Unless you like to get ripped off, would not recommend this salon. I wanted to get color correction to go from black to ash brown, left with the same color I came in with. On top off that it came to $ 275 biggest rip off of my life! Also another lady wanted to cut my hair thank god they didn’t rip me off on that too.

So I came here wanting to get a really nice short hair cut. When I called in to book the initial appointment the receptionist gave me 2 options for hair stylists and I said whichever is more creative with short hair cuts since it was my first time cutting it above my shoulders. She said they are both very good so I decided to go which whoever charges more thinking It would make a difference. The overall experience was great but my hair cut was just absolutely questionable. I asked him for a thin short Bob but instead I got a straight thick cut. I was in denial about it since I wanted to give my stylist the benefit of the doubt. After revealing my new hair cut to others the reviews I got back really freaked me out cause firstly, I told him I was most likely going to put extentions in my hair so please make it blend. he definitely did not listen. Secondly, When my boyfriend asked why does it look like he just chopped it straight at the back and did not layer it the girl at the front said it will grow out nicer if it was cut like that. Now I’m even afraid to come back to make them fix it cause I just paid 90 bucks for haircut worth 20 bucks.
So disappointing.

Love Candice! She’s always listened to what I ask of her and definitely gives suggestions if she feels a certain style might not go with my hair.
I’ve always been treated with a down to earth friendly attitude and always feel welcome there.
I’ve tried some other higher end salons in the past but never liked their uppity attitude. You won’t find this at Suki’s nor with Candice.
Highly recommend them to anyone who can afford it.

I by far had the WORST experience ever at Suki’s on Granville! I was visiting a friend from out of town and I walked in needing highlights. They booked me with Michael and I showed him a couple photos of what I was going for.
He immediately asked me if I was a celebrity because if I wasn’t there would be NO WAY I could afford to maintain the look I was going for (HOW DOES HE KNOW WHAT I CAN and CANNOT AFFORD?!).
I was so taken a back I didn’t even no how to respond. He was not trying to be cute or funny either he was really rude and dead serious. He then went on to tell me how he was a master stylist with more experience than anyone else at the salon and it would cost me a lot to do what he asked, — This ENTIRE time I was completely silent and just let him keep talking. One insult after another… I didn’t know what to do and felt completely uncomfortable. I really wanted to leave but felt too embarrassed.
I would not recommend this salon to anyone. Such an insulting experience and really an uninviting place.
Besides, its nothing special for costing $ 300. This place is like a production line Salon. 30 hair dressers in a row just cranking away, bad vibes and aesthetic.

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would.
There really is no place better than this location. Expensive? Yup. Sure is! But worth every single dime. Great hair is PRICELESS! Candice is THE BOMB with cuts (she’s mine you can’t have her) and Morgan is unreal with her colour. I will never, ever stray from them! LOVE.

Wish I never came here and listened to everyone who has told me about their bad experience and over priced service. Would never return.
Its unfortunate that it took a «bad review» for someone to address my concerns. After two visits and $ 800, calling the salon did nothing. Writing a «bad Unilocal» review on the other hand got me an email from the business manager offering to fix my hair for free. Why? So that I would remove my bad review? Its a nice gesture, but a little too late.
The damage is done, the color is horrible, the money is down the drain and I wouldn’t want another sukis employee to burn off what yellow hair I have left.

After seeing my initial experience below, Larry, Suki’s colour director contacted me within a couple of days to make things right. He called twice when I missed his first call, and was extremely courteous, apologetic, and understanding. He booked me to come in first thing that coming Saturday.
When I arrived at the salon, I was greeted by Larry at the door, and he immediately apologized and thanked me for coming in. He wasted no time asking me details about what happened, and agreed that there was a great deal of warmth at my roots, not at all what I’d asked for. He and his team of skilled apprentices took care of me with warmth, courtesy, and world-​class professionalism.
The end result was a rich medium-​dark ash brown colour to replace the former warm brown that shone orange under lights. Larry gave me a complimentary treatment post-​wash that left my hair silky, as well as a mini-​kit of D’Cinque treatment products to take home.
All in all, Suki’s is a salon with extremely high standards, and my negative experience with them before was clearly an aberration from their norm. I’ve already recommended this salon to my friends who have heard my initial hair woes, and I would definitely use their services again.
Thank you so much Larry, you are a gem and paragon of your field, and I now love my hair thanks to you and your lovely assistants.

