I love this place! I go here whenever I want a sandwich or soup and they always deliver something yummy. Their drinks are pretty good too, but I admit I mostly go here for the food. Basically whenever I wish my mom was here to make me a sandwich, I go over to Java Hut. :)

I currently type this whilst waiting to go get a tattoo, thought I should build up some latte courage! It’s a nice place off the main road, the kind of café locals here must love :) Indeed, the man serving seems to know everyone! Is a nice layout, lots of different chairs and places to sit(I always like that!), and lots of free reading material, woo hoo! My latte is fine enough, nothing super amazing, but it does the job on a rainy day such as this. They seem to have a big choice of different types of latte, always good. The choc chip cookie I just scoffed down was niiiiiiiiice! I could eat another 10, please! Big range if sweeties actually, yum.

Years and years and years ago, this was literally a stone’s throw from where I lived. But back then, I wasn’t addicted to caffeine and didn’t venture into coffee shops very often! But I finally got my chance to take a load off here the other day, and, yes, Tod M is right, the mango smoothie was yum! I know, you thought I was going to talk about coffee, right? Well I would be, but by the time I was rolling into the Java Hut I was 2 cups in(just past my max caffeine limit) and my hands were shaking a bit. But the mango smoothie certainly took the edge off! It was smooth, rich… actually, it was like a blended up version of mango pudding, which is one of my favourite things in the dim sum world! Looks like there’s lots of snacks, light meals and of course, lots of places to sit. And is that microphones in the corner? Gotta love a place where coffee and live music jam together. Ah, just like Central Perk on Friends :-)

I love this place. They’ve got a nice little semi-private nook for quiet or private conversations(great for impromptu business meetings), air conditioning, a varied and tasty menu(real food, not just a smattering of pastries and squares), air conditioning, free and fast wi-fi, and air conditioning. They’ve got a small library of actual books, newspapers, magazines… some outdoor seating(three tables), and a cozy area with couches and coffee tables. Wednesday night they host a jam session and then an open-mic. Frank, the owner, is a very nice guy, gets to know you by name. P. S. Mango smoothie. To die for. That’s all I’m saying.

The Java Hut is a nice neighbourhood café that serves up the usual coffees, teas, and snacks, but my favourite menu item is the fresh smoothies that they make here. You can choose from amongst plenty of different kinds of fruits and they’ll whip it up for you. This is great on a hot summer’s day. For when it’s colder, try the chai latte. The ambience here is friendly and it has a nice cosy feel.
