Had just had dinner elsewhere but had to try this place. Timber cocktails: Cucumber gimlet: gin, lime, simply syrup, cucumber: This is good, not sweet, although not as refreshing as I’d hoped. Tree planter: gin, douglas fir syrup, lime, whiskey bitter: Love, love, love. They muddle douglas fir in simple syrup to get the real outdoorsy taste. Sprinkled with a touch of finely ground black pepper. You have to try this. Creative menu: Dessert is categorized as «SUGAR». Brown butter tart, rye ice cream: OMG! Beautiful crust, delicious buttery filling. Liked it that it wasn’t sickenly sweet. I would imagine there is a ton of butter and maple syrup in this(but then how else would you get this gooey yummy mix?)… This is a melt in the mouth experience beautifully paired with the subtle rye ice cream! They were happy to oblige when we ran out of ice cream! Nice open space with high ceilings and warm wooden interiors. Décor is rustic with stuffed animals: Canadian goose at the window and a beaver at the door. Service was great and it was good to sample some unique drinks and dessert. Will be back!

I was pretty excited about this place opening as it is right down my street! I only had the Poutine as I had eaten beforehand. The Poutine was salty and I left half of it uneaten(I only ever leave plates spotless!) I know you’re wondering,“how can you screw up on a Poutine?!” Well it just happened… Here! And it was $ 12 also. My friends had the burgers and had no complaints about them so I’m sure it may have just been the Poutine that was a bad choice. The«happy» hour deals are not really a deal but what the prices probably should be. Altogether, I was disappointed as This place has potential if they would just lower their prices. If they lowered their prices to normal bar prices like score, it would probably bring a lot more customers in. Now I just suggest to go to Score or All Stars instead, as I live right in between Robson and Davie. Bottom line: Drop your prices!

Just living around the corner I was hoping this place might be a nice local for drinks and food, Alas this was not the case I came here with 3 friends, we all ordered drinks and food! Right off the bat the server was disinterested and arrogant(the one other time I drank here the service was poor as well). I ordered the vegetarian«main dish» of perogies. Reading the description on the menu — the dish sounds pretty substantial, and should be for(roughly) $ 14. When the food arrived I found myself waiting for the rest if my meal to be dropped over… Nope! 3 tiny perogies on a small side plate. The people at my table were awkwardly trying to donate food from their plates. It was laughable to consider it a main meal. So the only positive things I have to say is that the food did taste nice however much overpriced it was. The interior is cool and bright. Negatives are the awful service, tiny portions and over priced menu.

Ambiance — 5 — modern industrial, clean, warm, gastropubish Food — 5 —. Come hungry. I enjoyed the chef inspired twists on some traditional dishes. Caesar, poutine, bison burger, and craft beers were spot on and affordable. Service — 5 — service is make or break. Prompt, attentive, friendly, informative, and enjoyable Glad we stumbled on this spot and gave it a try. I would recommend this restaurant and bar to anyone.

Freshly brewed local beers, delicious Canadian food and staff that are dresses in all Plaid make the ingredients of a cool new hot spot on Robson street. I’m not one to venture out to Robson street for food except when I’m craving Korean food or Hotpot but I have to say I was impressed by this joint. On my first visit I came here with my family as part of the Lumiere festival in the West End where this was the stop where we were served Mulled wine… which to my surprise was quite good. The interior is nicely done, think lots of timber and reclaimed wood from what looks like came from Canada Post wooden boxes. The high ceilings give the space a roomy feel and perfect for cozying up with friends/family over the holidays! We tried a few items from the menu and among those the Mushroom poutine was my favorite… the maple glazed chicken wings are also tasty but a bit too spicy for my liking. The beer selection is not too extensive but enough to satisfy the beer snobs… overall I’d recommend this place for group gatherings over drinks/food.

I was really excited to try Timber, knowing Chef Whitaker(Forage genius) is the master behind this one. Ambience was really impressive, high ceiling with sufficient lighting. The time we went there, i called in first btw asking if we can just walk in. I was told they were booked for the evening. But then took it back and said he can get us a table for two. We got there and lots of empty tables, even up to the time we left, not a full house at all. Anyhoo, was so thrilled and ready that i ordered bison burger. To my dismay, didn’t finish half. Not that i couldn’t but i just did not want to. Disappointing. Menu was limited as well, maybe because they’ll have more soon? I hope. Sorry Chef, but just didn’t work out for us.

We had the fish and chips the fish was more mushy than flakey served with decent fries and a miserable cole slaw, the tartar sauce was runny and the house ketchup needs work at $ 18 your better off at white spot, we also had the lobster club barley toasted bread iceberg lettuce a slice of tomato cold bacon and not a lot of lobster at a hefty $ 24 not worth it ! Over priced hipster pub food

I went there during the first week of opening. I really like the place, they have a good selection of local beers and a simple(meat or no meat), yet not an ordinary menu. If «you’re a lumberjack and you’re OK, you cut down trees and work all day» then go for the bison burger. The staff is super-friendly too and even though they just opened they seemed to have everything under control.

Was very excited to visit this place but it was not quite what I was hoping for. The place is new and probably still working out some kinks but it needs a broader menu that’s not just Canadian novelties(let’s try a beef or salmon burger, that’s Canadian too!). You can still be «fancy» with pub food. Also, a bit pricey for the atmosphere… I would expect a few cheaper options mixed in the menu and drink options. This isn’t a Coal Harbour tapas bar. This is a «Canadian» pub on Robson. This place has great potential but needs to lose its pretension and up the value and it could do great.

We were excited for this to open, but unfortunately the experience just didn’t do it for us. Granted its only 3 days in but if the menu doesn’t have more… we won’t be going back. Ambience — lovely wood and taxidermy? animals feel Canadian, without maple leaves in your face! There’s too many tvs though… A bit chilly due to all the windows. Medium noise levels. Feels like a pub but not quite that either. Food — small selection on the menu that seems like its meant to be shared. A single dish definitely isn’t filling enough unless you have a very small appetite or plan to drink more. Food prices are just a tad bit overpriced for what it is and the size of plates. Presentation needs work! Flavours are so-so but there are some interesting items like elk and bison. The maple spicy wings are delish! Service — friendly enough and didn’t wait too long for food. Have a problem with what seems to be a Vancouver service phenomenon of being asked how things are tasting very shortly(too quick) after recieving food. ask a little later please. We haven’t been to Forage but are left wondering if any of the food over there is like this at all… in which case it may be over hyped. Rather spend our money elsewhere for either better quality of food or lower prices.

New spot on Robson that will surely become more popular. It’s the same head chef and vibe as Forage next door, but Timber has a sports bar flair to it with awesome Canadian dishes. The fried cheese curds were perfect, their house made ketchup sweet and unique, and their deep fried nanaimo is a must have! Recommended for all your friends visiting town.