My negative experience only concerns a colourist who’d recently moved from Toni & Guy on 4^th to join the Suki’s team on South Granville. The salon itself is top-​notch, with courteous, professional staff.
I have been colouring my hair for 3 years, several times with Lana, also from Toni & Guy, who unfortunately did not make the move to Suki’s. I couldn’t find out where she went, so I booked an appointment with Claire at Suki’s after receiving a promotional email about the move, thinking why not.
Before we began, we talked over what I wanted and what I was comfortable with. I explained to her clearly that I would like the path of least resistance — colour-​wise and damage-​wise. I said I’d be comfortable with brown, so long as it is an ash brown, no warmth. (I have naturally black Asian hair, that lifts surprisingly well, which I’ve worn at varying levels, from dark blonde to medium brown) It tones easily into an ashy brown once lifted.
After about an hour and half of applying colour & rather lively conversation — where Claire confided she didn’t think ethnic people should really stray far from their natural hair colour (a troubling and rather offensive view, coming from a colourist) — I was relayed to 2 different apprentices who washed and blow dried my hair for another hour and half (!)
The colour came out a brassy mahogany around my roots, with the remainder of my hair its original light ashy brown. Claire did not bother to come speak with me at the end of the blow-​drying. I was surprised by this. This should be a warning sign for anyone — a colourist that does not check up on her work. Usually a good colourist will dry sections of your hair to see how the colour’s developed.
I was even more surprised when she charged me $ 300 for the colour. Let me just put this in perspective: a full colour correction that took the lovely Chris Weber 5 hours at Barbarella (including a cut) was $ 300 and the hue was perfect. This was a poor slap-​dash dye-​job (1.5 hours stretched out to 3 unnecessarily) with a clear demarcation line (or banding) between the roots and the remainder of my hair. She only came down to see me when I asked to speak with her about the cost breakdown. She insisted it was a colour correction. It was a root-​touch up and toner/​semi-​permanent application at best.
I was too gob-​smacked by her bold insistence that I «just needed to come back» when I expressed my discomfort with the colour and price, that I just paid and left. This experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. I regret not speaking with management.
If you’re looking for a professional colourist who actually respects and listens to her clients, I’d advise against Claire. I’m going to have to hunt down Lana, or go back to Chris at Barbarella.

If the fact that I have been coming here for over 12 years is not Unilocal commendation in itself, not sure what more I can say.
This is a true full-​service professional salon in Vancouver. From the moment you step into the modern, light filled space you could be in any of the top salons around the world. It’s crisp, efficient and above all, very good.
I can only speak for my stylist, Paul, who has been trained worldwide and a master of colour and cut. We have been through several shades of colours and cuts in my hair and even while I was living overseas (everywhere from The Caribbean to California), I waited months till I was in Vancouver to ensure I got my hair cut from Paul. Who cares if I looked like a wooly mammoth by the time I got back, it had to be Sukis to touch my mop.
In 12 years no one has touched my hair colour other than Paul (or myself when I have been stuck in the wilds of Africa or Central America and had to resort to self colouring). I have had other haircuts, emit loud groan here, and I daresay, I would only go to someone else if it were for a very, very, very easy trim.
Products used are top of the lines Kerastase which is caviar for your hair. Lots of options past haircuts including treatments, up-​dos, blowouts, extensions, and more.
Not for the faint of wallet. Expect nothing less than a starting price of $ 100 (all in) for the basic-​basic of female cuts. $ 250+ for a good colour. Ive spent $ 350 some days and about cried my mascara off.
Why this isn’t 4 stars has nothing to do with the hair salon (if I was just rating the salon they would have 5++++ stars). I have been to the spa a couple of times and have to say, not a fan. Too sterile, a bit awkward and the front staff seem pretentious. Caveat, its been 5 years since last spa sojourn but unless they are going to comp me to review it, not planning on heading back. 5 stars will have to wait on that.

I’ve come here twice in the past 2 days — yesterday for a haircut and then again today for a fix. This review is mainly for the second appointment and stylist.
The first stylist, Krystle, was really sweet and did her best to give me the cut I was looking for. The overall cut was good but unfortunately the shape wasn’t quite right, so I came back today. Krystle wasn’t available so I ended up with senior stylist Mona.
I explained to Mona what I felt needed changing and she agreed to touch up the ends of my hair to alter the shape a bit. After getting shampoo’d I went back to her chair and she allowed me to be seated completely surrounded by her previous clients hair… You would think that while a different person was shampooing me that she would at least fetch someone to sweep up after her, but no. The boy who washed my hair is also the designated sweeper, apparently. Why couldn’t she have had him sweep and shampoo me herself?
After carefully combing through it, she started literally hacking away at my hair. I felt like since she had been running behind (we started the appointment 20 minutes late) she was trying to rush because she was really rough and whipped my damp hair around so harshly that it pegged me in the eye and I had to scrunch my eyes closed from the pain. No apology, and didn’t ask if I was ok. After she’d finished and asked what I thought, I told her it was way shorter than what I thought we’d agreed upon and that it still wasn’t what I’d asked for — just a shorter version of what I had come in to have fixed (I wanted the ends to taper more and for it to be softer and not so blunt). All she offered was «it will grow out» and asked if I had everything I came in with and then she disappeared to the back somewhere.
As embarrassing as it is to admit, I think this is the first time I’ve ever cried from a haircut while still in the salon. After this experience with Mona, I’m not sure I would risk coming back.

