead your active, healthy lifestyle.
Look out for Dempsey, he’s got no bark but he gets you moving.