Where do I start? The exterior is unpretentious but as soon as you enter, you will find a buzzing salon on the main level and a lovely, spa in the basement level. At Suki’s you will find Friendly and experienced staff, free use of their infrared sauna, robes/​slippers and the works to ensure you have the ultimate spa experience.
One of their rooms opens up to accommodate groups of two so they can experience their treatments together. Bonus! Atmosphere is serene, clean, relaxing… Just lovely! My facial was beyond amazing… It was super relaxing with a nice face, neck and even foot massage while I was waiting for my mask to do its thing! My skin felt wonderful afterwards. The dermalogica products are gentle and if you like them, you can buy them afterwards.
The infrared sauna is small but is perfect for you and friend to enjoy. It is right along the hallway between the front desk and change rooms but that didn’t interfere with our experience. Check out their website for their packages… You can get some pretty good deals if you combine treatments. Great place to relax and really treat yourself. Pricey but well worth it.

Shanghai Pedicure with Simon. The best a man can get.

I have now been to Suki’s twice for a «signature facial». Some notes:
Good — very clean, quiet spa environment, access to steam room and/​or IF sauna
Not-​so-​good — no private lounge area, makeup application is right next to the cash register
If you’re looking for standard Dermalogica facial, this is a good place to go. The spa is very clean and amazingly quiet based on it’s location on Granville Street. The staff are clearly well-​trained on the product line which means you’ll be gently pushed to buy some Dermalogica products when you’re finished your treatment.
I really like that guests are offered access to the their steam room and IF sauna. However, both are located in a walkway that leads guests to the locker room. You will see everyone walking by, which isn’t a big deal. I would suggest that they mount a clock on the hall so people can see just how long they’ve been inside. Both times I used the IF sauna and it was difficult to guage how long I had been in there. If they don’t want to mount a clock, then staff should be trained to ask guests if they would like to be notified after x number of minutes in the steam room/​sauna.
It would also be nice if the Jane Iredale makeup application could be done in a more private area. Guests are walked out (in robes) into the lobby of the spa to get touched up.

I had a pretty good stylist for stint and then the stylist left. :(
So did I.
I quite like this salon but didn’t find another stylist I could connect with at this location.

I have been going to Suki’s for about 6 years now (wow how time flies!) and I have never had a bad experience yet.
Well first off, when waiting for your appointment you’re offered water or coffee/​tea and sit in their waiting area. The stylist comes to meet you and there you talk about what you want, and they actually listen!!! If they don’t completely agree with what you have chosen to do with your hair, they’ll give you a few options to choose from based on your hair and face type. I personally really appreciate their honesty. After this you’re escorted by your stylist to get your hair washed and they specify what shampoo and conditioner they want the interns to use on your hair, and maybe even a mask if your hair needs and you’ll also get one of the best scalp massages! Some salons say they give scalp massages but Suki’s really gives you one… it eases all your tension away! I actually took my fiancé here to get his hair done and he was shocked at how into the scalp massage they were, he said it actually made him feel a little uncomfortable, lol. So I guess its not for the very ‘manly men’ :P
The hair cut has never disappointed me, it’s done well, especially by the senior stylists. They recommend product for you and style your hair so you look and feel absolutely gorgeous before heading out the door! I’ve actually entered the salon feeling blah and left noticing I turned a few heads! That’s when you know its a good hair cut! Some woman actually stopped me right when I left and told me my hair looked amazing, and asked where I got it done :)
I love this place so much I’ve recommended it to friends, my fiancé and my brother… they all left extremely happy! I really recommend this place, just have plans after you get your hair cut because you’ll be a head turner! :)

This rating is for my Brazilian wax experience, not any other service.
I’ve been getting Brazilian waxes for 3 years now and I’ve never thought of the experience as particularly painful (Jane from Sugarbox is a miracle worker!). But today, at the South Granville Suki location, I had the worst Brazilian wax from Lynn. I am surprised that her biography states that she has had 15 years experience; I’ve never had a wax so painful and so improperly done. I am not an aesthetician but I have gotten enough waxes to know that re-​waxing the same area 3 – 4 times is not good for the skin (my previous aestheticians just bring out the tweezers if one wax isn’t enough). Especially when it’s on the mons pubis, where most of the pain nerves are. Also, she rubbed the residue wax into my skin immediately after waxing! I know how much a Brazilian wax should hurt for me and this experience was excessively painful. When I went to the washroom, I noticed bleeding. I have never bled after a Brazilian before, not even after my first time.
Other notes to consider: I went on a Monday afternoon, nobody smiled at me though I smiled at everyone. Nobody promptly greeted me. Lynn gave me one baby wipe after the wax and then put the box in the drawer– it felt odd because I’m used to being allowed to take care of myself afterwards and the gesture seemed stingy. Also, it took 40 minutes! All my previous waxes only took 15 – 20 minutes.
I had another wax there in October with Caitlin and she was quick but not painless. I definitely do not like the type of wax Suki uses. They also re-​use the application stick which I personally do not like. But I bought 2 Social Shopper vouchers and had to use them…
Paired with my friend’s mediocre but expensive hair cut at Suki’s downtown, I will not be returning to any Suki location for any of their services.

I’m updating my review to a 3-​star, as the spa director wrote to me in private and appologized for the service. It was really nice of her to take the time to reply promptly. It was unexpected. Steam room is now fixed, and to my surprised, I was offered a complimentary facial for my next visit. Excellent customer service.

I am surprised to see that there are only 2 reviews written for this location because my virgin experience at Suki’s on South Granville was excellent.
My hair stylist, Joyce, was attentive and nailed my hair cut. I felt she really listened and understood what I was looking for in a hair cut. After I told Joyce what I wanted/​expected (after telling her my horrifying experience at Suki’s in Downtown Vancouver with Antonio), she went right to work. The appointment took almost 1.5 hours. The result was well worth the long wait because my hair cut looks fantastic! My slick bob is short at the back and long at the front. She layered it so that the back of the hair is light and modern (as opposed to the traditional dense look). Furthermore, it’s easy to maintain. All I need to do after I wash my hair is to blow dry. There is none of that blow-​dry styling or flat iron fuss.
My hair cut costed me an arm and a leg but the happy smile I wear from constant compliments is — priceless. Needless to say I will definitely come back and have Joyce cut my hair for many years to come.
Additional Notes
The building itself is spacious and bright. The floor above street level is used for only coloring/​highlights. The floor underneath the main is for spa.
Suki’s does not have their own parking lot so the only way to get here by car is street parking.

This was my first time here. The parking was hard to find and the outside looks small maybe because it was so busy. The spa is downstairs and very clean and kept. We tried a couples facial through a voucher from social shopper. I have had several facials from different places all over including skoah, solarice, aveda, heavenly soul, belle oasis, forever young, lady orchids and thoroughly enjoy the relaxation and glow my face has after. This facial was BY FAR the best facial I have ever had. The others were great but this was AMAZING. I had Lily who must be top notch because she treated Suki herself right after me. Suki is the sweetest cutest lady and made an extra effort to greet everyone. I was happy to meet her. The facial is tailored to your skin using all dermalogica products but I was pleasantly surprised with a hand, arm, and foot massage (brief and would have loved a bit longer). The face massage though was so comfortable. My skin looked and felt fantabulous. When you are done, they actually wait for you out the door to hand you a cup of water (or tea). They also offer a complimentary make up touch up (if you want it). We didn’t use the steam room or sauna, but that is also included. Everyone had the best service here and you feel so happy leaving. They give you an envelope to write to and from and place your tips at the end. If you don’t have exact cash, you can charge it to your card but they give you cash to put in the envelope.
I encourage everyone to try the spa once and I am confident you will love every minute just like me :)

I really like this spa, very clean, cozy and small. I’ve been going there for years and even though their spa is small, it’s not cluttered and has enough space for men’s and women’s changeroom (shower, lockers, washroom stalls and vanity area), little steam room and sauna. I think they probably have around 6 – 7 treatment rooms in the basement of Suki’s on Granville. Very white, serene, and clean.
I’m QUITE disappointed that they don’t have the matcha green tea facial anymore, I was a big fan of that facial!

I only go to Suki’s for a Shanghai Pedicure. Mr. So is the foot expert at Suki’s. Mr. So’s younger brother worked on my feet at the Mandarin Oriental Spa in Hong Kong. When I found out that the older brother was working at Suki’s Spa, I quickly made an appointment. Mr So’s father started the business in Shanghai and passed the skills to his two sons.
Back to the foot treatment. After soaking your feet for 10 minutes, Mr So will bring a tray of instruments, scalpels and knives. It looks like he is ready to operate on your feet. He will use a knife to cut your toenail and clean the entire area. The best part is cleaning all the thick dead skin on your feet. After wearing heels, my feet definitely need this type of shaving. Don’t worry about Mr. So’s work. After several years, I find he is very gentle and knowledgeable about feet. He never cuts too deep. I have complete faith in him. After the treatment, the foot looks beautiful and ready for those heels.
